that outline the school's lack of oversight regarding the teacher's aide you saw there, deont deontay carraway. justin finch is live with a look at this report. justin? >> reporter: hey there, aaron. shocking claims here. the report here cites several witness accounts which include claims that deontay carraway touched students unnecessarily and also that he even physically and verbally abused students. the post is also reporting that the complaint about carraway began early in his time here. the suit cites a fourth grader said carraway's cell phone had things with children on them. saying, quote, they were nasty things. administrators here were slow to act. the report pointing out that then principal michelle williams allowed carraway around children despite allegations. her lawyer said that is not

the teachers heard gunshots and placed their small school on lockdown. police say the gunman approached the school with a semi-automatic rifle. he tried to get into the classrooms but couldn't so he shot at the windows. one student was hurt before the gunman took off. four people were killed before police shot and killed the suspect. we're staying on top of a possible military coup in zimbabwe. chris lawrence at the live desk. >> aaron, right now the military is securing government offices and patrolling the streets and they have the president and his family in custody. here's our first live look at the capitol. everything seems fairly calm at this point, at least in this one part of herrari. it follows a chaotic night in which the military took over the state broadcasting system and notes that it's targeting the people near the president. some people are calling it a coup but they say

i'm the only one that can unite democrats and republicans because i seem to be opposed by both. >> moore spoke at the god save america conference at an alabama church. he claims republicans and democrats are working together to get him to drop out of the race. many republicans on capitol hill say they'd rather have a democrat than him. inova fairfax hospital is working to reschedule more than 100 elective surgeries after a strange discovery. sand-like particles were found on sterilized equipment. hospital official says the particles appear to have come from the sterilization process itself. surgical equipment from other inova hospitals will be used for surgeries scheduled for today. this may sound familiar to you. just last week the va medical center in d.c. was forced to cancel surgeries over concerns about the safety of surgical

airfares. aaa has some interesting information about the longer you wait, procrastination on airfares. if you wait an extra day, every day until thanksgiving that equates to about $10 a day aaa is saying. in other words, if you wait two days from now, the ticket will be $20 more than if you just booked it today. that's an interesting thing to consider. take a look here, on the roads, google maps has actually crunched some numbers and figured out when the best and worst times to leave for thanksgiving travel is. the best day to leave thanksgiving is 6:00 in the morning. the worst day to leave, the wednesday before thanksgiving at 3:00 in the afternoon. all of us know that's the case. a terrible day to leave. the best day to come back, sunday, early in the morning, about 6:00 in the morning. the worst day to come back, saturday in the afternoon about 4:00 in the afternoon. back out here live on the roads as we're with all the commuters this morning. you know, it's best just to start thinking about what's going to work for you.

you're watching "news 4 today." police believe a serial killer has struck again in florida. a homeless man walking to church is believed to be the fourth victim in tampa. police say the serial killer seems to be picking the victims at random. the latest victim was shot just blocks away from a memorial honoring the other three people killed in the last month in tampa. two brothers will now spend years in prison for beating a man on a metro train. you're taking a look at the

surveillance footage from a red line train where the attack happened. the man was beaten and then robbed of his phone back in april. antoine heney was sentenced to seven years in prison for the robbery. his brother, marcus lee, was sentenced to seven years for the same charge. he no longer takes metro because he's afraid of being attacked. and we're getting a look at new video from the shaw neighborhood in d.c. it shows a group of people beating a man with a baseball bat and robbing him. this happened last friday morning outside of the lincoln more land apartments. video shows the woman hitting the man with a bat as two men kicked him. a fourth man stands by and watches. according to the police report, the victim was on his way up to his girlfriend's apartment. the attackers stole several items from his pocket. if you recognize the people in the video, call police. you've got to see this piece of video. this is from howard county police. they're looking for the woman you see h

police in northern california say a dispute between neighbors may have led to a shooting rampage. a gunman shot his neighbor and headed to an elementary school yesterday. quick thinking teachers had already placed the school on lockdown. the man was not able to get into the classrooms but shot through the windows. one student was hurt and four people were killed before the gunman was shot and killed by the police. new details about the school sex abuse scandal that rocked prince george's county. the washington report said the school staff allegedly knew about multiple complaints about deonte carraway's activity a year before his arrest. he's accused of sexually abusing 20 children. justin finch will have more at 6:00. turning now to decision 2017, democrat joshua cole has filed a lawsuit over the ballot counting

