dash in convenience store at woodyard and dangerfield road. it will not be open today. huge mess out here. the crime tape still up. the people in this case were after that atm there. you can see it's broken up there in several pieces. the front of this store a mangled mess. the brick falling there. the glass is everywhere here. close to 2:30 this morning a worker said he saw this truck begin to back into the store. that's when he ran to the back and he called 911. >> experienced something like this. it's crazy. >> going to be cleaning up for a while. they did a pretty lot of damage. like a lot of liquid and stuff that spilled.

a lot of damage to cleanup. i'm justin finch, news 4, back to you. >> 6:04. developing this morning. firefighters say a person smoking a cigarette while wearing an oxygen mask started this apartment fire in silver spring. the fire damaged several units inside the apartment building on schuyler road last night. firefighters had to help some people out of the building. the tenant who started the fire had to go to the hospital. the red cross is now helping those displaced families. 6:04. it happened again. a federal judge blocks president trump's latest travel ban. we're going to go into that story in just a minute. look at this story about a fire that happened yesterday and it actually caused a huge explosion. at this point firefighters still don't know why this fire in laurel started and what sparked th

live desk. thanks. this morning we're taking a few minutes to recognize an iconic career. donnie simpson has been a d.c. staple for 40 years. he streams on magic 102.3 but his television career started here on news 4. days before a star studded anniversary celebration in his honor featuring r&b music grates at the theater, donnie sat down with molette green. now d.c. is home and he sports the d.c. bomber jacket and he talks about how some of music's biggest stars are now among his closest friends. >> just last night i was hanging out with smokey robinson and gladys knight. you know? i'm still such a fan. i can't believe these people are my friends. >> he mingles with the stars but he's so down to earth. >> so humble. >> one ohe

you're watching "news 4 today." >> your time is 6:14. 88 people are still missing this morning in california following those massive wildfires in wine country. the national guard is now on the ground helping sift through all of this rubble of the burned down homes. 41 people have died and nearly 6,000 homes destroyed. 34,000 people are still under an evacuation order this morning. firefighters say they are making progress putting out these wildfires. the head of amazon studios resigns after being accused of sexual harassment. last week a producer told the hollywood reporter lloyd price repeatedly propositioned her for

she reported that incident to amazon executives repeatedly and the company did not suspend price during the investigation or after. the company did release a statement on price's resignation. the basketball just started up again and already one player may be out for months. even if you're not a basketball fan, you're probably going to hear about this highlight. this is really hard to watch. just letting you know. if you look at the far end of the court, gordon hayward came down hard under the basket. he dislocated his ankle and broke his tibia. medics had to put him on a cart and take him away. you can see the whole situation really upset the other players as well. tough to watch. just such a tough thing to happen in the first game of the year. really feeling for gordon hayward and wishing him a speedy recovery. >> you don't want to see that. >> no. we love "the voice." we love it even more when we get to root r

spectacular house and light show display. here's the man behind all of this, brandon bullock. >> good morning. >> your sons, declan and his friend mason. thank you for joining us and talking about all of this. how many lights? how much effort did you put into this? >> there's 16,000 lights. >> 16,000? that's the answer to that trivia question, eun and angie. go ahead. >> 16,000 lights. it takes approximately 40 hours to put everything out in the yard. >> oh, my goodness. >> and 10 to 12 hours per music minute. >> why do you do this? >> we raise money for johns hopkins children's center. today we have raised approximately $20,000 over the five years we've been collecting. >> you have the t-shirts they gave you. show the t-shirts. >> look how cool those are. worthy cause. going to talk a little bit more about that in the coming hour. but you attract all
