she's standing by in the storm team 4 weather center, tracking a chilly start. >> another chilly day to start this saturday morning. unfortunately, we've got rain on the way. we're going to have a few showers out there today. more rain overnight. the main story is going to be the winds that pick up over the weekend. live capitol camera showing a beautiful view out there. it's 6:00 a.m. more clouds will be taking over as we continue through the day. it is just going to be really a wet day if you're in some portions of the region. other portions not so much. temperatures right now at 40 degrees. we will have a few rain showers, mainly north of the district, as we go through the morning and into the midday hours. north of i-66. temperatures right now are low. we could even have a few areas of spotty, freezing rain, as we go through the morning. do not think it is going to cause any problems. especially up through

that'll be something we are going to watch. rain moves in, temperatures being to rise. we'll show you that and let you know what to expect for tonight with timing of the rain coming up. guys? >> thank you. all roads are back open at fort hunt road after an officer-involved shooting. one of the officers shot at the suspect who was wanted in connection with another crash. >> officers were not injured. despite rumors that came out on social media, the officers were not shot at. the scene is secure at this time, and there is no active threat to the community. >> the crash ended in a residential neighborhood. >> i was following her tweets last night. news 4's jackie benson was at the scene and spoke to concerned residents. >> reporter: the vehicle believed to be the suspect's crashed at the intersection of forun

avenue in the mount vernon area of fairfax county. residents of the quiet neighborhood quickly realized something bad had happened. >> we heard a loud boom. we weren't sure what it was. could have been a gunshot or a loud crash. at that point, we were like, okay, this is just getting nuts. we locked the doors, you know. something is going on. >> reporter: at least part of the incident involved the pursuit by united states park police. it stretched down the george washington memorial parkway south of reagan national airport. at some point, the suspect's vehicle veered off the parkway to anderson avenue. the crash appears to happen as the suv attempted to turn right on fort hunt road. fort hunt road was closed for hours for the accident investigation. jackie benson, news 4. time is 6:03 on this saturday morning. developing right now, we're learning the baltimore police officer in d.c. was killed in li

been shot with his own gun. baltimore's police chief says all the shell casings at the scene are from the detective's gun. investigators vow they are not ruling anything out. they continue to look for a second gun in nearby abandoned row houses. police also looking for the shooter. investigators say the suspect, they believe, is still in maryland and may have telling wounds. >> friends, family, acquainta e acquaintances who know someone with a new, unexplained injury, and they're either seeking treatment unconventionally for the treatment or they're not seeking treatment at all, or they're being treated by friends and family, that would be something we really need to know about. >> and they are putting a lot of money out for a reward. they want to find this individual. anyone who can catch detective sutter's killer.

he grew up here in d.c. >> he has a lot of people in our area that love him and are struggling with their loss. friends and family members spoke to news 4's shomari stone. >> i'm just leaning toward the lord for comfort and understanding. >> reporter: louis relies on faith to help him get through this difficult time as he mourns the loss of his close friend, the fallen officer. >> upset. >> reporter: the detective was shot and killed in the line of duty this week. >> you can't help be selfish and feel that, if i was there with him, it wouldn't happen. >> louis holland is a retired baltimore police officer who lived in prince george's county. he joined the force 18 years ago. he talked to sutter last week. >> talking about his daughter playing volleyball. >> he was pronounced dead at a hospital surrounded by his wife, five children and friends, including louis

i'm an advocate for women. i continue to support their voices. end quote. after a series of tragedies at campuses across the country, ohio state university is now the latest to ban most fraternities as it investigates alleged hazing and alcohol abuse. it is an aim moved at preventing future tragedy. blake mccoy reports. >> reporter: in a drastic move, ohio state is cancelling nearly all fraternity events, sending a letter to organizations, because almost one-third are already under investigation. quote, this is an unacceptable high number and the university will not tolerate behavior that puts the health and safety of students at risk. student body president andrew jackson, a fraternity member himself, agrees. >> it is an opportunity for us to take a step back and look and really do a deep dive into the issues that might be happening. >> reporter: ohio state, the

latest school just this fall to suspend greek life amid concerns of drinking, hazing or sexual misconduct. joining the university of michigan, florida state, louisiana state and texas state. four students have died this year while pledging fraternities, including 19-year-old timothy piazza, served 18 drinks in an hour and 22 minutes. >> they then left him to die alone and they tried to cover it up. >> reporter: his school, penn state, resumed greek life but under tight, new restrictions. this could be a turning point, say experts. >> greek system is on notice. if we're not able to clean up these behaviors, we may not have greek life in ten years. >> reporter: at ohio state, students hope the suspension will be temporary. >> i think they need to find a middle ground. >> there's a lot of problem s nt with all the frats, just a couple of them. >> blake mccoy reporting there. following the major storms that hit the u.s. this year, home construction at the strongest pace in

system is trying to form along the coast that may make it wet with more clouds. something to keep an eye on. temperatures now, 30s and low 40s across the region. as you wake up this morning, temperatures will remain in the low 40s. we have a few showers throughout maryland and a few spotty rain showers as you go through the morning. for most of us, we are going to be dry. temperatures in the mid to upper 50 ss for daytime highs. the storm team 4 radar, not seeing anything out there right now. we do have a few showers trying to work their way through maryland. an area of low pressure is going to climb out of the ohio valley and track to the north. most of the activity is going to stay north through the day today. a cold front will come through later on tonight. that'll spring us a chance of rain, for everybody overnight tonight. i'll time it out for you. here's the time. 6:00 a.m., we're dry. more clouds building in. most rain showers today are going to stay north of i-66 in virginia, north of route 50 in

hospital as a precaution. this is a heartbreaking story this morning. talking mothers, fathers, grandparents, among those still unaccounted for in what is a massive fire that tore through a senior living center. >> this story is devastating. here's what happened. the flames erupted late last night at a senior center in west chester, pennsylvania. 150 residents and staff were forced out into the frigid cold. 27 residents were rushed to the hospital. we're talking about elderly people here. some couldn't even walk. as the flames spread quickly, staff members were racing against time. >> black smoke. you can't see. you couldn't see. i didn't think about me running out and leaving them in. i thought about getting them out. >> goodness. >> outside in the cold. oh, my, it was cold. >> all you think about is your grandma, your loved one, you know? >> exactly. >> the mayor of westchester doesn't know how manyop

afternoon and throughout this evening. right now in the storm team 4 radar, temperatures are still a little low up here in western maryland. we may see patchy, freezing rain as this moves to the east. this is an area of low pressure moving out of the ohio valley. continue to track to the north. we're keeping raine chances to the north. a cold front will bring more chances of rain overnight. 11:30, here's i-66. route 50 is right around here. again, most of this activity stays to the north. then as we continue through the day, we may even get a little bit of drying period overnight tonight. more rain headed through the area. then we rapidly clear out tomorrow. we'll have sunshine. ben, it'll be blustery tomorrow. temperatures will be falling, most of the day spent in the 40s. we'll have wind gusts up to 40 miles an hour. we'll have strong winds up to about 40, maybe 50 mile an hour at some time. it'll be breezy through monday. temperatures on monday will be in the 40
