4th of november, 2017. i'm david culver alongside my friend angie goff. >> reunited once again. >> back together. >> it's feeling cool, finally. >> i wore a couple layers. i had a jacket on this morning. lauryn ricketts is tracking it in the weather center. >> a little chilly. absolutely right. you'll definitely need the jacket out the door this morning. temperature in the 40s and 50s. we also have a little bit of a wind that started picking up late last night. we're seeing that right now. it'll continue to diminish throughout the day. 52 degrees here in the district. outside the beltway, temperatures are in the 40s. it is chilly out there. we may dip into the 40s here in d.c. as we go through the morning before we start to rebound and take those temperatures back into the mid to upper 50s. that's where we'll top out today. it is much cooler out there. we have timing changes on that

forecast for today. and some unsettled weather into next week. we'll show you the timing of the rain today and also the unsettled weather we're going to see next week. that'll be coming up in about 15 minutes. >> we'll check in with you then. meantime, we want to get to this difficult morning for several folks in the district. six people forced from this apartment building in northwest. d.c. fire says the flames broke out around 2:30 this morning. last check, good news here, no one got hurt. crews had to work hard to put out the fire. not clear exactly what sparked it. also developing this morning, there is a search underway right now for a highway shooter in the state of maryland. nobody was hurt, but maryland state police tell us at least four vehicles were shot at along i-270. this is just after 8:00 last night. a viewer tweeting us this picture, saying her car was the fifth car hit. police have not confirmed that at this point. you are taking a look at video

showing the interstate around that time. maryland state police say this happened near shady grove road in rockville on the northbound lane. you may have been one of the thousands of drivers stuck on the beltway yesterday, because of a robbery that led to a police chase, leaving one suspect dead. we're getting new video from the robbery. darcy spencer shows us what happened. >> reporter: surveillance video shows the brazen robbery at this cash depot in wheaton. the armed and masked robbers jumped the counter and told customers to stay down while they ransacked the store. this man was there when it happened. he's wearing the white shirt. >> had guns. >> reporter: the robbers may have gotten away with even more, but a

door in the secure area. >> they say, "let's go, let's go," in spanish. she's calling the police. >> reporter: the robbers ran out and got away, but not for long. >> got a description of multiple masked subjects, armed. we also got a description of a vehicle, a white chevy van. >> reporter: police spotted the van and chased the driver on to the beltway. the van crashed. one of the suspects bailed out. he was struck and killed by a montgomery county police officer driving an unmarked car. police arrested four suspects right on the interstate. this is just one of the guns they say they found in the van. police say these guys could be linked to two other hold-ups in wheaton last month. one at a gas station. the other, a food truck. police released these composite sketches of two of the robbers. to give you an idea of how frightening it was for employees, the woman working behind that counter had to be

well. we're waiting for montgomery county police to identify the man who died and to identify the others facing charges in the robbery. in wheaton, darcy spencer, "news 4 today." now to the district where a man could be charged with a hate crime for attacking a panhandler. happened in georgetown in broad daylight thursday afternoon. we know that the victim was asking for money at the corner of wisconsin and m street when 40-year-old richard moore, according to police, yelled a racial slur at him. the victim is black. moore is white. police say moore then followed the victim into an alley and hit him with a metal object. working to find out how that victim is doing this morning. as for more, he is charged with assault. parents aren't happy with the results of an audit of prince george's schools. hundreds of students graduated

requirements, and it was based on pressure on teachers to graduate the student. there was no evidence of system wide crime. >> i have never done that. my team has never done that. this report, we've never done it. >> it came after being asked to investigate tampering of grades. two members responded to the allegations. >> what i heard today was a ceo and a board chair celebrating the fact that they were not directly tied but that we still graduated hundreds, if not over 1,000 students in the past year alone who did not meet the state graduation requirements. that is very troubling. >> prince george's county schools have to respond to the state by january. they have to have a plan to fix the issues found in the adudit. 6:06. a battle brewing over a popular beer garden that wants to open a second

signs have popped up in a logan neighborhood. it's where the new garden would go. the new spot would hope up to 0 60 -- hold up to 600 people. opponents say it should seat 200. there is worry about live music and trash. reporters say this is what many people want in the city. >> the most popular desire of the d.c. residents is to live in sustainable, livable, walkable communities, where these amenities are outside their door. >> d.c.'s alcoholic beverage control board will make a decision by january. >> beer gardens creates a booming night life in the district. d.c. might add a so-called night mayor. new york and london has someone like this. the person's job would be to work with business owners, local government and the community about some of those night life

yesterday was nice if you wanted to go outside, maybe to do some jogging out there. well, today, it's going to be chilly. temperatures remain in the 50s today. but the good news is we're going to be dry for the majority of the day for most of us. we have rain moving in from the southwestern portion of virginia. it'll move to the north and east. going to have some rain later on this evening. the exact timing for your neighborhood, that's coming up in about three minutes or so. >> ricketts, we'll see you then. want to tell you about this disturbing story out of arlington. police say a man attacked and raped a woman on a sidewalk. they say this woman was visiting from out of town. this morning, they're looking for this attacker. investigators tell us the woman was confronted by the guy around 10:30 thursday night on south randolph street. the attack was not far from a metro bus station. the victim

