john conyers acknowledges that his office settled a harassment complaint involving a former staffer. but he also strongly denies the allegations in the complaint in a scandal that is sweeping across public life. today cbs and pbs fired veteran journalist charlie rose after eight accusers went public with harassment allegations against him. >> and this morning his cbs co-anchors were clearly struggling with this news. >> charlie does not get a pass here, doesn't get a pass from anyone in this room. we are all deeply affected. we are all rocked by this. >> let me be very clear. there is no excuse for this alleged behavior. >> blayne alexander is live now on capitol hill with the latest on this fall out. blayne. >> reporter: well, pat, leon, it seems day after day we are seeing more and more allegations. now, this is something that started in hollywood. now it is rocking the political landscape and the media. as you mentioned, including some who had previously reported on this very behavior.

today more big names joining the growing list of those accused of sexually inappropriate behavior. news anchor charlie rose, congressman john conyers, "the new york times" white house reporter glenn thrush now joining senator al franken and senate candidate roy moore. the washington post reporting eight women have accused long-time anchor charlie rose of sexual harassment including nudity, groping and lewd phone calls, both pbs and cbs news have cut ties with rose. he has apologized, but denies that all of the allegations are accurate. >> that is not wrong. >> reporter: his long-time co-anchor visibly upset. >> what do you say when someone that you deeply care about has done something that is so horrible? >> reporter: "the new york times" reporter and msnbc contributor glenn thrush suspended after vox reported inappropriate behavior toward women journalists. and

denying all wrongdoing in sexual harassment claim first published by buzz feed. he said he agreed to settle to avoid a lengthy court battle but die need all guilt. president trump who for days has avoided questions on alabama senate candidate roy moore today saying this. >> he gives a total denial, and i do have to say 40 years is a long time. he's run eight races and this has never come up. >> reporter: the president says he believes that congress had should release the names of all members who have settled harassment claims. and one democratic lawmaker says that over the past ten to 15 years the house has paid millions of taxpayer dollars to settle those harassment claims. pat, leon, back to you. >> thank you, blayne. >> we are following a developing story in southeast baltimore where a large fire broke out this afternoon in a vacant warehouse. fire officials say the flames are now under control. no one was injured, but

was added concern because all that thick smoke was billowing towards nearby johns hopkins bay view medical center. hospital officials said the ventilation system was shut down so the smoke couldn't get into the hospital. this afternoon we are hearing for the first time from one of the most seriously wounded victims of the attack on a congressional baseball practice. >> matt micah, he was shot once in the chest and then again in the arm. five months after that shooting he returned to gw hospital today to thank the doctors who helped save his life. >> news4's mark segraves is here now and, mark, he also talked about that day and how he's still recovering. >> yes, it's been a tough recovery for him. matt is a lobbyist who helped coach the republican team the past ten years. he said that day started out just like any other practice. micah said that on that day, as he ran for cover, he was hit twice. the paramedics who were first to get to him told me they didn't think he was going to live.

was conscious and told the paramedics to call his father and his girlfriend, and he gave the paramedic the phone numbers. since then micah has undergone numerous surgeries and continues hours of physical therapy every week. and he says he's back to work. >> feeling good, one day at a time, getting better. i feel better than i feel, i have broken ribs, cracked ribs. i don't have function in my hand but happy to be here. >> reporter: micah told us just before he was shot as he was running off the field for cover, he passed the 10-year-old son of congressman joe barton he threw the child into the dougout. leon, pat? >> he was shot twice. does he remember getting hit the second time? >> he does remember getting hit the second time. he was shot in the chest the first time after he had thrown the boy in the dug out. he what running behind the dug out for cover. at the suv where the two special agents were exchanging gunfire with the

at that point he lay on the ground, covered his head, and he was shot in the arm right where he was covering his head. he believes had he not covered his head with his arm, that bullet would have gone into his head. that's when the female special agent was shot, collapsed on top of him, and then he said he watched as she used her gun as a crush crutch to get back up and reengage the shooter. >> he has a long way to go, but he's an athlete and has a great spir i. he'll make it. >> thank you, mark. news4 is working for you to make sure your thanksgiving travels are smooth sailing. traffic is about to hit its peak. chopper 4 is flying over i-95 just south of the icc where some folks are headed home from work and others home for the holidays. >> meantime on the beltway in prince george's county, drivers are running into some added delays there. crews are making emergency repairs northbound over suitland road between branch and pennsylvania avenues. after some damage to the road there. traffic is also building up at the airports.

