busy stretch of georgia avenue. right now, d.c. police looking for a man with tattoos on his face. two people were shot around midnight, georgia at kennedy street. we're working to learn the condition of the second victim. this is the second shooting on that block this week. several streets in the area have been blocked off right now. look at that monster. this is a person? this is the coward that took our child's life. >> the parents of a murdered prince george's county woman describes how they felt looking at the man who is a navy veteran who took their daughter's life. ashanti billie's parents are demanding answers. the suspect was apparently homeless and living inside a naval base. as jackie bensen shows us, there are new questions about whether more could have been done to protect her. >> angry again. >> after suffering a grief that

according to court documents, she was known to sexually harass her and others. >> to provide freedom to someone who took my daughter is harsh. >> the billie family started a foundation in her name. they want to set up some type of protocol to help other families of missing people, something that would allow them to take advantage of social media and other things very early on into the search for their loved ones. jackie bensen, news 4. later today, a woman will be sentenced for throwing urine on a metrobus driver. opal brown pleaded guilty last month. she did test positive for pcp following her arrest back in august. it was a shooting that shook congress and people who lived in a neighborhood in alexandria when a gunman opened fire at a congressional baseball practice earlier

today the five officers who risked their lives will be honored by the u.s. capitol police. several folks, including house majority whip steve scalise were injured in that shooting. scalise will be at the ceremony today. mike pence said evil descended on a small town where a gunman opened fire inside a small church. nine children were among the 26 people killed. police say devin kelley walked into the sutherland springs church sunday morning and started shooting. kelley had a dispute with his in-laws who attended that church. last night the vice president offered the condolences and support of the entire country. >> no attack. no act of violence will break our spirit or diminish the faith of the american people. we are with you. the american people are wuchlt. >> members of the church say kelley and his children attended their annual

festival five days before that shooting. earlier today, president trump criticized what he calls the "very one-sided and unfair trade relationship between the u.s. and china" but he stopped short of reprimanding the chinese president. the u.s. and china signed agreements for $250 billion of product including u.s. made jet engines. as if you needed another sign that christmas is around the corner, here's one. today crews will be cutting down the christmas tree that will eventually go on display at the u.s. capitcapitol. it's an engel man spruce coming from a national forest in montana. the tree lighting takes place in early december. that one i don't mind, chuck. it's sort of like, they got to cut the tree down, haul it across the country. a lot going on. also a new study

we're following up on that breaking news on georgia avenue. two people shot around midnight. you can see several streets have been blocked off for much of the night. justin finch is on the scene right now. justin, what are you hearing? >> reporter: chris, good morning. we can tell you right now, many of those streets are remaining closed right now. we're talking about georgia avenue, illinois avenue, kennedy

northwest. we're here off of kennedy, the police working on that corner where the two officers are standing. they're looking at what appears to be evidence on that scene there. we do know that two people were shot. one person actually has died from their injuries. another suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. police are still arriving to continue their investigation of the crime scene. units here now on scene. we expect the area streets to be closed for a bit of time. several streets closed and we'll bring updates throughout the morning. >> thank you for keeping us abreast of that, justin. the latest on the scandal involving actor kevin spacey. he's being cut out of his latest film. all the money in the world was set to premiere next month. he's being replaced by