loading groceries into her car. the man assaulted her from behind. >> it is surprising, especially for the area. >> definitely really scary. >> it is disappointing. someone is obviously taking advantage on a vulnerable moment. >> that is a nice area, too. despite a mass i mive manhunt, police can't find the attacker. they need your help. if you know anything, give them a call. new york city police are building another case against harvey weinstein. this time, an actress explains her alleged rape experience in 2010. >> police are going as far as to say if the allegations were more recent, they would absolutely make an arrest. nbc's kate snow has the details. >> reporter: the new york police department confirming they're gathering ed to seek

warrant for harvey weinstein, based on interviews of paz paz de la huerta. >> she gave great details. it happened seven years ago. >> reporter: detectives said if weinstein were in new york city right now and the assault were more recent, he would be arrested. >> right away, we'd make the arrest. >> reporter: the actress's lawyer telling nbc news he expects charges. >> her story is of high interest because there are futures from the legal perspective that make it a compelling criminal case. >> reporter: a senior sex crime prosecutor is assigned to this investigation but won't comment further. weinstein unequivocally denied any allegationsover n s of non-consensual sex. there is also investigations of weinstein in the los angeles area and london. also in london, metropolitan

police investigating a 2008 sexual assault, surrounding kevin spacey. he hasn't been seen publicly since last week. nbc news spoke on someone who worked on the set of "house of cards" for two years. colleagues felt uncomfortable with spacey's behavior and complained to superiors. he gave special attention to men, especially the lower-level production assistant. adding, there weren't secrets about the behavior. there was one complaint about spacey during the first year of production, saying it was resolved promptly with spacey undergoing training. we are deeply troubled to learn about these knew allegations that are being made to the press concerning kevin spacey's interaction with members of the crew of "house of cards." >> nbc's kate snow reporting there. new images from the terror attack in manhattan have just been released and they show the suspect, sayfullo saipov, getting out of the renttr

you can see the paint ball guns in his hands. you can see -- actually, as you know, eight people were killed when police say he rammed his truck down a bike path and mowed over people. new barriers are in place along the path to keep cars from entering the area. following tuesday's terror attack in manhattan, an unprecedented security trap underway in new york city because of the new york city marathon. when runners take their mark tomorrow, they'll notice thousands of uniformed officers along the course. thousands more will be in plain clothes. the nypd will also use blocker vehicles and have snipers on rooftops to protect runners and spectators. ♪ oh, yeah. google honoring superstar selena, for the 28th anniversary of her first studio album. now the latear

the morning. in fact, dry for a good portion of the day. then after about 3:00, we're going to have rain chances increasing. nothing happening on the radar in our area right now. the south is where we're seeing some of the rain. it is moving at a slow pace, but it is going to continue to lift. i believe it'll cross over i-66 after about 3:00/4:00 today. again, we're going to have light, scattered rain showers as we go through the evening. but the key word is they are going to be light. let's go ahead and time it out for you. 7:00 a.m., a little sunshine. the sun comes up at 7:39. clouds on the increase. here comes the rain. look at this. not until after about 6:00 here in the d.c. and baltimore metro areas. light, scattered rain showers continue into tonight. maybe a little drizzle tomorrow morning before we get a few peeks of sunshine into tomorrow afternoon. temperatures a lot warmer tomorrow. we'll be in the mid to upper 60s. the ten-day forecast. set the clocks back.

search absentee. president trump is making his first trip to asia today. yesterday, he made a stop in hawaii. after greeting the governors of hawaii, alaska and the pacific u.s. territories, paid a solemn visit to the pearl harbor memorial. president trump also meeting with leaders of the u.s. pacific command to talk about north korea's nuclear threat. then he's going to head to japan for his first stop in asia. 6:33. back at home, a trial date has been set for president trump's former campaign chair. it all has to do with the russia alleged meddling investigation. manafort and his long-time business associate were indicted earlier this week for money laundering, conspiracy and other federal charges. the charges stem from before manafort joined the trump campaign. manafort is currently under house arrest. a big year for "meet the press, "marking

weekend, the longest running show on television, which is no easy feat. the milestone will be celebrated tomorrow. you can catch it right here after news 4 today at 10:30. the d.c. mansion murders. so far, the lone suspect still awaiting trial, has a court hearing on monday. news 4's megan fitzgerald talked with the family's housekeeper, who thinks about the family every day. >> reporter: a brutal nightmare played out inside this home two and a half years ago. the family and their housekeeper were held hostage for 18 hours, tortured and murdered inside their woodland drive home. only one suspect has been charged. >> sometimes i'm so distraught

>> reporter: gutierrez was the family's long-time housekeeper for decades and could have been inside the mansion that day if not for a twist of fate. but she still remembers how nervous and unsettled amy was in the weeks leading up to the murder. i spoke with her this week. she didn't want to go on camera but says amy wasn't herself. >> called me and said, oh, nelly, amy locked me out with the dog. i said, why? she said, oh, she went to get flowers, you know. how can she lock her out with the dog? >> reporter: that wasn't the only sign that amy was under a lot of stress. amy sent her this e-mail on april 19th of 2015, that we're seeing for the very first time. nelly says she misplaced small things like phone numbers and e-mail addresses and was constantly changing nelly and vera's h
