north korea's latest missile launch. new video shows the regime announcing it successfully tested a long range missile that has the capability of hitting the united states. it also shows leader kim jong-un signing a document ordering that launch. the pentagon confirms it was likely an icbm. scientists say theoretically the missile could hit our area. it was the first missile launch since september and after it was launched president trump tweeted that it's more important than ever to avoid a government shutdown in order to fund the military. south korea responded to the latest launch by firing a missile of its own. south korea's president said they had anticipated the north's launch. north korea's missile landed close to japan and after

tillerson said diplomatic options for north korea's denuclearization remain viable and open. the u.n. security council is expected to meet later today. more breaking news today out of florida where a possible serial killer may be off the street. this is our first look at the man accused of killing four people in the same neighborhood in tampa. on tuesday police arrested howell donaldson. they had been searching for a suspect since the killings started in early october. last night they got a tip at a fast food restaurant which led them to donaldson. >> we received some information about mr. donaldson having a firearm at the mcdonald's. one of his co-workers approached a police officer. that is what led us to that. >> now police haven't released a lot of information about donaldson. he doesn't appear to have a criminal history e

one co-worker said she always knew something was off about him. >> just like his eyes. when he's working with us, he's a strange dude. he's a different employee. >> the four victims were killed within blocks of one another in a span of about five weeks. we will bring you more updates about donaldson and his arrest as soon as it comes into the newsroom. right now there is relief for tens of thousands of tourists who have been trapped on the resort island of bali since monday. the airport is back open after the erupting volcano forced it to close. it's been closed for three days since the volcano spewed huge plumes of volcanic ash. there's been enough of a shift to get some planes out today. the last major eruption was in 1963. you can see the live pictures there. all of that ash still filling the air. we will stay on top of this story. hopefully this provides a glimmer of

you're watching "news 4 today." safe to say you've probably never seen anything quite like this. a burglar got stuck breaking into someone's home while dressed in a bathrobe and slippers. surveillance video captured the break-in last weekend just north of new york city. after a few minutes he did manage to wiggle his way out of the kitchen window and got into the house. no one was home. police haven't made any arrests. detectives aren't saying what he stole, but chuck i'm more interested to know why he had on that bathrobe and slippers. >> want to be

shooter firing from an apartment balcony is dead. officers and s.w.a.t. members quickly moved in on the shooter. it's unclear whether he was shot by officers or shot himself. certainly this is cell phone video actually capturing the sound of those gunshots. of course, this is eerily similar to the shooting during an outdoor concert last month in las vegas. that shooting left dozens of people dead, but there are no reports of any injuries at this time. the streets were mostly empty at the time that this man was firing. the parents of a man killed in the texas church shooting say the u.s. air force is to blame. a father is talking about it to the "today" show. joe holcomb lost eight family members in the sutherland springs shooting. he said the air force's error allowed this gentleman to kill is

president trump will be traveling to the midwest to push his tax plan. he'll make a speech later today in st. louis. late last night he tweeted calling yesterday's meetings with republican leaders on the tax plan a great day for tax cuts and the republican party. senate republicans will bring their tax plan to a vote this week. it's the last chance for the gop and the president to score a legislative win this year. coming up news 4's tracie potts will say why passing tax cuts still isn't a sure thing. the so-called king of the nba kicked off his throne. today a lot of people will be talking about it. the first for lebron james. he was ejected from a game for the first time ever. >> going to get fouled. he's going to get a penalty and he's out of here! lebron james has just been ejected. >> lebron was kicked out after complaining to a ref about a call.
