commuters. what are you seeing there? >> reporter: good morning. that tree is gone but the road is still blocked off. obviously, a problem as the morning commute gets under way. this is in the 3800 block of canal road near fox hall road. the road is behind me. it's hard to see the area from where we're standing. it's hard to see anything out here this morning. it's very dark. making the roads pretty dangerous out here. it's dark, raining and a lot of leaves and branches. especially if you take the rural back roads. when i was driving in, it was hard to see the lane markings as i was driving. as you're headed out, be sure to go slowly and be careful. back to you. >> aimee cho live in upper northwest d.c., thank you. justin finch is live on the road for us this morning. >> he's looking at some of the spots you need to watch out for because of the weather. looks pretty windy.

in special counsel robert mueller's russia investigation. >> we expect the first charges. while the white house hasn't directly commented on today's expected indictments, president trump took to twitter yesterday to vent broadly about the investigation. he blamed democrats for, witch hunt for evil politics. meanwhile, speculation has been in overdrive with prominent politicians left in the dark about what's going to happen. >> we haven't been informed of who it is and it wouldn't be auto appropriate for bob mueller to tell us. >> grand jury secrecy is important to the effectiveness of a grand jury investigation. >> at this point we still don't know who has been targeted and for what kind of alleged crime. among those under scrutiny, foreign lobbying work done by chairman paul manafort and former national security adviser michael flynn. both denied any wrongdoing. coming up on

no time for a young woman to react to the boy who jumped on to her suv from a highway overpass. this morning we're learning more about that woman. marisa harris graduated from toeson university. on saturday, she and her boyfriend were driving down i-66 when a 12-year-old jumped off of a cedar lane overpass. the boyfriend steered the suv off of the road. harris died instantly. the boy is in the hospital with critical injuries. today marks -- the former head of security in rockville will be sentenced. he pled guilty to a count of sexual abuse at a hearing last month. i don't know sews befriended a student and bought her a cell phone to text with her during and after school hours.

tracie, we heard these names before. we know they've been a focus. could they be charged? might it be completely somebody under the radar? >> we don't know. they could be targets under investigation. >> man fort's home, his virginia home was raided back in july. an unannounced raid to him. certainly, there has been scrutiny of those too. could there be smaller fish? that's what some attorneys are speculating. or they could be going after people who were uncooperative. calling their bluff to get them to cooperate. or they could be casting a wide net. we could see more than one indictment to see who talks first. we don't know who the indictments are for, we don't know what the indictments are for or what the charges are.

educators surveyed says their mental health was not good. some of that stress is coming from budget cuts, school bullying and even politics. the study also found that one in five teachers gets eight or more hours of sleep a night. not getting enough sleep. an alert without -- the national highway traffic safety administration is launching a pilot program that will notify drivers in maryland to any open recalls when they register their vehicles. congress gave the agency authority to plunge -- maryland was the only state to apply. it's also that time of year again, holiday shopping we're talking about here. and people are planning to spend more this year apparently according to a survey conducted by the national retail federation. people will spend just over $967. that's up 3.5% from what people said they would sp
