they don't suspect foul play. they don't know how he died. deep red alabama went blue for the first time in 25 years, voters in alabama elected a democrat to the u.s. senate. last night doug jones appeared speechless at the magnitude of what his campaign and supporters pulled off. president trump aggressively campaigned for moore in the final weeks of the race. last night he acknowledged jones as the winner. in a tweet he congratulated jones and said write-in votes were a big factor in this race. arizona republican senator jeff lake who donated to jones campaign said decency wins. joe biden said, thank you, alabama. you've elected a man of integrity, grit and character. he will make you prout. moore was not only fighting jones but a wave of

of sexual misconduct. chris pollone is live. good morning. >> reporter: yeah, good morning, aaron and eun. as you mentioned, republican roy moore has not conceded this race. he did not call doug jones last night to concede either and he is looking towards what his campaign mentioned as military ballots perhaps to trigger an automatic recount. the problem for roy moore is he's down by about 20 or 21,000 votes, a margin of 1.5%. well, in order to kick in an automatic recount in alabama he has to be at 1/2 of 1% even if every military member voted, if they all voted for him it wouldn't put moore in the automatic recount range. it is a long shot and it does appear doug jones is the winner. roy moore and doug jonesth

are still battling the massive thomas fire in california. the images are still so stunning. destroyed 236,000 acres along with hundreds of homes. the fire is about 25% contained but winds are expected to pick up again and that could cause flare-ups. 6:32 now. developing this morning, chaos outside and inside a local fast food restaurant shook up some customers. this happened just as shots rang out. >> news 4's justin finch is live with an update on two men who were injured and what's next. justin? >> reporter: eun, good morning. detectives will speak with those two menace their conditions improve, but meantime police say they're just grateful that more people were not hurt. think about when this happened. 6:00 p.m. on a tuesday or so. there are people inside that mcdonald's when a bullet came by and cracked that lower window pane there. and then those two men ran inside shot and asking for help. now they were taken to a

15 before the hour. we begin in alabama which was deep red is now blue for the first time in 25 years voters there elected a democrat to the u.s. senate. >> nbc's gabe gutierrez is live with more on doug jones's stunning upset over roy moore. gabe, good morning. >> reporter: aaron and eun, good morning. an incredible political upset. stunning come from behind apparent victory for democrat doug jones who pulled it off against this very challenging campaign against thrive val roy moore. this was a race that has been doi dogged by sexual allegations which moore repeatedly denied. last night there was a massive turnout for democrat doug jones. now jones thanked his supporters and as well this morning donald trump as well. he is saying that the deck was stacked against roy moore. this is being seen as an embarrassment for trump of sorts. during the primary h

the problem, guys, has to do with a communication cable that was discovered to be faulty. this was between brooklan, fort totten and tacoma. it pinpoints the location of trains on the system. you can understand why metro would want to fix that faulty cable as fast as possible. what does it mean for you? it means that there are going to be fewer trains specifically in that section, between brooklan, tacoma and fort totten. along the entire length of the red line it means trains will only run every 10 minutes as compared to every eight minutes. it means there will be a weekend shutdown this weekend to go and fix those issues. some riders we talked to this morning, yeah, a little bit upset and frustrated that they're going to have to wait. >> i hope it's not going to affect me so much earlier in the morning because the trains aren't as full, but i think later in the day the train's going to be very, very full go