bob collins leads him. stafford county's electoral board did not count 55 absentee ballots found at the post office the morning after the election. cole is suing to have those votes counted though. he hasn't said if he will demand a recount. >> we have a debate over where to put medical marijuana dispensaries. they're allowing four of these dispensaries in the county. to consider cutting those distances in half community leaders on both sides made their case to the county council. >> it is appalling. >> the patients are your neighbors, your church members, your family. >> after hearing from the public the council decided to keep its distances as they are. while they couldn't add churches to the

you're watching "news 4 today". this morning we're learning more about the man accused of killing a mother in a bad crash in loudoun county. at the time of the crash tony dane was facing several felony charges in nevada. he was indicted for extorsion and wire tapping last year. he told investigators his brakes failed and he was unable to stop before slamming into the situation gone. it happened on evergreen mills road. he will be in court for a bond hearing. he is facing several charges including iol

manslaughter. well, do you know whether your car is part of one of those major airbag recalls? >> maybe you just haven't had a chance to fix the problem yet. now there's one car company going door to door to track down owners with recalled cars. honda said it's on a mission to find those drivers and if they find out you have a recalled vehicle that was not fixed, they will do it for you on the spot. >> there have been recalls since 2008 and 2009, they've never been fixed. we're knocking on the doors to talk to them face to face. >> talk about customer service. data shows that about 30% of car owners with a recalled vehicle never get it fixed. that number is even higher for older vehicles and honda isn't the only automaker using this unconventional tactic to reach customers with these open recalls. fiat chrysler is also trying to reach out. >> that company is sharing its takata recall data with

which members of congress have been accused of sexual misconduct, but two female lawmakers said at least two sitting male lawmakers, one republican and one democrat, are currently under review. one of them accused of exposing himself to a female staffer. we learned yesterday that complaints on the hill require a 30 day cooling off period before women can file suit. >> the requirement to sign a nondisclosure agreement which is a muzzle on the victim. the victim has to stay in that office for three months and continue to be in a very uncomfortable situation. >> 1500 former hill staffers have signed a letter saying they want to see reform for what they say are, quote, inadequate sexual harassment policies in congress. new mandatory sex harassment training is expected in the senate and house in the coming months. there is a growing effort underway to cut down on the number of people who over use 911 and make it harder

look at things this year. they say that for every day you wait between now and thanksgiving the price of the ticket will go up $10 per day. if you book two days from now, the ticket will likely be $20 more expensive. that's not something you have necessarily heard before. they are also talking about the best times to get out of town when it comes to the roads. now take a look here. google maps has actually crunched some numbers and found out that the best day to leave is thanksgiving in the morning about 6:00 in the morning. the worst day to leave, yeah, wednesday at 3:00 in the afternoon. of course, the day before thanksgiving is always terrible. the best day to come back, sunday early in the morning if you can do that as everyone is still recovering from all of the turkey. and the worst day to come back, saturday at 4:00 because people might now be trying to get a jump after thanksgiving for the holiday. on the road, 45 million people expected to travel for the thanksgiving holiday. of course, all

really just some fog around. that's the biggest issue. the clouds will be shaping up. chilly out there. 37 now in washington. just a little hint of a north wind. it has the feels like factor down into 33 degrees. suburbs, temperatures in the upper 20s. gaithersburg, rockville. 26 in manassas. 27 out towards the blue ridge and the shenandoah. take about 4 or 5 degrees off the numbers and that's the wind chill. gusty tomorrow afternoon and then again on sunday. so there's a lot of wind in the forecast. our main issue that we're watching today is the increase in clouds out across parts of ohio. that will bring a cloudy finish to the day. a chance of rain during the late evening and early, early parts of the morning. plenty of sunshine first half of the day. clouds thickening up. after 8:00, 9:00, up to 2:00, 3:00 tomorrow morning it was a chance for a quick shower or two.
