on the right shoulder right now. we do have some closures there because of that crash and a tow truck getting things out of the way. inner loop and outer loop of the beltway, no problems there. when we take a look at 270 from 70 down to the spur, going to take you 26 minutes. on time there as you head southbound. as you head out of town up to 70, sometimes this morning, looking good here. right now, at 66 and 95, no major complaints. guys? >> thank you, melissa. it is 5:02, we're following a developing story in charles county this morning. sheriffs deputies are searching for a gunman at a shooting in waldorf. a man was killed at holly avenue at spruce street last night. >> chopper 4 was over the scene as they collected evidence. the gunman took off in a dark-colored sedan. take a look at this scene at 5:02. this will take some time to repair. look at the damage. a car caused this outside a d.c. warner thear.

van parked in front of the theater rolled and crashed into the stairs. one woman was hurt but is expected to be okay. heartbreak in southern california where wildfires continue to rage out of control. these flames are just incredible to see. 32-year-old cory iverson was killed while fighting one of the largest fires recorded in the state. fellow firefighters lined an overpass as his body was taken to the coroner's office. those who knew him say they're devastated. >> this is a tragic event. it's a reminder of the inherent dangers we face in california with wildfires and the risk we take in the fire service. >> iverson leaves behind his pregnant wife and a 2-year-old daughter. new details about that d.c. school aide charged with voyeurism. the 23-year-old worked at the st. collet a charter school. court documents say a video was posted

diaper of a 13-year-old girl who has multiple disabilities and the cognitive ability much an 11-month-old. she made the video to document her stressful day and she told police she felt remorse after watching the video later that day. the graduation scandal that rocked a d.c. high school will be discussed today. >> an investigation revealed dozens of students graduated last june when they shouldn't have. aimee cho tells us how educators and district officials plan to prevent this from happening again. this is a big issue. >> reporter: a lot of things to tackle. it made headlines last spring, getting every senior into ch college for the first time in history. but some say many students shouldn't have graduated at all. many missed three months of classes. didn't perform community

that investigation found only about a third of them actually deserved to graduate. for comparison in the previous two years, only half of the seniors graduated ballou. another teacher said they felt pressure from the school system to pass the students along and graduate them anyway. one teacher says a school official asked her to change a student's grade from an f to a d so he could pass. we've seen a great deal of fallout from this. the principal will be assigned. mayor muriel bowser calling for an investigation. yesterday the naacp put out a statement saying that the problems aren't just limited to ballou. they claim it's the same situation at many schools. they say it's not fair to target ballou in this investigation. after the hearing, they looked into parents, students and teachers to get a better sense of what happened at the school. we can stay here and continue to monitor the situation. eun, aaron. >> aimee cho for us downtown d.c. thanks. >> it's

scrambling to get the tax plan passed. the president wants to sign the bill by christmas. but republicans may not have the votes. >> news 4's meagan fitzgerald is in the newsroom with more on why the tax plan is hanging by a thread at this point. >> aaron and eun. what a difference a day makes. it looks like president trump was on track to make good on his campaign promise to cut taxes and put more money in your pocket. the tax cut plan would be his first legislative win of the year. but that's in real jeopardy this morning. here are the issues. florida senator marco rubio threatened to vote no unless the bill gives american families a bigger tax credit for children. utah senator mike lee is undecided and tennessee senator bob corker doesn't support the plan. they can afford to lose two votes. but they think rubio will come around. >> a

i think senator rubio will be there. >> republicans are concerned about mississippi senator thad cochran who missed votes because of his health and of course, arizona senator john mccain who could also miss votes because he's still in the hospital. eun? >> meagan, thank you. a major shutdown is about to happen on metro's red line in weekend. >> metro needs to replace thousands of feet of cable. megan mcgrath is live with a look at why this defect is similar to the one that caused a deadly crash. megan? >> reporter: good morning, guys. regularly scheduled repair work has been canceled so that this emergency repair work can happen this weekend. that means a shutdown of a portion of the red line between silver spring and rhode island avenue. people want to be aware of that. these stations completely shut down this weekend. they're reporting that the problem found is similar to the isue

crash that killed nine people. metro says that there is a slight chance that a train could electronically disappear from the tracking system that communicates the location of trains. so the decision was made to shut down the stretch of the red line so that the repairs can be made quickly. it involves thousands of feet of cable. now take a look at the stations affected. these are the stations that are going to be closed this weekend. brookland, fort totten and tako takoma. they'll be closed beginning saturday morning and will remain closed through the weekend. the hope is to get the repairs done quickly and can reopen in time for rush hour on monday morning. we'll have to wait and see how it plays out. now in terms of how people can get around, metro will be running shuttle bus bridge service between the affected stations. certainly something people want to keep in mind. back to you. >> megan, thank you. 5:08 now. the latest member to exit the

and the roads will be wet. visibility briefly low once that snow starts falling. temperature as you walk outside, 30 degrees in d.c. 27 manassas. 27 in clinton. 22 in gaithersburg. 25 leesburg. it cold this morning. only in the 30s for a high. today once the snow moves in, it's going to drop the temperatures. we're dry locally. you see snow around the great lakes. that's part of the weather system that will be getting there. again, future weather in a second. it's going to show up out of nowhere. winter weather advisory. you see around the d.c. area and maryland, up towards philadelphia and new york, that's the only area we expect snow. here's future weather. we go towards noon area of snow, once it's closer to the atlantic, it will pull in moisture up to philadelphia and new york. notice how northern virginia gives a low chance much seeing any of this.

thursday. first responders tlaf erers tra as far away as louisiana to pay tribute. sander cohen died last friday along 270. he was helping fbi special agent carlos wolff when both men were hit and killed by another driver. wolff was also laid to rest on thursday in gaithersburg. home for the holidays has a new meaning for one local family. >> tina frost is back home. a lot of people didn't think they'd see this day. october 1st changed her life forever. she was shot during a music festival in las vegas. since then, overcome a lot of obstacles. now we'll have an interview only on our station. talk about tenacity. tina frost is one incredible and determined woman. we spoke with her dad at a fundraiser for her. he called her homecoming a

you'll remember she was shot in the head during the massacre in las vegas in october. she had to have her forehead reconstructed and lost her eye. the fact that she survived is nothing short of a miracle as her dad said. her dad said every day that passes is hard for her. they're taking it one day at a time. >> the bumps in the road, headaches, things like that. she was a little anxious about getting out and she got there. she did her therapy and walked out smiling and happy. so they did a good job today. >> tina frost is at johns hopkins hospital for about two months. she will continue to receive outpatient care. her dad says a full recovery could take up to two years. aaron? >> meagan fitzgerald for us in the newsroom. meagan, thank you. it's 5:49 right now. the d.c.
