annual marine corps marathon on sunday. this video shows us how many runners the race attracts. beautiful city, a great route. more than 30,000 runners competed last year. now, this is a look at the course. it's 26.2 miles and takes runners through the heart of d.c. all the beautiful monuments and such. news 4 will be cheering on the runners at mile 4. >> we'll be up and through this race. >> up and through. chuck will be running. >> go runners. we are also helping you plan. you want to get there on time. transportation reporter adam tuss working for you with metro's plan for a marathon sunday. >> the big race this weekend on metro. what do you need to know about taking metro to the marine corps marathon? first of all, going to open at 6:00 a.m. on sunday. that's because the marine corps marathon organizers have plunked down $200,000 to open the

building in silver spring. look at that. police say the truck broke through a fence and into the apartment building last night. one person was struck by debris but will be okay. friends and well-wishers of tina frost will come together today to raise money for her care. frost was shoot in the head during the las vegas massacre. tonight's fundraiser will take place at gold's gym. the go fund me page raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. they started giving from day one. now she's back in our area in baltimore. we're hoping for a speedy recovery. she had another surgery earlier in the week and the family says it was successful. more progress. great news. we're learning more about the people killed and critically wounded in that deadly workplace shooting in maryland. annette sosa and jose dylan remain in

school. he denied he had anything do with her murder and says he deeply cared for her. she was expecting her first child. a montgomery county guidance counselor has been arrested on sexual assault charges. authorities say that colin black performed sexual acts on two women without their consent. he met both women on tinder, the dating app. he met with the women on two separate encounters at their home. he's on administrative leave from the school district. we now know the name of the police officer hurt in a hit and run. we brought you the breaking news at this time yesterday. officer heather hanes was helping another officer on new hampshire avenue when police say someone hit her cruiser and drove away. hanes was seriously hurt. she is out of the hospital right now. police say they have not tracked down the driver who hit her car. a northern virginia family is still trying to come to terms with the fact that their mother is gone. >> o leaving a father alonwi

heart of d.c. news 4 will be cheering on the runners at mile 4. so come and join us and check out the news 4 team. you know that the race attracts tens of thousands of runners every year. we want to make sure you get there on sunday. transportation reporter adam tuss is working for you with the plan for marathon sunday. >> reporter: yeah, the big race coming up this weekend on metro. what do you need to know about taking metro? first of all, the system will open at 6:00 a.m. on sunday. that's because the marathon organizers have actually plunked down $200,000 to open the system early. of course, metro has been having the issue with staying open late or opening early. well, good to know that they'll be open at 6:00 a.m. the closest metro station to the start of the race is the pentagon station. keep in mind that that's going to be exit only until 8:30 in the morning. so if you're going there, you're going to exit out of
