shootings did prove deadly. a woman, the victim in that case. the fatal shooting happened on just street in northeast washington. it was a little before 7:00 last night when the shots rang out. now, a person who lives in the area, they reported hearing about 20 gunshots coming from the alley behind the apartment building there on just street. the woman was found by police dead on the doorstep of her building and we have learned that the woman had just moved to the neighborhood after getting a new job. at this point, no word of any arrests in that case. that deadly shooting also, they are still looking for suspects in the other shootings that happened. a total of four shootings, five victims in all of this and police are looking for witnesses and information. back to you. >> megan, thank you. it's 5:04. we're following breaking news. a baltimore homicide detective is clinging to life after being

with the latest. >> the shooter is still on the run. the baltimore police chief is not ready to identify the detective. police will tell us he was investigating a recent homicide last night when a man shot him in the head. it was a mile and a half from the inner harbor and not far from the university of maryland in baltimore. the detective has a wife and two kids. the medical team is doing all they can to keep him alive. >> he is critically ill. he is on full life support up in the intensive care unit. he's really, really, really sick. we are doing everything we can to keep him stabilized and to take care of the injury to his brain. >> sort of under scores how serious his injuries are. a lot of folks will be praying for him. officials are offerg

reward for any information that leads to an arrest. back to you. >> chris, thank you. it's 5:06. residents in a temple hills neighborhood are hurting this morning. they're mourning the loss of an elderly woman who was a pillar in the community. the elderly woman died after being trapped inside her burning home yesterday. it happened on lorraine drive. neighbors tried to pull the woman and her son out of the house but the fire was too intense. >> i definitely heard the lady in the house yelling for help. the front door was open. but the heat was too much. i tried the side door, kicked it in. smoke hit me in the face. just choking. >> firefighters pulled the eld ye erly woman and her son out of house.

the fire. a new twist in the controversy surrounding alabama senate candidate roy moore. four new woman have accused him of making inappropriate advances. despite that, the alabama republican party is sticking by moore. meanwhile, he is taking on senate majority leader mitch mcconnell on twitter. overnight, moore quoted, dear mitch mcconnell, bring it on. mcconnell called on moore to drop out of the race. this morning, actress rose mcgowan is expected to plead not guilty to drug charges in loudoun county court. it's unclear whether she'll appear in court this morning. police say cocaine was discovered in her walton a plane in dulles airport back in january. mcgowan was in town for the women's march. she says the drugs could have been planted. she's among several actresses who have accused weinstein of unwanted sexual advances. today begins a

for parts of prince george's county. >> it's the future site at suitland center. >> justin finch is at the site. tell us more about it. >> reporter: hey there, eun. the county has wanted to do this for more than two decades. they've begun leveling the tloond relaunch and rebuild this stretch of suitland and silver hill road. take a look at this. town square at suitland federal central. this will be a mixed use development, building out in three phases beginning now and going into the year 2020. first, the infrastructure next year, town homes and senior housing. the final phase, 80,000 square feet of the performing arts center. between 350 and $400 million. this should create s

disturbing new developments in the deadly shooting ram page in northern california. investigators found the

the wife of the shooter in the floorboards of her home. they believe her murder started the killing spree. kevin neal was on bond after stabbing a neighbor the day before the shooting. he shot 14 people, five of them died. he was killed in a shootout with police and police believe neal wanted to kill as many people as he could. a series of surgeries to reconstruct tina frost's face has -- her mother says surgeons are reconstructing her forehead and eyelids. she lost one of her eyes in the shooting. she's being treated at johns hopkins hospital in baltimore. video shows her learning to walk again. her mom said they are taking everything day by day. today we expect to learn more about a bipartisan deal. it's reportedlyes

