we did send adam tuss to cath lynn university. we'll take you live as soon as he gets there. 5:03 right now. the naacp has issued a travel advisory urging african-americans to reconsider flying with american airlines. the group says it's concerned about the treatment of black passengers after a series of what it calls troubling incidents. several passengers say they were downgraded from the first class seats they paid for to coach without an explanation. others said they had a hard time accessing wheelchairs and strollers when they got off the plane. we spoke with the naacp by phone. we were told about a board member and how they were heckled on a flight. >> actually give snide comments about him and even threatened him. when the airline associates came back to see what was going on, they decided they would put him off the plane as well. >> american airlines said

we're following some breaking news this morning at catholic university. a shelter in place has been lifted after police search that campus for an armed robbery suspect. news 4's adam tuss live on the scene with more. adam, what happened? >> reporter: well, waking up this morning, eun, and students looking at their phone and seeing there was a shelter in place on campus. the police are going around campus this morning. again, one person has been located and what we're hearing from d.c. police is there was a car crash on north capital street from an armed robbery. two suspects ran towards catholic university apparently and that is why the shelter in place was put in place. take a look at this tweet here from the university that went out this morning. that's why we've been getting calls at the station about what was going on. that tweet tells you,

not a drill. back out here live, students are starting to wake up here and going about their day. the good news is the shelter in place has been lifted. the suspect has been arrested and a weapon has been recovered. guys, we'll stay on top of it for you. back to you. >> adam tuss live for you near catholic university. thank you. 5:13 now. imagine getting a knock at your door and it's police urging your family to stay vigilant because there's a possible serial killer prowling in your neighborhood. that nightmare is a reality near tampa, florida, or near downtown tampa. in the last two weeks these three people have been shot to death within a mile radius of one another. all three rode the bus and were alone when they were shot. the city of tampa is taking every precaution to protect people in the area including having police escort children to school. 5:13.

about an attempted rape. the 81-year-old victim found kari edwards in her garage naked. he chased the victim and locked the door and edwards climbed through the kitchen window and began to choke her. when officers arrived edwards took off with the victim's purse, keys, phone and wallet. they caught up with him a few hours later. edwards was already under court suspicious after allegedly assaulting another woman in d.c. last month. he's now being held without bond. chaos at lunchtime after a car crashed into a restaurant. dozens of customers were inside eating lunch. several of them had to be treated at the hospital. the driver, vernelle robinson, she talked to

scene and another person jumped out and ran away. there was a campus wide shelter in place. adam tuss is getting to the scene. he's going to have an update on this story coming up at 6:00, back to you guys. new this morning, a prince gorges county vol lunl tear fire chief is charged with 49 traffic violations. the charles county sheriff's office said he was arrested on tuesday morning. he's accused of threatening to slash the tires of his girlfriend's car in waldorf and speeding away from officers twice. that final pursuit was in a ford explorer that was clearly marked with prince gorges county fire logos. mysterious bullets found inside people's homes. they're raising alarms in prince williams county. prince william county say no one heard the gunfire when it
