threats. just before 3:00 montgomery county police alerted secret service to be on the lookout for him. they say he reportedly traveled to d.c. to "kill all white police" at the white house. about an hour later secret service officers found arega on the north side of pennsylvania avenue near lafayette park. they arrested him without incident. fairfax county police are relying on pictures and a license plate number to help them find a missing mother and her 3-year-old daughter. gale farrah, who also goes by stasia, and her daughter maya farrow, were last seen at 6:30 last night at their home in falls church. detectives believe they left in a blue 2012 toyota highland ewih virginia plates. vjg 2156. i'll repeat that. vjg 2156. police call police if you think you've seen them. turning now to our weather tonight.

way after another pretty mild day of temperatures. >> we've got a bonus today. doug, is it really going to start feeling more like november tomorrow? >> big-time, guys. big-time. we're talking about much cooler weather making its way in here during the day tomorrow. and that cool weather sticks around the rest of the week and right into the weekend too. we've got some very cold air making its way in. first off today we saw highs around 70 degrees but watch what happens here. the cool air to the west all moves into our area, and by tomorrow afternoon these numbers down into the low 40s in some parts of the area, and not just 40s. we're talking 40s with rain. we saw frontal boundary move through. that's going to allow the cold air to come in. but look back to the west. we're tracking this storm system right now. it's going to move right across our area during the day tomorrow. i do expect rain by around midday tomorrow. we're going to talk much more about that and how it affects your morning commute and your evening commute. i'll take you hour by hour, and we'll talk about the extreme cold for this time of year coming in later this week.

doug, thank you. tonight a woman and her toddler are recovering from serious injuries after police tell us a shoplifter pushed them down a flight of stairs. he was trying to get away from the h & m store at the chevy chase pavilion in northwest d.c., and that's where we find news 4's jackie bensen tonight with details. jackie, just awful. >> reporter: jim, 15 concrete stairs. a long, hard fall for this unsuspecting shopper and her toddler. d.c. police were called to the h & m store in chevy chase pavilion about 5:00 sunday. they found a shopper and her 2-year-old son both with serious injuries from being pushed down a flight of concrete stairs by a pair of fleeing shoplifting suspects. accordinging to court documents, the mother had a possible broken ankle. the 2-year-old had a bleeding four-inch-long gash on his chin.

barack obama voiced robo calls urging people to come out and vote for democrat ralph northam. and a conservative super pac sent out robo calls friday to discourage liberal democrats from coming out. just a few hours president trump weighed in on the governor's race during his overseas visit in japan saying this, "the state of virginia economy under democrat rule has been terrible. if you vote ed gillespie tomorrow it will come roaring back." earlier tonight both northam and gillespie were out working to rally their supporters and even those who may still be undecided. gillespie spoke to voters in fairfax while northam campaigns in norfolk. >> economic growth and job creation and wage growth, virginia should be first in the country and we're going to be when we win this election tomorrow. >> we live in a very diverse society. and you know what? it's getting more diverse every day. and the diversity of this country and this commonwealth is

a maryland woman who survived the mass shooting in las vegas is making unbelievable progress. for the first time tonight we have video of tina frost taking her first steps at johns hopkins. news 4's kristin wright takes us inside her road to recovery. >> reporter: tina frost is taking incredible steps. five weeks after she was shot in the head in las vegas and survival was not certain, tina is walking. her physical therapist and also her mother by her side. she's holding her daughter's hand through days of intense therapy. >> they're not sitting vigil by a bedside. they are active. they are busy. all day long she has physical therapists and occupational therapists and speech therapists that are in and out multiple times a day. >> reporter: family friend amy klinger went to see tina at johns hopkins wednesday and recorded the video. the first time we're seeing the young woman from maryland in her amazing recovery.

the green silk costume worn by show creator lin-manuel miranda is going on display at the smithsonian's american history museum. it was donated during a special ceremony this morning along with this oil painting of alexander hamilton's wife, eliza. both items are part of a new exhibit that pays tribute to the unique relationship between philanthropy and the arts. mrs. hamilton raised money to open a children's orphanage 200 years ago that is still in operation today. cast members of the musical are among its biggest supporters. >> so we raise money every spring and fall and ask audience members to donate. this goes back to grand wyndham, the orphanage. >> pretty cool. the exhibit opens march 22nd. history and the art together with raising money for a really good cause. so election day in virginia tomorrow. how's the weather going to affect that? >> i would vote early. get out there early. because the rest of the day does not look good. as a matter of fact, i'm not calling tomorrow weather alert day because it's going to be a day that really affects you weatherwise because of the fact we've got this rain that's going to be making their way in here. yes, our tuesday weather alert day because of rain and much colder temperatures out there. take a look at what we were dealing with a little earlier this evening. oh, it was coming down into parts of our region. dodging the rain in northwest d.c. for sure. and i think this will be the scene just about all day tomorrow. see, if you didn't have the umbrella, yeah, that's what you'll be using. whatever you've got in the car. whether it's a blanket or a coat or whatever. you're going to need it tomorrow. again, we are calling tomorrow a weather alert day because of the fact we're going to see those colder temperatures and we're going to see the rain moving on in. this comes after a day when we hit 72 degrees at dulles, 73 gaithersburg, 70 d.c., an incredibly warm day. that warm air

hurry and it will be doing so right after the overnight hours. winds out of the north 12 miles an hour down to 58 degrees in d.c. most areas still above average for this time of year currently. 61 right now in huntingtown. 55 in gaithersburg. temperatures will be going down all day tomorrow. nothing on the radar right now but as we widen out here you see the front that came through. that's the front that came through. now the cold air is starting to come back. back to the west we're watching this storm system here. this storm system has a lot of rain and a lot of moisture associated with it. this is going to be so cold, parts of pennsylvania could see some snow from this. not too far away from us. that's the kind of cold air we've got moving in. tomorrow morning 7:00 a.m. no problems for the a.m. rush. i think the a.m. rush is fine. i mentioned vote early because watch what happens by around noon. the rain really starts to come in here. rain all across our region. look to our north. franklin and fulton counties. if you're watching us you could see a little bit in the way of some snow in the northern part of that county but for the rest of us it is just rain.
