is in delaware. it ended a multistate search that started in edgewood, maryland norts of baltimore. prince it accused of shooting five people at a business yesterday morning. three people died. prince drove to delaware where he shot another person at a used car lot. eventually, they tracked him down near a high school. tragedy brought community members together, though. >> our hearts and our prayers go out to our brothers and sisters here in the community as we continue to join together and to love them and to support them during this very difficult time. >> now, two victims remain in critical condition right now. police are trying to figure out why the shooting happened. they do say all of the victims were specifically targeted. >> it turns out that prince was no stranger to law enforcement. police say he was arrested 42 times in delaware and also has 15 felony convictions. police told baltimore newspaper that he was fired from a job earlier this yea

event today in chesapeake, virginia. the voters will head to the polls on november 7th. today the man accused of raping and murdering a 17-year-old girl will be in court. a grand jury indicted darwin martinez torres on monday. torres hit nabra hassanen with his car. hassanen and a group of friends were walking to their mosque for ramadan. he raped her and dumped her in a lake near his apartment. prosecutors say they will pursue the death penalty for torres. today is the deadline for cities across the u.s. to turn in bids for amazon's second headquarters. you're looking at the top five contenders right now. this is according to moody analytics. they include atlanta, austin, pittsburgh, philadelphia, rochester and new york. amazon has not announced any top picks just yet, though. you know that d.c., montgomery, prince george's, loudoun and fairfax counties are all putting in bids

impacting police departments around the country. >> taking actions to protect the police and the country. scott macfarlane explains. >> reporter: federal, state and local police in the area are suffering this problem. the news 4 i-team checked with more than a dozen police agencies to find out how many sworn officers they have and found it was below the authorized level the number of police communities thought they needed and the number of police that were budgeted. union officials tell us it's a problem. it's leading to more one-man patrols and delaying response times and putting the officers themselves at risk if they're attacked on the job. internal police memos show the problem ranges from charles county through d.c. and even raises questions about u.s. park police which protect american landmarks and lead presidential mode kads. >> people cost money, you have to recruit them, outfit them and

reports the president offered $25,000 to a grieving military father over the summer, but that the check never came. what is the white house saying about that? >> the father, chris baldrige, his son was killed in june in afghanistan by an afghan police officer who shot him. the president made the phone call to him and apparently during that phone call said he would offer $25,000 to help them set up a fundraiser or help with costs there. again, the father of this fallen soldier says the money never came. the white house now is saying that the check recently has been sent. but, again, putting another precedent out there, leon panetta, for instance, former chief of staff, says this is a bad precedent to set for a president to offer money to a gold star family. >> edward lawrence on the hill for us. edward, thank you. it's 4:47 now. the university of florida is bracing for the possibility of violence when white nationalist leader spencer is on

he was in charlottesville that led to clashes and death in august. police set up a mobile command unit on the campus of the university and state troomers are in full force on that campus. officials are prepared for whatever happens. >> i think in terms of law enforcement, we're prepared. what we just don't know is what is actually going to happen. >> florida's governor declared a state of emergency earlier this week in anticipation of any violence much the university is also banning several items, including tiki torches, bull horns and masks. a registered sex offender is off the streets after police say he lured several women through a craigslist job posting. fairfax county police arrested this man on sexual battery charges. police say he posted a craigslist ad looking for an administrative assistant. at least three women responded to the ad. police say one of the women met with ralph at an office building in res ton where he's accused of

the two other women say the same thing happened to them and police say there could be more victims. for all in prince william county, make sure your car doors are locked. police received several reports of smash and grabs in woodbridge. windows are being broken and items stolen. reminder for you that all of these thieves in these cases have their eyes on parking lots apparently. any valuable items should be locked away from your trunk. from burglars getting into cars to getting inside your home. around 3:30 in the morning on tuesday, a resident found an unknown man inside their house. loudoun county authorities say that the suspect got in using a garage door opener inside the victim's car. since october 13th there have been similar cases. the sheriff says residents should close your garage door when not outside and lock your car, remove the garage door opener after parking as well. a lot of the garage door opene

in news for your health this morning, scientists say there is a clear established relationship between sugar and cancer. researchers found that eating high levels of sugar cause tumors to grow more aggressively. members of the american cancer society say this is an important step to determining what causes cancer but more research is needed. you'll remember we took that sugar challenge a few months back. we reduced sugar and it was suppose today make you feel better. i read for years now about the sugar aging you and not being good for your body. i still have a hard time letting it go each after that challenge.
