help speed up check-out. >> but if you know them, you know die hard bargain hunters are not going to let that stop them. >> no. >> we saw bustling crowds all day at tyson's corner center in virginia. >> the excitement extends around the beltway to oxon hill. prince george's county bureau chief tracee wilkins is at the outlets. tracee, big crowds out there? >> reporter: well, before you fill up on your thanksgiving left overs or after you fill up, make sure you also fill up your gas tanks if you're coming to the outlet. look at this. this is what happens every once in a while in the parking lot. a bit of a traffic jamb as they try to get everybody in here. all the way around the outlets. i tell you, looking at the shopping tcenter, everyone said all of this is worth it to get in there. >> come on, i love the crowds. let's go. >> reporter: is this christmas shopping or shopping to be shopping? >> it is shopping to be shopping.

and learning more about the family. hey there, derrick. >> reporter: indeed it is a sad story. it's always sad when you look at the aftermath of a fire. you see someone's belongings, charred and strewn on a lawn like that. the fire fighters make sure all the combustibles are out of the house. the sad story behind this family that lost its may trark after another devastating loss and that loss came early this morning. it was just after 3:00 a.m. when fire fighters were called to the 6800 block of wilburn drive in capitol heights. fire was already raging through this home. 80-year-old elaine james was rescued from the flames, but she died a short time later in an area hospital. her adult son who cared for hermanaged to get out on his own, but he was treated for smoke inhalation. neighbors were saddened by the loss and frightened by the circumstances

historically christians have been the more frequent target of islamic extremists. attacks on mosques are rare. they called on egypt's president to offer condolences. and panic on the london underground. shoppers and subway passengers running for cover after hearing what sounded like gunshots. officers intact cal gear quickly descending on a busy oxford circus line today. they weren't taking any chances after receiving emergency calls for shots fired. people ducked into stores, sheltering in place until police gave the all clear. police initially treated this as a terror incident, but in the end did not find any gunshot victims and more importantly no evidence of any gunfire. >> the white house won't get any more information from michael flynn's lawyers about the investigation into russian election interference. the team representing the former national security advisor cut ties with president trump's legal t

in news for your health those over 65, it's best to make sure to get a second flu vaccine. a study out of vanderbilt university found the elderly are especially vulnerable to flu complications. they're also at higher risk for heart attacks and strokes for up to a month after they have that flu vaccination. two flu vaccinations are recommended for people over the age of 65, a high-dose vaccine and another to help the shot work better in older people. there you go. >> needles not so fun. >> i've never gotten a flu vaccine actually. knock on wood. >> you survived so far. >> so far. that's why i don't want to get one. don't listen to me. >> you jinxed yourself. this time next week, folks, watch. >> i know. >> did you find any toys on sale today in the store or online? >> this holiday weekend could make or break businesses that sell toys. consumer reporter susan hogan shows us how some stores are reinventing retail.

notice the difference here. 11 degree temperature difference saturday to sunday. sunday will be a chilly day. kind of like what it was yesterday. winds gusting upwards of 20, 25 miles an hour, wind chill all day sunday. we rebound nicely. back to 55 on monday, 61 on tuesday. you sense a trend here going in the right direction? yeah, 60 degrees on wednesday, late day showers on thursday. that's another storm system that moves in. that does bring in another cool friday, a chilly friday at 49. but we're right back into the 50s next weekend. i do not see any real cold air. and if you look at it, overnight low temperatures, i've only got one day at or around -- maybe saturday or sunday morning both a around that freezing mark. no frigid air. turning the corner to mild weather as we make our way to the first week of december. yeah, that's right, december. >> all that matters is that it's good shopping weather. that's all anybody cares about this time of year. that's all anybody cares about, that and getting good deals on gifts. >> exactly, saving mone

street in old town alexandria. he joins us live. hey there, david. >> reporter: hey, meagan. we love old town, a good spot here. they have more than 50 independently owned shops. so, what better place to catch up with them than checking in ahead of small business saturday, right? you've got, of course, the most of them open on small business saturday. but also on black friday. so they have to work and then they have to prepare for their big sales day. behind me, this is the penny boolgt. we caught up with the owner. her name is amy weatherford. she dreamed of opening this shop a couple of years. this past september she made it a reality. she was able to officially open her doors. this is going to be her first small business saturday. for this first event it's all about getting her name out there. >> we get to cultivate that fan base. people are coming in and seeing us for the first time and appreciating what we have. and then we in turn

new york, some lake effect snow fall, but that's really it. so, travel pretty good especially along the highways. now, how about your saturday outlook? if you're going to be out small business saturday going to be good, you'll need the light jacket, but not bad. if you're going to cut down your tree, pickup your tree, i would go saturday. same thing with holiday lights, if you want to put them up, a great day to put them up. wind picks up on sunday so sunday you can slide this guy over to yellow because it will be a little bit colder and we're dealing with some winds. then penn state taking on maryland here in college park. warmer conditions or rather cooler conditions. make sure you have that warm jacket out there on sunday -- rather saturday evening. 60 tomorrow, 49 on sunday. 55 on monday. going up into the mid 60s or at least low 60s tuesday and wednesday around the d.c. metro area. late day showers on thursday. into early friday, that will give us one more cool day, but all in all temperatures at or above average most of the next ten days. >> i'm good with that.

the homeless veteran with a heart of gold. the gofundme page set up for him now nearly $300,000, and that number still climbing. the stunning outpouring of support comes after bobbitt helped 27-year-old kate mcclure stranded alongside a highway in philadelphia when she ran out of gas. after calling her boyfriend, she noticed a stranger approaching. it was bobbitt, homeless with just 20 bucks in his pocket. he told her to wait in her car and with the last of his money, he bought her a can of gasoline. a a marine corps wanted to be a flight nurse. these pictures show him as a younger manage. but recently he's fallen on hard times. the philadelphia inquirer coat quoted a friend of his, his life took an unfortunate turn because of drugs and money problems. but that friend says bobbitt has a good heart. now,
