let's show you what's going on on the maps right now. temperature already up to 61 degrees at 10:00 a.m. so that temperature just came up at the start of the 10:00 a.m. hour. we have a calm wind out there. we have plenty of sunshine and that's going to continue through the day today so again we're going to take the temperatures into the low to mid 70s by this afternoon and even through the evening so it is looking good today. upper 70s. 78 is our forecast temperature. we'll talk about that in about 15 minutes. >> check in with you then. we want to get back to our coverage of the 42nd annual marine corps marathon. >> runners are making their way through the 26.2 mile course. we have complete team coverage of this event. let's start with aaron who is live at the finish line.

line where we have been watching more and more of the 10k finisher and it's really awesome to see you have marines lined up here handing out handshakes, high fives, great jobs, good job to all the folks that are coming in. a lot of them smiling. a lot of them looked pretty exhausted as you might imagine after completing this 10-k but you know the sense of accomplishment that's obvious is just great to see people coming in, big smiles, lots of cheers going on as well. we anticipate. we know that the marathon runners are already out on the course. we anticipate that we could see the first marathon finisher probably in the next 15 or 20 minutes or so. we'll keep an eye out for that person to come across the finish line here. in the meantime, still you hear the big cheers coming in. you can see the high fives. one person after another being high fiveed after marines that lined up just across the finish line here to let these runners

of their united states marine corps. david, megan. >> one of those 10k runners is sean casey. >> susan hogan as well. she is out there. >> representing news 4. it's great to see as we continue to follow this 42nd marathon. >> we do, indeed. we have been following it all morning but what does that mean for the roads? that's a pig question for a lot of folks. derrick ward is in georgetown right now. how does it look? >> it's all quite here now. there's not a lot of traffic. see the section of m street and wisconsin, they have been using a bus and a snowplow to direct the traffic away from the course and to separate the traffic from the runners. now most of the runners are gone. take a look on the other side on the bus. this is the scene now. people are able to cross the street clearly and you see the clean up crews coming down to make sure that this course is clear once they reopen. now we have a map

blacks th blocks in place. there's still people on the course. some of the walkers and folks doing it as a matter of principle and not competition but this is what comes after the marathon. we do expect things to open up completely about 1:00 this afternoon once this is over and things are out of the way but a lot of action here earlier. take a look, you can see now the marines sweeping up they're still directing some traffic around so you are going to encounter this if you come down. the temperatures are great for me but i heard you talk about how the temperatures can maybe hinder the runners or make them uncomfortable. folks are happy they came through here and a lot of folks are happy that they're gone. >> thank you we want t

following. maryland state police say a van overturned and caught fire on the corner of route 301 and fairhaven avenue. we don't know if there's anyone else in the vehicle but no other vehicles were involved in this accident. route 301 was closed in both directio directions. >> we learned an elderly woman lost her life after a fire broke out and it happened in her bedroom. it happened here in an apartment building. it was on the 4,000 block of 8th street. we can show you images as well. fire started around 8:30 last night. officials telling us it was electrical in nature and one was isolated we should say was kept to one room in one apartment. so didn't go more widespread than that. >> some people that normally live at a bethesda high-rise are wake up this morning somewhere else. a transformer caught fire

tower. we first told you about the story yesterday on news 4 today. residents still can't return because the building doesn't have any electricity. it doesn't have running water and the elevators don't work. many of the residents are seniors and needed help getting out. >> i took her shoulders to look her in the pace to tell her, we're safe. we're going to be fine. >> six people were taken to the hospital because of all the smoke. the fire caused about a million dollars in damages. >> turning now to sports, the redskins won't have josh norman when they take on the eagles tomorrow night. they're best corner won't be able to play due to a fractured rib. that's despite norman practicing this week. others in the secondary are questionable to play but this could be a chance from younger defensive backs to take on more responsibility. the skins will take on the

same kind of -- same kind of trend they were yesterday. now, we are looking at warm numbers for runners out there for the marine corps marathon. let's show you the finish line. this even goes if you're not running the marine corps marathon. this gives you an idea of what it's going to be like as we continue into the early afternoon. temperatures in the low to mid 70s by the early afternoon. no rain. just plenty of sunshine out there. so there's the perfect day out there. we do have more clouds rolling in overnight and a lot of clouds around for tomorrow. rain is headed our way but not until tuesday and after that rain that's when that temperature drops. it's going to feel more like fall around here. so we have something for everybody on this ten day tra . forecast. 61 in the district. where chuck is and where the marine corps marathon is going on it might be waerm. temperatures in the upper 50s elsewhere. as we continue through the morning if you want to go outside and eat some brunch, temperatures in the 70s. maybe

a perfect day to do that. renaissance festival last weekend for the last day of it. it's going to be another beautiful day for that if you're headed to that. hopefully you're headed there early. 78 degrees is forecast high for here in the d.c. area. mid to upper 70s elsewhere so it is a good-looking day. running errands this afternoon or out and about nothing to worry about. temperatures in the mid 70s and we're cooling but not cooling quite as low as the last few nights because we have some cloud cover coming in. we don't have a lot of clouds out there no. no rain thanks to high pressure but clouds will be spilling in from this frontal system still in the midwest. that's going to continue to slowly march east ward spilling clouds in here overnight and in through much of the day tomorrow and then we'll have rain late tomorrow night into tuesday. but not until then. so tomorrow out the door, a light jacket because it's going to be a little chilly. temperatures in the 50s. sunglasses and short sleeves. temperatures around 60 degrees with a lit

you're making your way out the door but again temperatures despite cloud cover. mid to upper 70s tomorrow. so let me time it out for you. any time after about 10:00 we'll start to see rain showers moving into the area an just some slight stuff to start. we could have pockets of heavier rain and that's going to be moving out of here through at least the afternoon. so we'll keep some chances of rain in at least through the first part of tuesday. moving out in the afternoon. one thing about tuesday it is going to be breezy. temperatures will be lower. the low 70s and behind that frontal system temperatures drop. we'll be in the low 60s on wednesday and thursday and then start to modify a little bit and move the temperatures back into 70 as we head through next weekend. >> thank you. >> it was a week where we saw two former presidents breaking tradition. >> we did. former president barrack obama and george w. bush took aim at president trump without mentioning his name. joining us now is the moderator of nbc's meet the press. chuck, how significant was that to see

making reference. >> it was more significant when you think about where they did it and when they did it. first of all they both did it on the same day and used similar language and were both lementing the same issue. they were indicting his brand of political discourse. not even his brand of politics although you could say president bush was a bit of that as well but this whole idea that we have eroded, i mean, look, i think they came out and said what they said on thursday and i think they were motivated a little bit by the fact that it's gotten so condolences now. maybe you have to wonder maybe there's not a bottom to this. you have members of congress sound this alarm and member of the media sound this alarm about what this is doing to our demoac
