implications way beyond this year. and a 21-year-old with plans to become a cop killed on her way home from work. new details on what happened just 30 minutes earlier. we start tonight on metro's orange line. one person shot on the platform at the minnesota avenue station in northeast. >> metro transit police already have an idea who they're looking for tonight in connection to the shooting. for more on that we go live to muse 4's shomari stone. he is at the scene. what are you hearing, shomari? >> reporter: good evening. right now metro transit police are still processing the scene right now. last we heard they told me they were only 20% done with gathering evidence at the platform behind me at the minnesota avenue station. let's roll some video. police are ooking for these two men. they are persons of interest. a spokesperson believes they got in an argument with the guy

the platform. all of a sudden there were shots that were fired. at 8:30 the two persons of interest took off running. right now trains bypassing minnesota avenue station with single tracking between sheverly and station armory. the man who was shot we're hearing he was shot in the arm, he's conscious, he's breathing, he's going to be okay but this is definitely causing anxious moments for people who have to get on the shuttle bus and have to bypass this station, the minnesota avenue station. now, if you have any information, if you recognize those two men that we showed you, make sure you call metro transit police. live here in southeast d.c. i'm shomari stone, news 4. we're following two other breaking stourz right now starting with copier 4. over a serious crash on the outer loop of the beltway near fedex field. maryland state police say this was a head-on wrong-way crash around 9:30 tonight. one person died,

critically injured. police had to close the outer loop forcing traffic to squeeze by on the shoulder. we're still working to learn how one of those cars ended up going the wrong way. another shooting tonight this one in the city of alexandria near queen street here at north henry street. you can see more than a dozen shell casings marked by orange cones here. we've learned one person is injured. we're told the ujz are not serious. police are looking for two people who ran from this scene. they say one of those people knew the victim. turning to our weather now and a big burst of cold air is headed straight for us. starting tomorrow. >> you're calling tomorrow a weather alert day. what's in store for us? >> it's going to be a huge change. overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning it's not bad at all right now. as a matter of fact, temperatures still on the mild side. take a look at the numbers. all around the mid-atlantic. 41 d.c., 37 richmond, 42. that's one of the warmer spots in hagerstown. that's because we've got cloud cover across the area. that cloud cover coming cousy

years old. she was leaving work around 2:00 a.m. last wednesday when a pickup truck hit her car from behind, forcing it into another car and killing her along route 6 outside la plata. news 4's jackie bensen has new details on what happened just before that crash. >> reporter: co-workers describe taylor halbleib as a lovely young woman who'd caught the eye of many in the short time she worked at zito liquor. the 21-year-old la plata high school graduate, a former varsity soccer player, was working there part-time while taking college courses in criminology. she wanted to become a police officer. but on her way home from work thursday morning her car was struck from behind with great force at a traffic signal on route 6 near cooksey road. the injuries proved fatal. news 4 has learned that the he two men inside the ford f-150

hyundai alant rah shoving it into a minivan are both members of the newburgh volunteer fire department in charles county. moments before she left work at 2:00 a.m. that witness says the men had just purchased a 12-pack of beer and it appeared to him as if the passenger was trying to flirt with her. the fatal crash occurred nearly seven miles from the liquor store on the route to the hughesville home where talar lived with her parents. maryland state police say the pickup was at fault in the crash and that speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors. news 4 has learned investigators have obtained the security camera video from the liquor store in an effort to document what happened in the minutes before the fatal collision. the investigation continues. funeral services are scheduled for wednesday. in la plata, jackie bensen, news 4. police in montgomery county are investigating the tragic death of

school student. navid saferi was a senior at walt whitman high school. he was found dead near the swim club in bethesda but he was last seen saturday night at a party on elgin road akrording to police. officers broke that party up because of noise and suspected underage drinking. when the partygoers dispersed navid's friends offered to call him an uber but he told them he was okay and disappeared on foot. he never made it home. police say there is no evidence of foul play in this death. police say a home in laurel operate two-day businesses, a home daycare and an illegal drug operation. officers say they uncovered nearly $12,000 worth of marijuana inside the home. police tell us they also found almost three grams of cocaine and more than $9,000 in cash. investigators tell us children were not exse

big-time as we make our way through the night. wait until you see these wind chills we have. overnight tonight, temperatures not falling all that much. right now sitting at 41 degrees. winds out of the south at 14 miles per hour. temperaturewise around the rest of the area seeing a 37 winchester, 34 culpepper and 36 in fredericksburg. 43 right now toward the annapolis area. it's cool but our average highs are in the 40s and we're not quite there yet. average lows this time of year 35 degrees. i don't think we'll be there just yet. storm team 4 radar all clear. going to stay that way for the most part. the only exception is going to be back toward the mountains. the mountains have a winter weather advisory. they've got school cancellations tomorrow because of this storm right here. you look at it. not that impressive as far as rain or snow is concerned. but once it hits the mountains it's going to provide some snow to areas like snowshoe, west virginia deep creek lake. the ski resorts for the most part. but for us it's going to bring in some cold, colds air. you can see 6:00 a.m. we've got the cloud cover remaining. the cloud cover getting out here. notice a chance for some showers.

notice the snow as i said back toward the mountains. back toward frost burgh, around garrett county, elkins, west virginia maybe as far east as petersburg, west virginia. that's about it. as it makes its way over the mountains it dries out. what it really does is brings in that cold air. i want to show you the temperatures we're going to be dealing with tomorrow. first off, well, not bad tomorrow morning. a warm coat is needed. not bad by around noon at 48 degrees. but then the winds come, in the temperatures drop 45 degrees. chilly conditions. by 7:00 wind chills 15 to 20 degrees. look at this. watch what happens here. here's 2:00 in the afternoon. wind chill 41 d.c., 37 in leesburg. watch where we go by 7:00. 17 at d.c. 9 in winchester. 11 in frederick. you wake up on your wednesday morning with wind chills in the single digits. we're talking the coldest air of the season so far and that cold air is going to stick around. that's why we're going weather alert day tomorrow.
