"early today" starts right now aefr. >> good morning, i'm frances rivera. >> and i'm phillip mena. >> a 5-alarm fire at a senior living community, the blaze was reported 1:00 a.m. eastern in westchester. the inferno nearly destroyed the building and quickly spread to others. forcing 140 seniors to evacuate into the bitter cold, some in wheelchairs and beds wrapped up in blankets. one woman saw the plumes of smoke from her homeless than a mile away from the assisted living community. >> i looked out the window. it looked like a sunset and that's how big the blaze was going at that point and i knew something was going on with the helicopters and fire trucks and ambulances. police cars everywhere. >> more than 20 residents have been rushed to local hospitals. those who were not hurt are being reunited with loved ones at a nearby shelter. the red cross is also responding to help those displaced. so far the cause remains unknown. >> this morning the u.s. senate is grappling with a separate case involving allegations of

just last week he was lecturing anyone who would listen about sexual harassment and respect for women adding leslie stall tape. >> this morning congressional republicans are one step closer to passing a tax reform bill that's been decades in the making after the senate finance committee passed the gop plan late last night. as republicans looked to usher in over a trillion dollars in cuts for individuals and corporations, the president is already taking a victory lap on twitter, saying the bill was passed despite zero dems supporting it. still while the bill ways able to muster enough republican votes in the house, it looks like it may be an entirely different matter in the senate where a new and revealing numbers they could throw a wrench in the plans that as we learn the president and his family could actually save millions if the bill ultimately becomes law. for more on this we go to nbc's tracie potts in washington. tracy, good morning. >> reporter: philip, good morning. new nbc analysis takes a look at the impact on the trump family if this bill goes through. but first the joint committee on

moderate income families. for people making between 10 and $30,000, eventually their taxes will go up. their tax rate will go up in 2021. and on all income groups making under 75,000, same thing. it may just take a little longer. bottom line here, it looks like people who are of moderate incomes may not benefit from this according to that analysis. but the trump family would. nbc has taken a look at the one tax return that we have seen from the trump family, and it looks like they can save up to a billion dollars, that's the president and his heirs, according to our analysis of that 2005 tax return in the president's estimated net worth. here's what the president said in september about the impact of tax reform on his personal family fortune. >> no, i don't benefit. i don't benefit, in fact, in fact, very, very strongly, as you see, there's no -- i think

republican candidate roy moore as additional women come out to accuse him of inappropriate conduct. the latest poll from fox news now showing the former judge 8 points behind his democratic opponent doug jones. the two men were tied just weeks ago. well, still, as prom nebt republicans calm for moore to leave the race, the contentious candidate has vowed to fight on. he's even bringing in faith leaders from across the country to pledge their support. nbc gabe gutierrez reports from alabama. >> reporter: roy moore refused to answer specific questions about the latest allegations against him. >> they're not only untrue, but they have no evidence to support them. >> reporter: but he vowed to stay in the race flanked by more than a dozen religious leaders from across the country. >> this is an effort by mitch mcconnell and his cronies to steal this election from the people of alabama and they will not stand for it. >> reporter: this as more women are coming forward to accuse moore of unwd

leading the news part of the keystone pipeline was shut off thursday. through several states after leaking over 200,000 gallons of oil in south dakota. an environmental official told nbc news the oil was contained to an agricultural area and did not reach any bodies of water. the pipeline's operator transcanada said it is investigating the cause but provided no information offense whether it might reopen. this comes as one of the most heated environmental debates in u.s. history is spilling back into politics. the senate energy committee advanced a bill wednesday that would allow drilling on alaska's arctic national wildlife refuge. senator lisa murkowski championing the bill asserts drilling can be done with minimal harm, but environmentalists say it would destroy the nation's largest wild refuge. opponents also slam the proposals' ties to the gop's tax overhaul effort. the drilling is estimated to generate over a bilon
