questions about what went wrong after this major security breach on capitol hill. a man from this area accused of hurling russian flags at president trump. scott macfarlane worked on the hill for several years. he's at the live desk now to give us some perspective here. scott? >> pat, some major questions being raised by this. this was a screaming protester who was posing as a journalist. witnesses say he shouted, trump is trees on as the president and senator mitch mcconnell walked into a lunch today on tax reform. >> talking about treason in congress, not about tax cuts. >> the news 4 i-team has confirmed the man is ryan clayton from sterling virginia, identified himself as part of a group called americans take action, progressive protest group which is a website which claims to represent a network of populists. you may remember there was a similar incident in july, a man standing with reporters identified himselfs

he tried to hand a russian flag to jared kushner. the president's son-in-law. investigators believe the same man is likely the one who carried out today's incident. neither the white house nor secret service are responding to immediate requests for comment. if you want to get into that sensitive area on the us capital on the senate side of the capital, you need a press credential from a media organization. you have to ask the capital police how this man got a credential. leon. >> interesting, lots of questions there. thank you, scott. now let's get to four things capturing headlines at the white house today. first, a top republican calling the president incompetent. senator bob corker told reporters today that president trump, quote, doesn't have a clue. the tennessee republican also said the president's tweets about north korea kneecap the secretary of state's diplomatic efforts. president trump fired back on twitter claiming that senator corker is bitter over the president's refusal to endorse him for reelection. senator corker could be key to

top republicans met with the president today to discuss their proposals. republicans are vowing that it will help middle class families. democrats, though, say that the tax cuts being talked about now are just for the rich. republican senator jeff flake of arizona announced today that he is not going to be seeking reelection in 2018. flake has been a critic of president trump and says that he feels out of step with today's republican party. just moments ago he addressed the president directly. >> mr. president, the graveyard is full of indispensable men and women. none of us here is indispensable. nor were even the great figures of history who toiled at these very desks in this very chamber to shape the country that we have inherited. >> all of this coming as more money could soon be going to hurricane relief efforts in texas, florida, puerto rico and the u.s. virgin islands. lawmakers are hoping to approve

end of the day. pat? >> a disturbing story here, residents fear it is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. police in prince william county are trying to figure out who on earth is firing a gun at cars and homes. and this is not the first time. the most recent incidents happened between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m. saturday while people were sleeping. bullet holes were found in three homes on sedgwick place in dumfries. a car and town house on eileen court in woodbridge. >> absolutely, you don't want any violence around this neighborhood. too many civilians here, too many kids here. so, hopefully they do capture who did this. >> this is video from last year when a family in manassas found bullet holes in their bedroom. it was one of at least a dozen homes hit by gun fire in prince william county last year. back now to

moments at a prince george's county restaurant this afternoon, a car crashed through the wall as customers were inside eating their lunch. >> as you can see there, you can see all the damage that happened in that incident on the ground from the air here, chopper 4 over this crash scene in upper marlboro a few hours ago. bureau chief tracee wilkins was the first reporter to make it on the scene. she has reaction from people who witnessed all this unfold. tracee? >> reporter: yeah, this place is known as babe's boys tavern or top of the hill. that's what a lot of people call it, top of the hill. it is the place where plenty of judges, attorneys, police officers, fire fighters come for lunch during the day here at upper marlboro. as you can see behind me, this is what interrupted what was a normal day here. car through the side of this restaurant. let me show you what it looked like when we first arrived on the scene. a number of people were transported here. we're told ten people injured, seven

people seriously hurt. everybody is expected to be okay. the good news is no one was killed here. just moments ago, we spoke with the woman who was behind the wheel of that vehicle that went into the side of this restaurant. here's how she describes what happened. >> you know, my brakes went out. my brakes just went out. i panicked so that's how i ended up over that hump right there and then i come up in here and landed up over there. >> reporter: for the people who were inside of the restaurant when this all happened, it was of course very frightening. i had one person [ inaudible ]. describe to me what it was like as that car went through the building right near where he was sitting. >> car came right through the wall. people were trapped underneath the ceiling and the tables and the wall

>> reporter: prince george's county police are still investigating exactly what caused that car to go through the restaurant here. as you heard from the driver, she thinks it's her brakes. reporting live in upper marlboro, i'm tracee wilkins. back to you all in the studio. >> just an incredible situation there. well, now to a hollywood scandal that is growing. embattled movie mogul harvey weinstein is now facing a new accuser today. >> that's right, and more outrage coming from inside the industry including george clooney and matt damon. they recently spoke out about this case. nbc's jay gray has the developments. >> reporter: as harvey weinstein's hollywood legacy continues to unravel -- >> the historic and it's a shakespearean fall for harvey weinstein. >> reporter: this afternoon, another accuser and more public allegations of abuse. >> i told him no, no, no, but he tried to get him off of

asking him to stop, but it was impossible. he then orally forced himself on me. >> reporter: more than 60 women have accused weinstein of harassment and sexual assault. the former entertainment mogul is at the center of ongoing multiple sex crime investigations in new york and los angeles. >> i don't think you can describe it as a sex addict. he's a preditor. >> reporter: the shocking accusations sparking anger and outrage across the industry. >> furious. this is violating women. this is assault. >> i can't remember anybody getting run out of town like this, ever. >> yeah. >> reporter: an attorney for the movie executive has said any allegations of nonconsensual sex are unequivocally denied by mr. weinstein. weinstein is reportedly continuing counseling and therapy. jay gray, nbc news. >> back here closer to home, an update this afternoon on the peace cross in prince george's county, maryland governor larry hogan is now taking legal action after a federal

