a little bit cold out there, chuck bell. snow in the future possibly? >> we could track a little chance for snow between noon and 6:00 p.m. don't start picking out snowman names at this point. it's premature for that. we are tracking a chance for a couple of snowflakes to come our way. as of now, it is a cold start to the day. dry for now as well. not much of a wind out there early this morning. but what little breeze there is has shaved a couple of degrees off the temperatures. so the feels-like factors are mostly in the low to mid 20s. a cold start to the morning. we are watching a little clipper. moisture starved to say the very least. it will bring a chance for snow here. half an inch to maybe an inch. the timing of it, noon to 6:00 p.m. it's a lot more forward in the day. the best chance from the

corridor to the eastern bay. nothing towards the shenandoah valley or across much of northern virginia. we'll kuip posted on that. here's the way the day is looking. the little snow chance during the middle of the afternoon. we'll show you that on future weather in a few minutes. back over to news. chuck bell, thank you very much. we are following a developing story in charles county. authorities are searching for a gunman in waldorf. a man was killed on holly avenue last night. chopper 4 was over the scene as investigators collected evidence. deputies say the gunman took off in a dark-colored sedan. this right here, this will take time to repair. take a look at the damage after a car crashed into the d.c. warner theater. d.c. police say the department of public works van that was parked in front of the theater rolled and crashed into the stairs. one woman was hurt. she is expected to be okay.

a heartbreaking story continues as we continue to cover the southern california wildfires. they continue to rage out of control. san diego firefighter killed trying to fight the thomas fire, he was carried off to the coroner's office yesterday. engineer cory iverson's body as you see there, as i mentioned, he was taken to the coroner's office and the streets in san diego were lined with firefighters. they lined the freeways and overpasses and stood on top of vehicles to salute him as you see there. those who knew iverson say they are devastated. >> this is a tragic event. it's a reminder of the inherent dangers we face in california with wildfires. the risk that we take in the fire service. >> iverson leaves behind a pregnant wife and a 2-year-old daughter. he was just 32 years old. new and disturbing details about the d.c. school aide

23-year-old krishna garrett worked at the school. she posted a video on snapchat. it shows aides trying to change the diaper of a 13-year-old girl with multiple disabilities and the cognitive level of an 11-month-old. she made the video to document her stressful day and titled it, want to go home. she told police she felt remorse after watching the video later that day. today, the d.c. council is hosting a public hearing on the graduation scandal ahtyt ballou high school. it revealed dozens of students graduated from high school last year in southeast even though they had high rates of unexcused absences.

building at 10:00 a.m. mayor muriel bowser has also launched an investigation into the allegations. developing this morning, the gop is scrambling to get its tax plan passed. the president wants to sign the bill by christmas. republicans may not have the votes. florida senator marco rubio is threatening to vote no unless he gives american families a bigger child tax credit. utah senator mike lee is undecided and tennessee senator bob corker says he doesn't like it. republicans are also concerned about mississippi senator cochran who missed votes this week for health reasons and of course, arizona senator john mccain could also miss the vote since he's still in the hospital. republicans can only afford to lose two votes. the latest member to exit the trump administration isn't going quietly. omarosa manigault newman s

i. there are new sexual misconduct allegations against actor dustin hoffman and one involves a minor. three women talked to variety magazine. one says the two-time oscar winner exposed himself to her in 1980, when she was 16 years old. two others say hoffman sexually assaulted them while they were working on a movie in the 1980s. nbc news has not independently con fifrfirmed the claims and hoffman's lawyer denied the

the i-team continues to get results. week before the legislature convenes for the 2018, a key committee formally approved plans for new legislation to better protect children. our slipping through the cracks investigation earlier this year reveals virginia's current laws could leave children vulnerable to predators working inside their schools. scott macfarlane explains how key members of the legislature are proposing changes. >> reporter: this summer the news 4 i-team revealed child protective services found an elementary school teacher engaged in sex abuse against a third grade girl. the teacher always denied the

his name on a child abuse registry and he lost. the i-team found during the appeal over a span of nearly two years, the man managed to find a new teaching job in prince george's county. virginia law allows teachers to keep their licenses and their names off the state child abuse registry and keep teaching during their appeal. >> all in favor, say aye? >> arlington county senator who chairs the commission on youth says that loophole in law puts kids at risk. >> it was important that you all got on this and exposed it and enabled lawmakers to actually look at this issue and take some corrective action. >> the commission just formally voted to recommend new law when the legislature reconvenes in january to reduce the length of those appeals to 90 days to, among other things, prevent people found to have engaged in child abuse from stringing out their appeals and potentially finding new work in other schools. >> this is about the safety of our children. we want the best enro
