right now, many of you are getting ready to hit the road for thanksgiving. we've been keeping an eye on the traffic since very early this morning. take a look at the highlights there. we're going to get you caught up on the traffic hot spots and how airports are dealing with the crowds. we're going to take a look at travel weather over the next several days no matter where you're heading. i have the forecast for you and how cold it will be for thanksgiving. cbs this morning airs for the first time since allegations against co-host charlie rose surface. hear how the network and his co-workers are dealing with

controversy. good morning. welcome to news 4 midday. we're going to begin this morning with thanksgiving travel. lots of people have already packed up the kids and taken off to grandma's house. if you haven't left yet you may want to wait. transportation reporter keeping an eye on the roads this morning and the rails as well as the airports. he's live with a look at what you need to know if you're headed out. adam, tell us what is the deal. >> patience. patience is the deal. take a look at i-95 here. not too bad right now but certainly as we go through the day things are going to pick up and yeah, you need to have a transportation game plan whether you're on the roads, rails or at the airport. when thanksgiving's around the corner. >> stop the grocery store on the way home and get everything

your trip is equally as easy. back live along i-95 aaa says the worst spot in our area will be 95 in the fredricksburg area. traffic will pick up as we go through the day today and tomorrow. >> patience is the word. thank you so much. more now from the marshal pm parking will be free for the first hour in hourly garages. there will also be 50 extra spots in the cell phone lot. the arrival area will be less congested. shuttles, taxis and ride sharing vehicles will now have to pick up and drop off passengers on the departure level. all these changes will be in effect through mid-january. expect

holiday rush. amtrak has scheduled extra trains this week and a greyhound is anticipating record number of passengers for thanksgiving as well. some travelers say they wanted to get a head start this morning. >> they're trying to get out early. i was up at 4:30, took the metro down to unionati station. >> we pretty much dodge like a lot of really busy commute since we came here so early. we've been okay so far. >> amtrak is urging tasze ining to get to the station about 45 minutes before your train is said to leave. greyhound is telling passengers to arrive one hour ahead of time. looks like the weather is pleasant at least here for all the holiday travelers. can we expect any problems today for folks headed out? >> not weather problems. it looks really good. we started off with a cold morning

it's not only drivers that have been impacted here. we're told people living in the nearby landmark terrace apartment woke up to find low or no water at all. right now new carvings are being unveiled on a marine core war memorial. the illustrations you're about to see symbolize the wars in afghanistan and iraq. the soldiers that made the ultimate sacrifice. these are the first carvings to be added to the memorial since 1996. this is a live look here. this is part of a multi-million dollar rehabilitation project. it is going on there. there will be limited access that will be going on through the month of february.

some 800,000 young people have been in legal limbo. >> just walked out the briefing a short time ago. two plaintiffs filing suit against attorney general jeff sessions as well as acting secretary of homeland security. saying right now the fate of the young people are at stake with daca being on the table here. this gave education and employment authorization to some 800,000 people across the children brought here as children by their parents as illegal immigrants. he says this is the only home

he's known. he wanted to stay here. his daca expired at the time of the announcement that they were changing the program. he said he was planning to renew. daca was being phased out. >> one of the things that mr. sessions did not announce in his press conference but was implemented on the day was the changes was the rule that said you have up to a year after it expires to renew was change without any advance notice what so ever. the new rule was if your daca has already expired, effective immediately it's too late to renew. >> i'm tired of this. life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. >> that suit was filed

behavior. president trump is expected to speak with russian president vladmir putin on the phone today. the two leaders will discuss syria. the conversation comes a day after putin hosted syrian president assad in the resort city. it's the second time assad traveled to russia to meet with putin in the course of the six year zifcivil war. tomorrow the president will make for talks before the u.s. sponsored peace talks resume in geneva. in less than two hours president trump will pardon the national turkey. he's going to choose between drumstick or wish bone at the white house. let's pardon both. the holidays have also arrived at the executive mansion. first lady welcomed the white house christmas tree with son

to have their fireplaces inspected. the search continues for two of three teens missing from prince william county. the girl you see in the center of your screen here has been found. they say she was found safe in the district. however, ashley and tameria wright remain missing. these girls were reported as run aways on november 12th. they may be in a silver honda crv. a little girl told us she's so scared she can't sleep. she spoke about the man who exposed himself to her and the girl isn't the man's only victim. >> reporter: when children are victims. >> most children don't look for the make and model of the car, tag number to let the police know exactly who it is. >> reporter: now this mother's walking her daughter to school

delegates. if you're hitting the road for thanksgiving your kids may be buckled up in the back. it's important to make sure they are riding in the right booster seats as well. new this morning, dan has the recommendations coming straight from the experts. for children ages four through eight a booster seat can be a lifesaver if the fit is right. >> make sure the lap belt is riding flat and the shoulder belt is fitting snugly at the center of the shoulder. >> reporter: the insurance institute is out with recommendations for new booster seats. 13 of 16 received the highest rating of best bet. >> if a booster gets a best bet ratings it means it will provide good belt fit for any child 4 to

this week on news 4 we're visiting local families to try out some of their favorite holiday dishes. today they're stepping into a kitchen to learn how to make mashed powe tape toe stuffing. >> the recipe is my grandmother's and i spend a lot of time with her. you can smell that stuffing coming in the door. my grandmother loved the thanksgiving dinner and we'd cook it all yearlong. it starts with mashed potatoes and then has bread. it's not a dressing. it's a stuffing. >> i like that, mashed potatoes in the turkey. >> then what? >> take your loaf of bread. >> like you're feeding a duck.

washington app. another furniture tip over death forces a major retailer to relaunch a recall. ikea is recalling millions of chests and dressers today after the death of an eighth child. son coup consumer reporter is working for you. >> ikea has received 186 report of tip over incidents involving certain pieces of furniture that includes 91 reports of children being injured. the most recent death involves this 2-year-old boy from california. he became trapped beneath a chest that tipped over. let's look at what is being recalled today. certain models of the mound three, four, five and six drawer dresser sold between 2002 and 2016. there's a total of 17.3 million units of furniture includin
