a lot of traffic in the area. police believe that the woman was trying to cross the street and she may have been hit by more than one car. the driver of a minivan did stay on the scene and is cooperating with police. investigators believe that there may have been another vehicle involved that did not stop. so they are looking for witnesses to come forward to figure all that of out. it was about 6:30 last night. it was dark. the woman was apparently trying to cross the street when she was struck and killed. this time of the year of course, it gets dark earlier. pedestrians have to be very, very careful. police say the drivers need do their part too. >> drivers, don't drive distracted. look out for the pedestrians. when it's cold and wet, realizing they may make an error. >> so a little after 6:30 last

night. that's when it happened. anyone in the area may have seen something. they've seen another vehicle leaving the scene that perhaps had damage. if you have that kind of information, you're asked to call police. >> megan mcgrath in silver spring. thank you. we have breaking news in montgomery county where two people are hurt in a stabbing near the rockville town center. this happened at 10:00 last night. a large number of police had a home surrounded on north corners lane. police say a suspect was inside the home claiming to have a gun. the person eventually surrendered to police. police believe one of the people hurt was trying to break up an argument between the suspect and another victim. today a family accusing a former maryland teacher's aide of abusing their child wants to help protect students in the future. attorneys for the family of one of carlos bell's victims want to announce a lawsuit. they want a change in policy in the charles county school system. local prosecutors say bell also

kelley had a dispute with his in-laws. an atm in fairfax county, if it will catch a suspect. the person used a gun to shoot at an atm at the bb&t bank on richmond highway. the would-be crook used the weapon and walked away empty handed. we've got breaking news in new york city. you just have to see it to believe it. an apartment building in upper manhattan has a gaping crack up an exterior wall. this is at least a couple centimeters wide and is splintered from the second floor up to the roar. crews had to evacuate residents on thursday because it is in danger of a partial collapse. fire officials say it's unclear what caused the crack. some residents had time to get their belongings together. but here's the heartbreaker. some still had pets insideat
