>> first at 4:00 this afternoon, coming out of the shadows, a local woman opens up for the first time about a sex assault at the hands of a massage therapist. she decided to go public after a report from buzzfeed that claimed sexual assault is an epidemic at massage envy stores across the country. mark segraves has her story now first at 4:00. mark? >> reporter: yeah, good evening. epidemic is exactly the word that this woman used to describe what's happening at massage envy stores. she was the victim here at this massage envy in tenleytown who in september stood here on this sidewalk and called police saying she had been sexually assaulted. that's where it started, but it has become now a national story. three more women here in d.c., after seeing our reports, came forward saying the same man had sexually assaulted them while they were getting massages. and now as buzzfeed is reporting, nearly 180 women nationwide in oregon, california, peyl

stories, that they were sexually assaulted while getting a massage at a massage envy location. and in many cases, these women are suing the company because they say the company had knowledge that their employee had assaulted other women and continued to allow him to see clients. and when we asked the victim here in washington, d.c. what she thought about that, here's what she had to say. >> the magnitude of the amount of people who have been affected by this is greater than massage envy realizes or cares. it's frustrating, with the media and that population of this article, that more women will come forward and we're going to learn a lot i think here in the next few months. >> reporter: now, massage envy locations are franchises. we called the franchise owners of the locations here in maryland and d.c. they declined to talk to us today. the national headquarters did

weekend or first weekend of december as well. >> thanks, doug. if the afternoon commute is anything like the morning commute, expect a tough one on the red line. take a look at this. this is the line for the shuttle bus at silver spring this morning. those are not happy people. and we talked a lot to them, caught off guard by a big closure that is going to last for the next few weeks on the red line. trains will not be running between silver spring and fort totten. crews will be making major track repairs and upgrades. all that work is expected to be finished by december 10. >> in northern virginia, a neighborhood is rocked and saddened by a family tragedy. a couple and their daughter were found dead over the weekend in a home on waterford drive, an apparent double murder suicide. residents told news4's darcy spencer no one saw this coming. >> reporter: this piece of yellow police tape is really the only sign anything happened here. it is tied to a tree here at the

this is the house where that tragedy unfolded. we spoke to a number of neighbors here today and they all tell us there was no sign of trouble here. the spotsylvania county sheriff's office was called to the home here on waterford drive at 3:30 for a welfare check. they found the husband and wife and disabled daughter dead from gunshot wounds. it's being investigated as a murder suicide. a neighbor had called police because the family dog was running loose. the neighbors tell me robert skully walked that dog daily three times a day and would often stop and chat. what are you thinking today? >> i just think a lot of people are walking around with a lot of hurt and pain that you see every day and don't realize how bad it is. >> reporter: the medical examiner was expected to perform autopsies this morning. the sheriff's office is expected to relesion additional information at some point later today. in spotsylvania

generally expect warmer temperatures and then back towards the mountains that is going to be one of our coldest zones. i'm starting you off in the d.c. metro zone. this includes bethesda, gaithersburg, bowie, camp springs, alexandria. obviously the district, fairfax as well as burke. and in this area tomorrow morning it's going to be a cool start. you definitely want the warm jacket. by the afternoon, gorgeous weather if you walk or bike to work, tomorrow coming home is going to be really nice, especially if you can get out just before the sun sets, like doug was saying, about 4:45. as we move to our western zone, this includes frederick, leesburg, percenter ville, manassas, warrenton, culpepper down through orange, this is a temperature you can expect tomorrow morning for the kids at the bus stop. you can see it's a chilly one out there. temperatures just above freezing so you definitely want the warm jacket. but it's a perfect afternoon or evening to get the christmas tree. not just our western zone, but pretty much every zone with that tranquil weather pattern in place. as we head out to the mountains,

time for juan pablo cortez santos for what happened at nasa got a goddard in green built. he pleaded guilty to video voyeurism. he used a camera disguised as a pen to secretly record images beneath the clothing of a colleague without her knowledge. inside an administrative office at nas goddard is where this happened allegedly. mr. cortez santos pleaded guilty this summer. a news4 i-team investigation revealed the sharp spike in recent cases of upskirting including an man using a phone camera to prey on women at d.c. metro stations. as for cortez santos, we asked if he had taken videos in other places of other people. both he and his attorney declined to comment. pat, back to you. >> all right, thank you, scott. and scott mentioned that sharp spike in upskirting cases. to watch his full report head to the nbc washington app and