ones heading in and out of town causing a bit of congestion two days before thanksgiving. >> news4's david culver has been chatting with passengers at reagan national airport and he joins us now live with a look at some changes there at the airport. david? >> reporter: hey there, leon and pat. yeah, i have been chatting with passengers in the midst of what is an exciting time for them and yet a very stressful time for them. so, some of them obviously not willing to talk because they just need to get to their flight and get to their gate as quickly as possible. you know, not a huge rush right now as we look live down here. you can see terminal c as we stretch down, you can see folks getting out of their cars being dropped off headed into the airport. we've seen a steady pace, though, throughout the day today. you kind of think about it, the range of travel now for this holiday has expanded, especially here in the d.c. area. now, throughout the day today we have been connecting with some of the passengers, some of them getting as much together as quickly as possible to try to get through those tsa lines as efficiently as possible. and others just standing by waiting for lo

east of 95. maybe a few flurries in pittsburgh back to the mountains here. that would be it. no significant snow in the forecast. it is a chilly start to tomorrow morning. 8:00 a.m. we're at 47 degrees in washington, 32 in pittsburgh. if you're going south, you have the idea. 58 in raleigh at 8:00 a.m. after 8:00 a.m., we're dry, the sun is out, but the winds pickup tomorrow afternoon. we see temperatures hang out in the upper 40s and low 50s throughout the day tomorrow here in washington. and then we look to thanksgiving on your thursday. 47 for a high, but what's happening during the day on thanksgiving? well, let's start you off at 7:00 a.m. you want to bundle up for those turkey trots. 35 degrees at that point. definitely on the chilly side. once we hit lunch time, 42. it's crisp, sunny, as pat said, we'll take it. on thanksgiving evening, 40 degrees. if you're heading to the redskins game, first lauryn ricketts and carol maloney will be there. you want the layers, the

coat, hat, scarf. temperatures will be in the 30s majority of the game. friday we have black friday. if you're one of the shoppers planning ongoing out early, you definitely want to bundle up with temperatures starting off in the 30s and 40s. and if you have a really good deal and you're going to be waiting in line, it is going to be cold friday morning. but by the afternoon not too bad at 53 degrees. then as we look to saturday when we start to see all the black friday fun, the more serious things like getting the tree or the lights and looking good for that. but again, so important on saturday, it's small business saturday. looking great for that. want a light jacket. my favorite thing, i'll be there on saturday, the penn state and university of maryland game. you'll want the warmer jacket with that game a little bit later in the afternoon. but again, guys, looking good for thanksgiving. i'll have more on what happens after saturday with your ten-day forecast coming up in a little bit. of course much more on what you can expect here if you're staying in our area for the holiday. >> okay, make it good, amelia. >> i'll try. >> we need some good stuff. repeated problems with an item sold at ikea.

working for you consumer alert now. another child death has forced ikea to reannounce a furniture recall. it is the eighth death blamed on a furniture tip over. the consumer product safety commission is warning certain ikea chest and dresser models are unstable and that unless they're anchored to the wall they could be deadly. the recall includes malm, that's malm three, four, five and six-drawer dressers. the furniture was sold between 2002 and 2016. the recall involves more than 17 million pieces of furniture. ikea warns consumers should stop using the product and return it and get a full refund or request a free in-home wall anchoring kit. >> it is a

miracle. >> it still doesn't make sense to me because he couldn't talk and tell me, mom, anything. so, it's just like he just shut off and that's it. >> reporter: his mom hopes by doing this interview she can convince young people to follow their instincts when facing a dangerous situation, to make a better choice. darcy spencer, news4. >> well, if you're hitting the road to get to that thanksgiving dinner, you know what a traffic nightmare the holiday time can be. so, we're working for you with a look at the worst times to hit the road. now, according to aaa, the worst time is actually right now. experts say this afternoon between 4:45 and 6:00 p.m., that is especially congested because holiday travelers are mixing up with the normal commuters. now, overall, tomorrow still expected to be the busiest travel day across the country. you can expect delays any time from mid-morning right until pretty much late in the evening. and if your trip takes

may want to pick another place to have dinner. the biggest bottleneck in virginia is on i-95 south at route 17 at fredericksburg. and in maryland it's the bw parkway north at the intersection of i-195. that's because of all the people heading to bwi marshall airport. now, one of the better times to travel is on thanksgiving day itself. but that's only if you get a very early start. and as far as coming back home, your best bet is to leave early on saturday morning. both saturday and sunday are big return days, but sunday is generally worse than saturday. so, how does the weather factor into your plans? that can also make your travel a lot worse. we're working for you. amelia draper standing by in the storm center. >> i'm going to take you through the morning and midday hours. if you're planning on leaving early you might want to hold off a couple of hours. at 5:00 a.m. we're going to be tracking some showers in our area, especially along and east of 95.

