you the shirt off their back. >> reporter: horrific violence shattering families and a community. in sutherland springs, texas, sara, nbc news. >> two shoplifters running away from the store pushed a mom and two-year-old old downstairs. and today both men are in custody. it happened sunday. police say the men had just shop lifted and were trying to get away from the store. both suspected are being aggravated assault to a child.

$200 worth of close from h and m. looking for armed suspect. happened on tubman road. police say an off duty officer saw a man trying to burglarize the home and suspect got away and no one was hurt. new video showing a daring rescue in california where a man alive today because police would not give up trying to save him. dash cam shows him inside car trapped in fire, they were able to pry the door off the car. but as they started to rescue the man, the flames reunited put them all in danger but pulled him out of there. but five officers got purnd bur the process. >> a university suspension for fraternity pledge

who plays beth is joining us this morning. good morning, susan. >> good morning. how are you doing? >> great. we just saw the scene where beth talks about her new foster child. as an ac re actress, how fulfil this? >> oh, it's great. it's like, i don't have to ask for any adventure, it all happens on the page there. they are so creative with where the show is going and they have such a vision for it. and, you know, they appreciate even our input, our feedback, and it's so collaborative. but the writers really are making something that is really so authentic. and they take such time to research it and to make sure it all makes sense. and that it all sort of lines up. and we get to play it. it's a really, really amazing

miss it. i love t i have an adoptive daughter so i feel i know how you things are going through things and developing. but we slowly have learned more about beth as character. so do you think more surprises to come for us? >> there are. you know, there are always are. and i keep saying this, because it's true, i don't think it's meant to be a surprise. i just think you have to get comfortable to the idea that the show is just slowly always unpeeling the layers. it's like a slow peeling onion and taking the time to do it. so it's not designed to be a show all these spoilers but ends up being that way because it takes the time to tell the stories of their lives. you don't get all the information up front. and it will make sense in the way that we tell it. and sometimes in it's order and sometimesou
