we're following a developing story this morning. montgomery county police are investigating how a 17-year-old ended up dead in the woods in bethesda. >> the teen was a student at walt whitman high school in bethesda. justin finch is there for us this morning. justin, what can you tell us? >> reporter: aaron, good morning. death is a tough topic for schools an young people to tackle. whitman high will have psychologists and counselors on hand throughout the day to deal with this sudden loss. we can tell you, it was over the weekend just yesterday that montgomery county police announced they found human remains off the 6500 block of laverock lane in a wooded area. in a statement out yesterday, whitman high's principal announced that it was and a half i had is he per a. a scare for the

cohen was a volunteer firefighter also. he started volunteering at 16 years old. >> he loved his friends. we have a tight group of young people his age that joined at the same time. a generation of milien yells. they loved him and everyone loved him here. now, a spokesperson for the fbi says agent wolff's family released this statement reading in part, "carlos was an amazing father, husband, uncle and brother who made us all very proud. he was help fum and giving, not just to his friends but to strangers too. our hearts are broken." the nam lis afamilies are m the loss of their loved ones. >> would you know how to protect yourself in a situation. adam tuss is live along the roadway to

ways to keep you safe on the side of the road. adam? >> aaron, that's right. piggybacking off this story. such a sad and tragic event. this happens all the time in our region. when you're talking about people. we're next to 270 here. in this particular crash this past week, this happened in the center lane. that makes it tougher if you're trying to go to the shoulder. because the center lane presents a little bit of a tougher situation if you're trying to pull over. but take a look at the crash video again as we start to look at things that could protect -- every situation is different. you have to remember that. in this particular case, this was something where someone was simply trying to help someone else out on the side of the road. that does happen. but there are some things to remember, especially if you are going to find yourself in this situation. let's bring up some important reminders here. it's impossible, really, to establish rigid rules for all situations here. but you should

nearly 17,000 children were treated for window blind injuries from 1990 to 2015. that's just the kids under the age of -- the most common injury is being struck by the blinds. the most dangerous, getting entangled in the cords. doctors are warning us, there is a highest risk group of kids. >> highest risk group between ages 1 and 4. this is when they gain mobility, they're toddlers, they're curious. explore their environment. but they have no idea what's dangerous. >> more than half of the kids died from their injuries. some of them having been left alone for a few minutes at most. one solution, look for the cordless blinds that don't have the string or wire. eun, back to you. >> a very important reminder. thank you. temper tantrums and toddlers. what a lot of parents have dealt with them. some

one of the last things you think about in the busy holiday season. >> it probably would have saved a home in prince george's county. flames ripped through this house in port washington this weekend. a missing brick in the chimney allowed the fire to spread. news 4 spoke with a local chimney company and said a yearly chimney inspection would have likely prevented the fire. >> if you have any type of gaps or cracks in the chimney, the fire could escape and this type of situation could occur. >> the fire caused about 200,000 in damage. later this morning, terry mcauliffe will be at belvidere elementary school. the governor will talk about the teacher shortage and his website says they'll make an education budget announcement. a legal setback for the catholic church's effort to put christmas ads on the side of metrobuss. this is the ad the
