don't get used to it. check of the weekend forecast coming up. >> thank you, chuck. we're following a developing story where a violent night left one woman dead. we tracked four shootings in four hours. when you look at this map, you see it was spread out across the district. five people were shot in four different locations. here's what we know about the fatal shooting in d.c. around 7:00, a witness heard a hail of gunfire from an alley. the woman was found dead on the doorstep of her ant building. now we've learned she had just moved in after getting a new job. we're following breaking news in baltimore where a massive manhunt is under way for a man who shot a detective in the head. the detective has been on the force in baltimore for 18 years. he's on life support right now. the shooting happened last night about a mile from the inner harbor. baltimore's police chief says the detective was investigating a recent murder. he

not much in the way of a rain threat going forward. as the front itself comes by, relatively little moisture with it. it will be a shift in the wind. temperatures in the upper 40s in midtown. mid-40s in the western suburbs. low 40s in the shenandoah valley. as you try to get your day started, it's thursday. clouds around early today. but the clouds should clear out as the wind sets up shop. temperatures for highs today, mid up toer 50s. might even be near 60 towards fredericksburg. the highs will happen around 1:00 in the afternoon. by 4:00 temperatures dropping into the upper 40s and low 50s. it will be rather cold if you're out on the town. you might event -- date night on a thursday for you, know you need to layer up. windchills below freezing. by 8:00 or 9:00 this evening. then for highs today, there you have them. upper 50s around downtown. by the time you get around to tomorrow morning, cold once

with a little bit of a remaining breeze, windchills tomorrow upper 20s to around 30 degrees. that's a cold start on a friday morning. friday afternoon, not bad. back up to the upper 40s to around 50. the winds tomorrow, northwest, 15 to 25 miles per hour. then the wind finally lays down for your friday evening plans. there's a high chance for rain but it's probably not until after the sun goes down for most of us on the i-95 corridor. it should be gone before sunday morning. it will be very, very breezy this weekend. southwest winds mean temperatures in the low 60s before the rain on saturday. and a really strong west, northwest wind means temperatures will be falling during the day on sunday. but at least the weekend will start and end dry. sheena is here and we have the ten-day forecast assuring me that's 20

thank you very much, chuck. america's most famous mass killer in the hospital. tmz reports that charles manson, 83-year-old inmate has been in the house. he's not improving. he was rushed to the hospital early and this year for severe intestinal bleeding. back in the 1960s manson ordered members of his cult to carry out several brutal murders in los angeles. disturbing new developments in the deadly shooting rampage in northern california. they found his wife's body in the floorboards of their home. they believe her murder started the killing spree on tuesday. he was out on bond after being charged with stabbing a neighbor a day before the shooting. he shot 14 people, five of them died. he was killed in a shootout with police. they think his motive was kill as many people as he could. a man described as a dangerous psychopath is in

shot. >> chris lawrence at the live desk with the latest. chris, what's going on here? >> he's on life support, guys. doctors are trying to treat the injury to his brain. the baltimore police department isn't identifying the detective as of yet. we know the shooter is still out there on the run. as we show the scene, here's what we know. police say the detective was investigating a recent homicide wednesday night when he saw a suspicious person. the detective started talking to him. the man pulled a gun and shot him in the head. there's now a $64,000 reward being offered for information leading to that arrest. meanwhile, we have also learned the detective has a wife and two kids. they're said to be praying for a miracle. a lot of other folks are too. back to you. >> chris lawrence, thank you. we're also following a developing story in the district. a violent night in d.c. that left one woman dead. there were four shootings in four hours. take a look at the map here. the shootings were spread out all over the city.
