baltimore. now, according to on investigators there, he and a woman were sitting in a parked car on he wielgin avenue when se opened fire. a woman did not want to being identified, but says in an area not beingaccustomed to gunfire. >> i heard like six goveunshotsd i looked out the window and police came. >> reporter: mason died at a hospital, the woman he was with shot in the leg and she was treated for that gunshot wound. she indeed it survive. investigators are working with folks here on all as petals pece life to see if this leads to the indication of why it happened. we understand mason was on no contact status pending a local investigation here with the metropolitan police department. derrick ward, news 4. back tyo

abducted and then found last month is once again missing this morning. prince william county police want you to take a good look at your screen at the girl's photo. cruz is just 16 and police say that she left her home in woodbridge late last night. if you see her, please contact police immediately. well, this morning we have an update on the local las vegas shooting victim from maryland. >> yes, tina frost was shot in the face during a mass shooting last month in las vegas. you're looking at video from that horrific night that none of us can forforget. frost's family spokesperson says that she talking and walking again. we're alsoed to that the life long soccer player is able to kick a soccer ball around. her family says although she is able to talk, she doesn't fully understand exactly what she's saying, so she will start working with a neuro psychiatrist soon. but certainly any good news with her is positive.

family now and their pets after this devastating fire destroyed their home. look at some of these pictures that montgomery county fire officials put out on social media last night. this home is along cabana court in germantown. officials say the electrical fire was started by an outdoor flood light. the fire caused nearly half a million dollars in damages. we now have learned what kind of weapon was used during that scary shooting on i-270 in rockville. montgomery county police tell us that a pellet gun was used to shoot at cars along the highway, this all happened friday night. a viewer sent us a picture of her damaged car, but police have not confirmed that she was targeted. you can see it there. police say four cars and a montgomery county ride-on bus all had damage, no one was hurt. but the police still want to know who fired that weapon and if you have any information, please do give them a call. this morning there are new details about the beltway police chase, you may have

montgomery county police now identifying the people in the surveillance footage you can see on your screen here. five were arrested after the armed robbery at a check cashing store. they were all caught following the chase on the beltway. a sixth man was hit and killed by an unmarked police cruiser when he got out of the van. police say that one of the men arrested, miguel rivera, was involved in this gas station robbery, this is one that happened in september. and a fight at a bar has turned deadly. authorities found garnett outside the vel looocity 5 bar. he had been stabbed. he passed away due to his injuries. police have arrested a man in that stabbing. a man is in jail after he tried to grab and kiss a

trick-or-treater. deputies arrested sayed vafaei on friday. a girl says that she was out trick and treating on halloween in ashburn when vafaei grabbed her head and kissed her on the cheek. deputies say they have uncovered possible additional in-counters involving this man. they are asking anyone with information to please call them. the 68-year-old is charged with assault and battery. tuesday is election day in virginia, and the gubernatorial contest between ralph northham and he ed gillespie, big stakes for the democrats ahead of the midterm elections. >> with president trump's job afl afternoon approval rating in the 30s in virginia, can dems seize on that environment and win the state where they have enjoyed success over the last 12 years. >> or can republicans pull off the upset especially after their earlier special congressional victories in ghrg and mondeorgi montana. >> northham enjoys almost every structural advantage including

today 50,000 runners will take on the new york city marathon. >> such a cool event, but it happens only days after a terror attack near the world trade center that killed eight people. the nypd will have thousands of officers on duty and spread out throughout the course there, the national guard will also be there as well as extra equipment, dogs and blocker vehicles. new york governor andrew cuomo talked about his concerns for the day. >> you'll have officers on duty this weekend, but i want to stress this is just a precaut n precautionary measure. >> the governor insists that runners and spectators do not have any known threats to worry about today and says everyone should feel comfortable. and at 9:10, ddot wants to know how bad you want that prime parking spot. starting tomorrow, ddot will test out a

