jones beat roy moore by 2%. moore was not however only fighting jones, he was also fighting that wave of allegations of sexual misconduct and this morning the republican is not ready to add mate defemi. chris, i thought this was over? >> reporter: yeah, chris, and i think that it's pretty safe to say it is over, although it appears that the republican roy moore does not want to admit that at this point. we understand that there was no concession call to doug jones made last night and moore did make an appearance at his victory party claiming that he is not conceding this race. what they are saying they're asking for is right now there's about a 1.5% margin. doug jones has about a 20,000 vote lead. if the vote

automatic recount. right now roy moore is hoping there are enough essentially military ballots or challenge provisional ballots that people cast at the polls yesterday that would bring him into that .5% margin. secretary of state here says that is very unlikely so it looks like with pretty good confidence that doug jones is the next senator from alabama, a democrat. we heard from both of them last night. roy moore essentially blaming the media for his apparent defeat. >> problem with this campaign is we've been tainted in an unfavorable and unfaithful light. >> at the end of the day this entire race has been about dignity and respect. >> reporter: now the vo

they ran into the mcdonald's looking for help. now police are trying to find whoever is responsible. no one else was hurt and the men are expected to be okay. police think the victims knew the person who shot at them. we're learnings some new details about the hours leading up to a bethesda teenager's tragic death. sources say navide perry was at a party thursday night when police showed up. there's body camera video showing them talking to perry before he went missing. the teenager's father went to the police station to report him missing. montgomery county police did not take the missing person's report until about nine hours later. our news partner wtop reports once police started searching, it was social media that led them to the woods where they found his body. they don't know how he died. they don't suspect foul play. pretty bizarre scene on a road in northern virginia

a naked man on the back of a truck striking it repeatedly. this is on route 28 not far from dulles. drivers stopped to record what was happening. >> get away from him! oh, my god! >> i think she captured it. you can hear one of those drivers yelling when she realizes something is very wrong. a witness tells us the man started to take off his clothes and became violent after being involved in a car crash on sully road. no word on how he got on the back of that truck but eventually he does get off and run off into the woods. police caught him, arrested him and sent him to the hospital. he has not been identified yet. heads up for metro riders. you can expect delays on the red line the rest of this week. metro is replacing an old communication cable and has to reduce the number of trains running between brooklyn, fort to totten and

homes. the fire has spread into santa barbara county causing more evacuations. it is about 25% contained. the wind will pick up and that will cause more flare-ups. today deputy attorney general rob rosen will testify before the house judiciary committee on capitol hill. he's preparing for the panel to discuss special counsel robert mueller's russia investigation. the deputy attorney general told scott mcfarland he is satisfied so far with the special counsel's work on the russia probe. in just a few weeks we'll be celebrating a new year. that means times square is already getting prepped for the ball to drop. last year's number '17 is arriving in new york city. this year's '18 arrives in the city. the seven foot tall numbers will be all set to light up when the clock strikes midnight on december 31

reporter adam tuss and the metro riders who are going to be standing out in the cold a little longer than usual today. >> adam, riders dealing with delays on top of that. not a good morning to be waiting. >> not at all, guys. it's going to be a tough ride out here for a lot of metro riders. this all has to do with a communication cable that has to be fixed along part of the red line. that means train service will be reduced all along the red line today. that will be a tough ride. it will be about every ten minutes for trains instead of every eight minutes along the red line. outdoor station like this, that certainly could be an issue. take a look. this communication cable is something that dates back to the original metro system, 40 years ago. metro has to put a whole service plan in place when it comes to fixing that cable and getting the system ready. what's really going to happen here, there's going to be one train every -- on every track between brooklyn,

fort totten. the red line will run every ten minutes today instead of every eight minutes and then further down the line this is going to mean weekend closures for the -- that section of the red line between blieng, at throok line, fort totten. it will be cold waiting for the red line. beware of that as you are coming out to get ready. >> what is this cable? what does it do? why wasn't it discovered until now? >> reporter: this is a communication cable that basically tells trains where they are on the system. and that's pretty important because you have to have even space in between trains for safety purposes. it's a communication cable. dates back 40 years ago on the metro system. metro says this problem just popped up with it and in an extreme measure of safety here, they have to replace it immediately. it's not s
