by a vehicle. that vehicle is still wedged underneath that tractor-trailer. right now, a tow truck pulling up alongside to begin the process of dismantling the vehicles. you can see the two left lanes moving. we're awaiting word on the extensive injuries that may be involved with the collision. as you can see that car is deeply wedged underneath that tractor-trailer. you have to imagine we could have critical injuries as a result of this collision. again, traffic light moving at speed in this area as crews rn at this wreck behind me. >> justin finch, news 4. >> that's terrible. justin, thank you. it's 4:32 right now. we'll take a look at the other top stories this morning. we start with the latest on the murder of baltimore police detective sean suiter. he was raised here in d.c.

kevin davis, gave an update on the murder investigation wednesday. suiter was shot with his own gun. davis said there was video from a private camera that shows his partner immediately taking cover and calling for help after the shooting. >> a significant update is that we now know that suiter was a federal witness against other police officers. >> the fbi special agent is charge directly to me. detective sean suiter was not the target of an ongoing criminal investigation. he was, however, scheduled to offer grand jury testimony the day after he was murdered. >> investigators believe suiter's murder was the result of a spontaneous confrontation. the killer is still out there. suiter leaves behind a wife and five children. we're learning more about the u.s. navy plane that

crashed. they were among 11 aboard the greyhound aircraft that crashed on wednesday much the navy says that plane was flying from a marine base in japan from the "uss ronald reagan." the people rescued are said to be in good condition. the japanese defense minister says engine failure may have played a role. >> this morning, a texas congressman is apologizing after a nude picture and sexual text messages from him surfaced on social media. republican congressman joe barton came clean about the messages. he also apologized for not using better judgment. this was a month ago after his intention was announced to run for reelection. he is not resigning says a spokesman. now to the latest in decision 2017. a federal judge has denied a request from democratic voters in fredericksburg to block the certification of the house of delegates ballots. the results would have given republicans

[ bleep ]. >> that wild scene playing out at gaithersburg high school on monday around noon. in the video, you can see a security guard try to break things up here. that guard appears to get knocked down. but montgomery county schools tells us he was not attacked. he actually tripped and fell. the district says six students were involved and all of them will be disciplined. no one was hurt here. the investigation sbo into that brawl continues. only one of nine players who appealed their suspensions for today's turkey bowl in d.c. will actually get to play in the annual championship game. woodson high school players took part in a brawl against eastern high school earlier this month. woodson player posted this video of what he says are dirty plays that led to the fight. d.c. public schools suspended woodson players. with only one suspension overturned, that means 17 will not suit up against belew high school la

a virginia family is remembering the special connection they had with '70s teen heartthrob david cassidy. he died tuesday of organ failure. they believe his music helped them through a difficult time. >> as news 4's chris gordon reports, they called the partridge family star a lifesaver. >> david cassidy's death is a personal loss for kelly hennessey. >> i was really, really sad. i was so upset because he was so kind to me when i met him. he was my teenage heartthrob. >> hennessey believes david cassidy helped save her life. in 2015 she was in a coma after a near fatal car accident with her son carson. at the hospital, her husband greg tried waking her from the coma by singing her favorite song, i think i love you and playing the recorded versio

>> reporter: justin finch on the scene of a major crash on the inner loop before 95. take a look. a tractor-trailer collision with a car wedged underneath. a man believes the tractor-trailer was parked when he saw the car rear end it from behind at a high rate of speed. as you can see, crews are on the ground right now responding to this crash and trying to clear the area. the two left lanes are moving at

this time. we're awaiting word on the extent of injuries. as the witness said, that car took a lot of damage. in his words, it didn't look good. i'm justin finch, back to you in the studio. it's 4:48 now. let's take a look at the top stories this morning. >> some scary moments for travelers in seattle on one of the busiest travel days of the year. a suspicious package forced the closure of a security checkpoint at the seattle airport last night. police closed the checkpoint level near the alaska airlines counter. the bomb squad and several agencies responded. the incident was cleared and checkpoints reopened. attorney general jeff sessions ordered a review of the sei database containing information for use in background checks for prospective gun buyers. they

kell kelley's domestic abuse -- he says it's critically important. >> captured by police. santa clara authorities arrested one suspect in a walmart after he and another inmate fled on foot from a traffic stop. the other inmate sped off in a 1999 green ford explorer. right now, volunteers are getting ready to make this a special thanksgiving for local families in need. >> news 4's megan mcgrath is live at food and friends where they're preparing 3500 thanksgiving meals. megan, good morning. >> reporter: hey, good morning, guys. it's kind of a quiet before the storm. this is the prep area in the kitchen. they have some things out. we're waiting on the volunteers.

in. this is going to be alive with activity as they put together the thanksgiving meals for people battling life-threatening illnesses. if you take a look at the table, this is the feast that's going to be delivered. all of the holiday classics and not just enough for the person, the clients, but enough for them to host a dinner of their own at their home. enough for friends and family here. joining me is executive director craig snyderman. talk a little about that and who is going to be getting these meals. >> 3,500 people living in the district, maryland and virginia are going to receive these meals from 850 volunteers. but in addition to providing this food, we're providing for people in san juan, puerto rico. because we sold 9,000 pies, including those that will be delivered to our clients. 10% of the proceed, $35,000 of the $350,000 will go to buy a

holiday dishes. un andeun and i went to north bethesda. >> rockville. >> we went to help whip up a broccoli and rice casserole. >> my great aunt mimi created this. this is something that my mom makes every thanksgiving. >> what dots this recipe mean to you and what kind of emotions does it elicit? >> oh, my gosh. just the smell and everything. ans you fry the onions up, you think of home and family and everything like that. anyway, you start off with two sticks of margarinmargarine. >> everything bad for you, perfect for thanksgiving. >> fry up your onions here. after they brown a little bit, you add your develop receipt a cheese. after that melts, you pretty much just throw in everything else. chopped broccoli, two cans of cream of mushroom soup and then you put two cups of