apologized for his behavior but called some of the allegations inaccurate. president trump spoke for the first time about the sex assault allegations against roy moore this afternoon. the president said roy moore has denied all allegations and that, quote, we don't need another liberal democrat in the senate. the president stopped short of directly telling people in alabama to vote for moore. it's the big thanksgiving get away. the airports are actually looking good today. there are a few delays to report, to speak of. tomorrow and sunday are the best and the busiest air travel days of the year. but it's a different story out there on the roads. aaa says right now is a really bad time to leave if you're going to be driving. chopper 4 is flying live over the outer loop. crews are patching up a hole on the suitland road bridge on i-95 north. one lane is closed on the outer loop between allen town road and pennsylvania avenue and that is causing some back ups right now.

of your complaints each year and we're counting them up and this week revealing the top four and tonight we're getting closer to the top complaint coming in now today at number 2. car dealers, consumer reporter susan hogan joins us with what she's hearing. okay, what are you hearing from the viewers? >> we are hearing a lot of issues. and false advertising is one of them. viewers are telling us when they get to the dealer that advertised price they saw suddenly comes with a lot of catches. let's take a look. so, when you see something that says, low, low price, what's missing, well, the car dealer may require a down payment plus hidden fees and the fine print. then there's this. only $99 a month. what's missing in this ad, advertised payments are often temporary and balloon later. >> see that in almost every single ad. so, what do you do if you do get to the dealer and that happens to you? >> if you do, honestly, walk away from that dealer. >> really? >> if they're falsely advertising it and those promises aren't there, walk away. >> probably a sign

begin with anyway. you have a lot of stories on limits, car lemons that is. >> lemon laws vary state by state. for the most part, though, virginia, maryland and d.c.'s lemon laws are pretty similar for one. they only cover new cars. so, new cars are defined as cars under 18,000 miles and under 24 months old. and to qualify as a lemon, your vehicle must have been unsuccessfully repaired more than three times and the problem substantially impairs the use and market value of your car. now, most lemon laws require that the dealer or manufacturer correct the defect for you in 30 days. some states require you write a certified letter to the manufacturer first before that clock starts to tick. >> all right. so, what happens if you got a used vehicle and you have the same issues, same problems? >> exactly. we hear from so many people about that. so, if you purchase a car as-is, it is just that. that's why it is so imperative that you get it checked by a licensedch

because right now it's looking comfortable. it's not too cold. when you take the kids out to get the tree, you don't have to worry about them so much, and it's looking dry. i was worried about a shower yesterday. good news. the headlines, maybe a shower tomorrow morning in washington and areas to the north and west. but in southern maryland, you can count on some rain tomorrow morning. but it's out of here by 8:00 a.m. cold for thanksgiving and overall good travel weather here in the mid-atlantic through the entire holiday weekend. that's through sunday. currently our temperatures are in the 50s and low 60s. take a look here at the radar and tracking this line of rain. it is a little bit of snow mixing in in parts of illinois, indiana, into michigan and into canada. this line is moving toward the east. if you're heading to areas like pittsburgh, meedsville or ear i, some rain and snow mixing in. if you do head to the areas for this time of year, it's not that unusual. no snow, zero snow in our area here. but take a look. 4:00 a.m. on future weather you

kind of parallel to 95 and then areas off to the east. so, these are showers that are out there tomorrow morning. 6:00 a.m. still seeing the showers, but by 8:00, 9:00 a.m. they are out of our area. the sun is coming out. the winds do pickup tomorrow afternoon. and it is pretty nice out there with temperatures in the mid 50s. so, cooler than today. you see all these green lights flashing. that means the weather is having a low impact on your weather. on wednesday it is dry after 8:00 so i wouldn't worry about getting on the roads super early tomorrow. you could be dealing with some weather. hoeding heading to the grocery store? the weather is quiet. couldn't say as much about the grocery store. examine exercise tomorrow is looking crisp out there. here's the storm team4 four day forecast. notice the high temperature of 47 degrees. on friday it is a cold start so if you're heading out to the stores early, you want it get in line to get that deal, you're going to start off at 36. so, you definitely, definitely want to make sure you're bundled up. 53, though, by the afternoon. also want to go back to