right now, local las vegas shooting victim tina frost is walking and talking again. that is good news. a family spokesperson for the young maryland woman tells our station in san diego that although sfros able to talk, she doesn't fully understand what she is saying. she will start working with a neuro psychiatrist soon. there is a hunt for the person who killed this off duty d.c. police officer, sergeant tony mason jr. was shot and killed in west baltimore early saturday morning. detectives say a woman was also shot but she is expected to be okay. sergeant mason was on noncontact status with the police department at the time. while you were sleeping, the clocks turned back an hour. so it will be very dark when you get out of work tomorrow. a lot of changes that we all need to prepare for. that extra hour, you either love it or you hate it. sometimes it's good for people. with our family, all the kids

>> reporter: people running through metro stations, but not to catch a train. they are running to catch the people who stole their phones. below ground and above. brazen criminals snatch phones in a flash right out of people's hands. it happened this summer at a doughnut shop on new york avenue and months earlier it was jeanette oliver's phone. >> i grabbed for my phone and it wasn't there. mine was taken in church of all places. >> reporter: where she is choir director. she says a visitor grabbed it from her purse. >> you want to be welcoming because it's church after all. and it was gone. >> reporter: the news 4 iteam pulled police records in d.c., virginia and maryland and found something we didn't expect. several police agencies report the overall number of phone thefts is actually dropping. as technology allows more owners to brick or lock their phones rendering them inoperative if stolen. but we also discovered that

thousand of phone heists are getting more physical. is it scary? >> after the shock wore off, yes. >> reporter: maryann has never seen the video until now of the moments after a man stole her phone on capitol hill. he hustled off e street and toward a metro train. >> and it was like on a monday morning. i had to process what just happened, did i imagine this? no, i didn't imagine it. my phone is gone, my bag is gone and i see him in a cloud of dust. >> reporter: the iteam found one big pattern, an easy escape route. in recent weeks, the crooks struck near the door of a cvs pharmacy. another near an open space in a crowd pizza shop and as the doors of a train opened. police say we're leaving ourselves too vulnerable to these snatch and grabs, holding our phones right out in the open, having ear buds in our ears while we walk focusing too much on what is in front of us and not nearly enough on what is around us.

turned to brown and then fell. and that is what we're seeing on the roadways right now. so be careful when you're traveling because it's so slick out there. look at this fog. plus low visibilities, the mist out there. this fog is going to lift. it will take a bit, but it is going to lift as we get into the afternoon. so faog hanging on. and we do have driving conditions that you will have to watch out for. again, as i mentioned. we're warming up today a little bit. i had to lower temperatures because the fog is holding on. so 60s today and then we'll cool down. but the visibility is down quite a bit. if we get some sunshine, which i don't think we'll get a lot of today, you will find it in the shenandoah valley. current temperatures on out there right now, we will stay in the 50s until we get this fog out of here, be until we get the low cloud cover out of here. we do have some rain in the forecast. not necessarily this afternoon. we will be dry this afternoon, just cloudy. and then we'll have rain throughout the day tomorrow. could be heavy

it will drop our temperatures tuesday, wednesday, thursday. and then the front stalls and along it, these little disturbances bringing us chances of rain as we get in to tuesday, wednesday and thursday. so just some shower activity next week. not a lot on the radar, but it is not picking up on the fog and mist made is out there right now. 65, i think so that is doable here in the d.c. area. a lot of areas on out to the east will be in the low 60s. so 60s all around. again, we have some cloud cover out there right now. it's not clearing as we continue into the afternoon. so not the prettiest of sundays. we have rain on the way again tomorrow with the frontal system. along i-81, expect it mid morning. around here in the d.c. area, after lunch. it should be gone as we head into dinner, but there could be a few spotty showers around. but again, spotty hours of heavy rain. so tomorrow you will need the umbrella, brain jacket. temperatures will start in the 60s and then we end up in the low 70s. warmer, but
