a woman rushed to the hospital in critical condition after flames tear through her prince george's county home. a neighbor says the timing couldn't have been worse. i'm going to show you national harbor. storm team 4 counting down to the big christmas tree lighting, and tracking rain that's headed our way. >> i feel like he's coming down. let's take a look again. >> and we're live at fedex field where one of the best catches that you're ever going to see wasn't enough to lift this game. a fire gutted a home in prince george's county and left a woman critically injured. good evening, i'm erika gonzalez. darcy spencer is live

firefighters raced in that home to try to save. darcy? >> reporter: well, there's a restoration team here at the house right now. you can take a look here. they're removing some of the debris from the front yard of this house. also boarding it up. i just heard from the spokesperson for prince george's county fire. he tells me that there were no smoke alarms inside this house, so chances are this happened without warning. we want to show you a photo of the house when it was on fire. there was thick gray smoke and flames. investigators say it appears the fire started in the basement, then extended to the first floor of the home. the victim was found in the basement and was rescued by firefighters. now, neighbors say a woman has lived here for many, many years with her daughter. those neighbors are concerned the woman has lost everything at the start of the holiday season. >> my husband was getting ready to go to the redskins game. he came back and said the lady's house was on fire. i went and

said, oh, that's the lady that always give us our mail. i feel real sorry for her. she's without a home, her home is gone. i don't know what they're going to do. the holidays are coming up. so i don't know. just really feel sorry for our neighbor. >> reporter: back out live, investigators are still searching for the cause of the fire. right now they're saying it's undetermined. a prince george's county firefighter was also injured, suffered burns to his ears. he is expected to be okay and the safety message here, it's very important to have smoke alarms in your house and make sure they're working. back to you. >> darcy spencer in capital heights for us tonight, thank you. we are working to learn the name of the driver killed along i-66 this morning after being hit by a suspected drunk driver. this happened in the westbound lanes of 66. police say dustin tran took off after the crash. they found him in his badly damaged suv about a mile down the road. he's charged with dui and

two other people in a couple of other cars were also hurt in this. fairfax county police looking for the gunman who shot a man at a restaurant overnight. the gunfire broke out in falls church. medics found one man shot in the upper body. he's in the hospital right now in critical condition. police don't know what led up to the shooting or if it happened inside or even outside the restaurant for that matter. kfc is sending its condolences to the family of a worker found dead in montgomery county. police found the body friday next to a dumpster in wheaton. elmer campos martinez who worked with him as a cook is charged with second-degree murder. campos-martinez admitted to being in a relationship with the 21-year-old mother. they are offering support and counseling to co-workers and the family.

all right, so temperatures have been well below average throughout the weekend, but we are on a warming trend. i can't wait to get to that. but we do have rain in the foreseeable -- i'd say the next couple of hours we could get some showers in here later on tonight so that's going to be a hot topic we're talking about. for now in the immediate future, i want you to know temperatures are in the low 40s so if you're planning on heading out for dinner, you don't have to worry about the rain, 7:00, 8:00, 9:00. it's not until 2:00 a.m. until we get the chances for rain moving into our area. i'm going to break it down and i've got a forecast for the tree lighting. i'll talk to you soon. a woman fought off a burglary suspect after police say he forced his way into her home. this happened friday afternoon on kenny gray court in southeast. a second man acted as a lookout. the woman fought the man, pushed him out of the house and then locked the door behind him. officers later

it's going to be cold. the good news is we're dry. but i want to make sure that everyone is bundled up. temperatures will be in the low 40s at the time they're lighting the tree, so definitely stay warm. now, rain is in the forecast and we'll get to that in just a moment. here are four things you need to know. we are not expecting rain this evening. showers will begin late tonight. we could even see some pockets of freezing rain, very isolated in nature. i'll show you the areas that could pick up that. and we are in a slight warming trend, believe it or not. i'm not going to say warm, but warmer than we have been seeing this weekend. here's the radar right now. you can see already seeing some showers farther west of i-81, just south of hagerstown there. they are very light in nature and that's what we're expecting, light showers tonight, back towards the del marva peninsula, also picking up lighter rain. now, the rain is going to be moving through overnight. bigger picture shows the whole setup. we've got an area of low pressure that will make its way towards us. we've also got rain that's impacting southern maryland and the easn

through tomorrow morning. let's time this out and take a look at the model right now. really giving everyone a shot at seeing very light showers overnight around 2:00 a.m. the pink to the north of us is denoting that wintry mix or freezing rain, and i think depending on how low temperatures go along i-81 and farther west into western maryland, eastern west virginia, we could see isolated pockets of freezing rain there. for everyone else, we are staying pretty clear of freezing rain, just light showers. moving to 7:00 a.m., notice who's waking up to the showers. areas like southern maryland as you head towards the eastern shore. we could see lighter showers there. but the big picture does show us drying as we head throughout your monday. by the afternoon, that rain is out of here and we even get some clearing on the back end so we might get some peeks of sunshine for your monday afternoon. that's good news. tuesday starts off quiet, dry, some clouds with us but i think we'll see mostly sunny conditions on tuesday. so your bus st
