thanksgiving. an nbc news analyst explains why every one of us should be concerned about the leadership at a key federal agency. >> i could not imagine the extent of injuries. it was terrible. i did not want to see her. that is not how i wanted to remember last seeing her. #. >> a man shares the pain of losing a friend. good evening, everyone. i'm leon harris. the family of a jorm mother nature student should be getting ready for her graduation but instead, tonight they're planning her funeral. she died days after a car hit her in the district. we spoke with those who knew her best. >> she was weeks away from graduating from george mason university. monday night she got off the metro at the minnesota avenue station, walked across the pedestrian bridge, and was

home when she was struck. she died friday afternoon. p kevin rodriguez is a close friend. >> i don't want to be there for her graduation. she was with a gown and a hat and she was trying those things on. so -- it came out of nowhere. >> she graduated from wilson high school in 2012. she was excited about getting her global affairs degree. friends say she wanted to work for the state department, to travel across the world to help people in the middle east and in asia. rodriguez says she was in the can international film club on campus. >> i could go on with adjectives in the dictionary to describe her. i'm pretty sure all of her friends can second me on that. we feel such a major void.

. new details are surfacing after a hunter shot and killed a woman the day before thanksgiving near buffalo, new york. he shot the woman with a pennsylvania. -- pistol. the gunman could be facing a separate charge because of when he was hunting. >> a friend of her shared this picture with us. another friend says this. >> she was the sweetest, kindest, most caring person i have ever met in my entire life. >> that's her supervisors in the hospital. he worked here for 25 years. go there and you'll notice a bench. >> she came across a person walking outs to their car and they needed to sit down, they couldn't get that far. >> so t

home, got that bench and put it outside the hospital. >> that was the kind of person she was. she saw something needed to do it, she did it. she didn't need to ask. >> the shooter has been identified as 34-year-old thomas jadlowsk inches. we visited yesterday but were told he was not at home. this is a thompson center fire pistol. barrels come up to different sighs up to two feet. she was out walking her dogs at dusk. crime scene tape and information from people close to the family both indicate rose was on her property at the time of the shooting. where was the shooter? he told investigators he found her approximately 200 yards away from where he fired the shot.
