marathon? first of all, the system is going to open at 6:00 a.m. on sunday. that's because the marine corps marathon organizers have plunked down $200,000 to open the system early. of course, metro has been having that issue with staying open late or opening early. good to know they'll open at 6:00 a.m. the closest metro station to the start of the race is the pentagon station. keep in mind, that will be exit only until 8:30 in the morning. if you're going there, you're going to exit out of pentagon. if you're going to the marathon 10k, the archives and l'enfant plaza station downtown, those are the closest to the start line there. again, leave yourself plenty of extra time. get to metro when it opens at 6:00. there will be extra yellow and blue line trains to get everybody around. most importantly, stay safe. back to you. >> of course, news 4 is a proud sponsor of the marine corps marathon. nbc4 is. we havee

nbc washington app. you can find the security measures in place and everything to keep you safe. search marathon president. this morning, a person is recovering after a pickup truck drove into a building in silver spring. look at that. montgomery county fire and ems says one person was struck by debris. the truck drove through a fence and down an embankment into an apartment building last night. they had to check on a gas leak. everyone will be okay. friends and well-wishers of tina frost will come together to raise money for her care. frost was shot in the head during the las vegas massacre. the fundraiser will take place at gold's gym in crofton. zumba, yoga and aromatherapy classes. the proceeds go towards tina's go fund me account. that account raised more than, i think, $570,000 so far. as soon as we learn there was a local person involved i

massacre, people started trying to help. immediately, started contributing to that account. >> the spirit of generosity. there's a second surgery she had earlier this week which was successful. continuing to progress. we're just wishing her a speedy recovery. we're learning more about the people killed and critically wounded in that deadly workplace shooting in maryland. two of them remain in the hospital in critical condition. they are the only two shooting conditions to survive the rampage in edgewood. one of the three people killed at the granite company was this man. he lived in arlington and commuted two hours each way to get to work. his family says he often raised concerns about the suspected gunman's hostile mood. he was so worried he prayed about it in church. >> he would come home and mention that he had a rough day at work with this person.

the national park service has given the organizers a permit. catharsis on the mall will run the weekend of november 10th. here at the live desk. breaking news in virginia. a shooting on a college campus at virginia state university about two hours south of here near richmond. basically, the lockdown was just lifted about two hours ago. police say they got reports that someone was shot on campus. when they got there, they found a young man suffering from a gunshot wound. they rushed him to the hospital, but he -- with life-threatening injuries. at this point, they think it was an isolated incident. a lockdown for several hours just lifted in the past couple. aaron. >> chris lawrence for us in the newsroom this morning. there was just a shooting on campus a couple days ago too. they got to get a handle on it. october is breast cancer awareness month.
