>> reporter: they're all state credit carded. finding fraud is just one of the jobs for the christmas antitheft team in fairfax county. >> this is counterfeit money. it looks very good. >> reporter: it feels and looks real to me. i'd fall for it. these are items seized from real cases, now they're used to train police so they know what to look for this holiday season. >> these are just regular household tools, but these can be used to cut off sense sores. >> reporter: the team of police officers is working with the major malls in uniform and in plain clothes. >> we assist the officers that are inside. any thefts that come outside we can go ahead and apprehend them. >> reporter: these are expensive speakers and heads just recovered in a theft investigation. >> this is a booster box. it's just a regular box but it's been lined with aluminum foil. >> reportth

heights home lawrence and elaine james shared for more than 35 years. their adult son lived with them. as the fire raged, 80 elaine james became trapped in an upper floor bedroom. she was rescued but later died. mrs. james' son was treated for smoke inhalation, he was able to escape the burning home but could not get to his mother. >> he was out trying to get people to call 911. >> reporter: a firefighter was also burned. he's recovering at a local burn unit. >> we had a deal with bars on the windows and doors and because of the very heavy fire conditions that are reported, somebody trapped we send firefighters in. >> reporter: investigators say there were no working smoke alarms in the home. the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen. in capital heights, jackie benson, news4. a pedestrian was struck and killed by two vehicles

police are still looking for that second driver. he was trying to cross new hampshire avenue. investigators tell us the second driver may not have realized the victim was hit. the first car did stay on the scene. we talked to the victim's twin but he did not want to go on camera. cameras capture some clear pictures of a would be bank robbers who is also missing from home. gregory walked into the bank of america earlier this month. the 22-year-old handed over a note demanding money. he got away empty handed before police arrived. detectives say the guy's family is concerned about his well fare. if you know where he is, you're asked to call 911. >> there's new fallout tonight for former cbs news charlie rose in the wake of that sexual misconduct allegation against him. arizona state university's walter cronkite

a tragedy at the hands of a church leader. >> tonight a richmond area pastor is accused of killing his wife, his daughter and the daughter's boyfriend. nothing about this case makes sense to the family's neighbors. >> it's just tragic and i'm shocked. i don't know what to say. >> they welcomed us when we were moving in and we went over and had a couple glasses of wine. i just never could in my wildest dreams expect anything like this to happen. >> detectives admit they have a lot of questions too. ashley mondayford explains

>> reporter: christopher gadus is in church of youth ministry but now he's in jail accused of killing two family members an a friend, the victims his wife, her daughter, 30-year-old and candaces boyfriend. the call came in just after 1130 thanksgiving night. squad cars lit up the 14 thou block. the first officers to get there describe what they see. >> one male subject on the ground, two gunshots to the stomach. >> reporter: first responders worked in vain to save his life. inside the home police find mother and daughter. >> we have two females down in the kitchen. >> copy. >> reporter: police say they had all been shot and that christopher pulled the trigger. jeanette worked in accounting. her boss released a statement saying, quote, she was a wonderful employee. she had been with us for over 15 years. very dedicated. i