the u.s. constitution. governor hogan sent a letter today to maryland attorney general brian frosh and do directed him to file an appeal to keep the cross in place. the fourth circuit court ruled the 92-year-old monument known as the bladensburg cross is government sponsorship of a particular religion. >> we are looking at a change in the temperatures. let's go to storm team 4 chief meteorologist doug kammerer in the storm center. so, doug, we're going up or down? >> we're going down as we move on through the next 24 hours tomorrow. now, temperatures today still in the 70s for the most part and we saw that rain move through overnight tonight. now that rain completely out of here and take a look outside right now. we're looking at some sunshine. storm team 4 radar is dry and will continue to be as we move on through the next couple of hours. take a look at the wider picture here. here's the front and here's the storm that came through last night. bringing us some rain upwards of hatch an inch of rain around the dulles airport. that rain moving up towards new england. look back here where the storm actually is.

in south carolina a suspected tornado destroyed a building there and trees were slammed into homes in both states. winds in hickory, north carolina damaged several planes. no serious injuries, though, reported in either state. >> ours wasn't that bad. the storms in the area that we got, but we got some overnight. >> yeah, we got some rain. we got much needed rainfall. like we talked about yesterday some areas would get a lot more than others. tenth of an inch in d.c., dulles received half an inch of rain. that is the needed rain we need. there is another chance this weekend for the needed rainfall. now we're looking at pretty good conditions outside. a little bit on the breezy side. you notice starting to see some fall color out there in the trees. yep, we're going to continue to see that as we move on through the next couple of days right on into next week looking really good as we move on out, too. temperature wise out there right now, 73 degrees. winds out of the southwest at 15 miles per hour. as we look toward the rest of the region everybody in the 70s. 70 degrees in martinsburg,

culpepper, 72 fredericksburg, 74 in honeytown all because of the southwesterly wind. that wind is going to be changing. it won't bring us rainfall. you have to zoom out a bit, you see the rain today west with the cloud cover, too. that right there is our frontal boundary. let's widen out here. that's the front moving to the northeast. here's the actual storm. you can see it spinning. look on the backside. snow fall on the backside coming down towards michigan, around the minneapolis area and that cooler air will all be coming in our area overnight tonight into the day tomorrow. so, tomorrow a little on the cooler side. mix of sun and clouds cooler, we will see some sunshine, but i think a few more clouds in the afternoon. high temperature around 65. that's right around the average high for this time of year, but you will notice a cooler conditions. so, what to wear again, the jacket, the sweater, maybe the boots out there for the ladies and sunglasses, yeah, i think we'll see enough sunshine you can keep the sunglasses on adds you move through the day. how about fall

the d.c. metro area. high color into parts of the blue ridge. next map update for this will come thursday or friday. i think we're going to see a lot more high color moving in towards our region. so, this weekend could be a really nice weekend to get out to places like sky line drive if you're thinking about doing that. speaking of our weekend, we'll call it a half and half weekend for sure. but before that we get to 65 tomorrow. look at thursday. only 61 degrees on thursday. a very cool day. most of you stay in the 50s and it's going to be rather breezy, waking up to temperatures thursday, friday, 36 in the cooler suburbs. we could see frost early on friday morning. temperature there around 66 for a high temperature. 70 on saturday. a nice saturday, but then sunday, of course, a huge game for us. redskins taking on the cowboys at fedex. 66 degrees. rain likely, especially early. i'm going to talk much more about this forecast for the game and look at this, guys. a high of only 56, a low in the low 40s. that puts the

has come forward to describe harassment and sexual assault by harvey weinstein and more hollywood a-listers now are expressing their outrage. weinstein denies any allegations of nonconsensual sex and is reportedly continuing counseling and therapy. and a d.c. man who was seen running naked from a woman's home in maryland is now charged with attempted rape. that man was supposed to be under court supervision after allegedly assaulting another woman in d.c. last month, leaving many to wonder why he was allowed back on the streets in the first place. >> news 4's chris gordon did some digging today and found out what happened. he's at the jail in upper marlboro to explain. what have you found, chris? >> reporter: well, pat, a lot of people are asking how could this have happened, and we went out searching for answers. sources close to the investigation say that khary edwards apparently disabled or removed an ankle gps that was supposed to monitor his movements and restr h

his home in the district. but instead he was free for days and allegedly committed this second assault. well, we know where he is right now, right in there in custody in the prince george's county correctional center. 23-year-old khary edwards of southeast washington was supposed to be under court supervision. but he is charged with a horrific sexual attack that occurred this weekend. here's the time line we put together from sources familiar with the case. on september 25th, edwards is arrested and charged with sexually attacking a woman in d.c. the next day prosecutors asked for high intensity supervision of edwards rather than requesting he be held in jail pending trial. on october 19th, the gps monitoring device edwards wore triggers a tampering notification. on october 21st, an elderly woman is violently attacked in her camp springs, maryland, home. >> he's charged with attempted murder,
