good morning everyone i'm erica. and welcome to news4 midday. we begin today with breaking news. a person working on the key bridge fell seven stories. says he has been rescued but unconscious taken from the scene. this is northwest washington. as as soon as we get more information on what happened and the person's condition, we will bring you up a date. and developing a shooting and a campus scare. still a lot of questions to answer about that shooting. it started in silver spring and ended with an arrest in northeast d.c. >> first found out about when catholic university ordered students to shelter to place. but in started miles away. now with us is to explain what exactly what is going on here. walk us through this, adam. >> reporter: this is a tough one to piece together here, erica. but residents in this community here say that this

they believe this was actually all a robbery. in the middle of the night, gunshot after gunshot. >> it was at least 10, pop pop pop pop pop pop. i didn't know it was gunshots. i thought they were playing with fireworks. >> reporter: he has lived here since the 80s. lives with grandmother and says this was a safe neighborhood. >> i heard the young lady screaming. like nothing happens on this block, that's why when i see police officers and a lot of them something happened. >> reporter: and there were police on the screen investigating the shooting. after this two suspects raced away from the screen eventually crashing on taylor street in northeast d.c. near catholic university. one suspect arrested. the other fled. and that prompted a sehelter in place this tweet saying

misconduct, what personal traits do these men and others share that contributes to them behavioring so inappropriately. and what psychological effects on the victims. they offer this workplace sexual harass. thanks for being here. how common is this in the workplace? >> so when they've done studies on these, and very few studies on this topic, but it suggests that in this country one-third of woman will report that they've experienced sexual harassment in the workplace. but only a quarter of them actually went and reported it to the higher ups, the hr department, et cetera, in the workplace. now i think a lot of viewers might say, particularly the men who might be watching, will say isn't this just men being men? for the more minor things.

and not men just being men. and the reason i say this here the numbers are one-third. when they did a study in denmark the number is 5%. so only 5% report this. so clearly heavy cultural component to this. >> and seems like those numbers are low because women may be hesitant to report sexual harass nmt t ment in the workplace. bull you say another reasbut yo. what do you say? >> a lot of them start questioning themselves, was i doing something, sending the wrong singlegnals, and oftentims you see with sexual assault a lot of women will say this is too painful. i want to block it out f my mind and imagine it never

with t and what we find is women experienced this type of thing anxiety depression and in some cases post-traumatic stress disorder. now some of this will depend on the level of sexual harassment. so spectrum, right, you can have the sexist comments or sexual comments and can range all the way up to sexual assault. and obviously the degree of sexual harassment will determine to some degree what type of response the woman ends up having. but also know the younger women are more prone to have negative consequences from this particularly young and early in their career because they don't know better. it eats away at their self-esteem. >> we have seen men this this situation men of power. are there other personality traits? >> i think really what we are look at at least foor these men, roger

and i think with what happens with some of these men, if they view women at their disposal for their own pleasure, so they feel like they somehow have the right, have this narcissistic quality and feel you know what i should be table to do and say what i want to do. particularly if they have power, they nolo likelihood of retribution, woman doesn't have much they can do, or don't think they can. we've have these men go down and number of years. >> have to change that mindset. real quick, because we are running out of time. but what advice do you have for women who find themselves in workplace and in a situation of sexual harassment? >> seek good counsel. if you have an hr department, talk to them. write things down. document, document, document. talk t