close gaps and background checks for those looking to buy guns. five senators are attaching their names to the bills. senators chris murphy and richard blumenthal of connecticut have been fighting for gun legislation since 2012 when 26 people were killed in the massacre at sandy hook elementary school. republican kim scott of south carolina signed on as well, two years after nine people were killed in a church in charleston and senator john cornyn has been compelled to act after 26 people were killed at a church in texas ten days ago. president trump is headed to capitol hill to rally house republicans before their vote on a tax cut package. that vote expected to happen this afternoon. tracie potts will have a look at whether they have the votes to pass this measure in a bit. ocean city is considering changes to prevent attacks on the popular boardwalk. our news partners at wtop report that changes are in the

attack to attacks on crowds. they're asking for new barriers at vehicle access points. there are 33 points and three more will be added in the off-season. the additional barriers could cost more than a million dollars. the hope is to have permanent barriers installed by summer of 2019. this morning, new york city police are looking for the thieves who stole a bag with a jaw dropping anlt of cash in it. we're talking about $190,000. this new surveillance video caught the crime in action. the victim is from africa and was bringing money to his family. it's not clear whether the thieves knew how much cash was in the bag. >> the 46-year-old victim was not seriously injured. but ncarrying around that cash. a new record. salvatore mundt i sold for $450

>> we'll have to check the kid out when they're born. >> a gusty wind coming our way today. as much as it's a relatively mild start, the last nine days have all been colder than average. our longest such streak of colder than average weather since may. the warmest day so far in the month of number, 57 degrees. that makes it the coldest first half of november in 27 years. hard to believe. in fact, it's the 7th coldest november on record to this point. and there's more cold to come over the next ten days or so. right now, 48 degrees. still a south wind. that's the reason temperatures are relatively mild this morning. 15 degrees warmer than yesterday. low 40s in the shenandoah valley. mostly mid to upper 40s around town. there will be a gusty northwest and west wind later on in the afternoon. afternoon highs today, mid to

the streak of consecutive days colder than average with temperatures into the upper 50s. but there's more cool air to come. there's the cold front there. still back out to our west. it comes through here today. you'll notice when it comes by. you're going to feel that wind shift direction and the air will start to feel colder and drier. here's a look at future wind gusts. these numbers are all wind gusts in miles per hour. look at this. later on in the afternoon, 2:00, winds between 20 and 25 miles per hour. staying that way into the evening. with temperatures dropping quickly, we'll have windchills below freezing this evening and into the overnight. not too much wind for friday. by the time we get up on saturday morning, southwest winds, 20 to 30 miles per hour. saturday evening, a cold northwest wind with winds between 30 and 40 miles per hour. so a lot of wind coming our way for the weekend. saturday will be warm. rain likely late saturday evening intoat

y2kqoy y16fy the focus on capitol hill will be tax cuts. >> house republicans expected to vote on their plan and president trump will be there to give them a last minute boost. tracie potts is following what we expect to see from capitol hill today. tracie, do republicans have the votes they need to pass the measure? >> if all republicans support it and but we're not seeing it on the senate side, house votes just deals with the $1.5 billion in tax cuts that they're pushing. still unclear if more middle class or more wealthy families and individuals would benefit from that. so the president plans to show up in person, not only to put the pressure on republicans but addressing some of the democrats who are pushing back on this. not up for a vote yet. the senate plan that

of dollars in federal cuts. d.c. has until december 8th to prove it's following -- it requires jail to hold undocumented -- if not, the justice department will pull federal crime fighting grants. community members are suing the district over its handling of a library renovation. the capitol view library has been closed for months now. the group says the city failed to provide temporary library services the way it did for renovations in other parts of the district. the city says the library will open in december after interior renovations are complete and close in the spring for exterior renovations. the city says an interim library will open in the spring. >> the news 4 i-team uncovered a s

expected to bring. >> are residents happy about this, justin? >> a lot of people are happy about this. part of a vision the county has been planning for, for more than two decades. take a look. a mixed use development here called town square at suitland federal center. it will close to 900 apartment units. senior housing as well as single family attached homes. every one of the renderings seem to love it. construction here is in three things. starting now and ending in about 2020. it will cap off what some 80,000 square feet of retail as well as a performing arts center. this should bring 1200 construction jobs. the cost between 350 and $400 million. a major investment in some already standing attractions like the suitland metro nearby as well as the u.s. census bureau.
