with time warner which the president often calls fake news. jim and wendy? >> erika gonzalez, thank you. this bill could have a huge impact on the people in our area. muriel bowser says she's concerned about what it will mean for homeowners. limiting the state and local tax deduction is going to hurt them, she says. they are allowing people to prepay next year's property tax so they'll get the full benefit. the mayor is also concerned about repealing the individual mandate for obamacare. and what it would mean for premiums. over in maryland, governor larry hogan says his administration will mitigate some of the negative impacts and that includes returning additional state revenue received from the loss of federal deductions. and the clock is ticking. congress needs to transition quickly from tax reform and now focus on funding the government. aw

we talked with a former employee who says that is the inside of the shelter. and now we have talked with county officials who have seen it for themselves and they are saying they want it fixed. >> getting sick often. me and my children have a stomach ache and i'm not sure if it's because of the food or mold in there. >> reporter: mold on the walls, broken vents and moldy food. these are just some of the complaints i heard from women living inside prince george's county only shelter for domestic violence shelters. >> the stuff that they are saying is true. the pictures are accurate. >> reporter: family crisis center is the shelter. this woman says she was shocked to hear the executive director of the shelter deny that these pictures came from inside the shelter. >> you know for certain they are inside our facility? >> roo

>> reporter: kiana was fired last month and says she's worried about the women there. >> now they are victims being revictimized in a domestic violence shelter. >> reporter: you would live there? you think the food is fine, room temperature is fine, there isn't a mold issue? that's what you're saying? >> that is what i'm saying. >> i can speak to what i saw and i can't say to you that things are fine. things were not fine. >> reporter: the director of family services says after inspecting the shelter she expects changes immediately. >> the county is working very closely with the crisis family center and toll ensure that all of the things that were noted during my visit are going to be taken care of as soon as possible. >> the county that helped fund this shelter is considered a

shelter. reporting live, tracee wilkins, back to you all in the studio. >> thank you, tracee. the last piece of wreckage from that amtrak train in washington state has been hauled away from the site. federal investigators are hoping it will provide more clues. three people were killed. one question is why was that train going so fast? the recovered black box shows it was going twice the speed limit when it entered that curve. authorities are looking into whether the train's engineer may have been distracted. and they have confirmed that an amtrak conductor in training was with the engineer at the time. the nearby highway that's been closed for two days, that's expected to reopen soon. a man thought he was getting a great deal when he found the

>> it's not the first time they've been homeless for the holidays because of a fire. our chris gordon talked to her. she's live in hillcrest heights. chris? >> reporter: her name is tanya hail and she came here today trying to salvage whatever she could from her burned out apartment. she is homeless, living in a hotel with her family. she has lost almost everything. but she has not lost her faith. >> we've had three fires in a matter of five years. >> reporter: they got out just moments before the apartment building was engulfed in flames. >> i saw smoke everywhere and fire and big flames and stuff. it was scary. >> reporter: for tanya hale, it's history repeating

her house burned down in capital heights. firefighters bring toys for her children at christmas. she moves her family in with her mother and that house burns. then, yesterday, fire leaves them homeless again. >> the first fire, the date was -- >> reporter: december 19th. 2012. >> reporter: and yesterday was? >> december 19th, 2017. >> reporter: and yet you can laugh about it? >> i have to. i cannot get down right now. it's enough in the world and in my life i just lost my job last month. for this to happen now, what am i supposed to do? i can't cry. i have to keep moving. >> if you wonder what they need, they say everything. they feel

so much, they made it out safely and there's their holiday blessing. >> i don't look for the presents. i look just to be with family and friends. being around loved ones. >> reporter: yesterday the american red cross gave them money for food, shelter and clothing. she says she has been homeless before and she is confident that she'll overcome this setback like she has before. >> chris gordon, thank you. also in prince jorngeorge's county, police hope that they can track down a couple of brazen thieves. this is from last friday morning. two armored truck workers putting cash into an atm with people with guns came up to them. one of the thieves appeared to have an assault-style rifle. the thieves forced the workers to the ground and took the cash getting away in a van. officers found the abandoned van just a short time

daca recipients came to capitol hill to implore lawmakers not to leave town without passing the dream act. some held up fists in the air inside the capitol. they want lawmakers to vote no on a bill if it does not include protections for them. billion a dozen santas and grinches showed up at a walmart. they were not there to get presents. the santas actually brought a lump of coal with them. >> reporter: okay. it wasn't an actual lump of coal. it was a petition for how it pays its employees during the

wreaths on the grounds of these fallen men and women. what a gift. to be there to create an act of remembrance. standing above ground and looking out at the acres of lost lives was an amazing gift. to witness strangers engage in fellowship, compassion, gratitude, brotherhood and friendship. it was the most moving holiday display. and at every grave we were told to say the person's name, a ritual that aims to keep them alive with this simple vocalization, someone saying their names. beautiful. and we should say their names. because of those people buried in arlington, we have never had war come to our soil because they rest in peace, we live in peace. what a gift. in this season of darkness and light, we speak of peace

fan. carol maloney has more. >> after signing it, i felt like i wanted to do more for him. >> reporter: it started with this, a post on social media. in less than 24 hours after connecting with isaiah shorter, spate went all the way to his home in pennsylvania to visit him in person, developing a heartwarming friendship that caught the attention of his teammates, including ryan kerrigan. >> the plan was to hang out but we sat there for four or five hours just cracking jokes, hanging around with his brothers and sisters, asking me questions about, you know, what i had to do to get to the nfl, what it's like, what kind of car i drive and that kind of thing. it was an amazing experience. he's a great kid and has a great support system in his

weather for tomorrow, here's the forecast highs in the mid-atlantic. richmond, 50. ocean city, 43. 42 up in philadelphia. low 40s in pittsburgh. plenty of sunshine but still on the cool side tomorrow. make sure you have the sunglasses if you're traveling locally tomorrow. it's going to be the biggest concern. if you're traveling nationally, the biggest concern is if you're flying into denver or have a y layover. snow showers up through the great lakes as well and for the most part we're looking at quiet weather. warm weather in kansas city, little rock, dallas, cool in the northeast. traveling for the most part tomorrow, overall it's looking fine locally as we look to friday we keep it dry here. friday night, maybe some rain moves in and we deal with wet roads but it's really saturday where we deal with wet roads. i'll show you the latest timing. starting off at 7:00 a.m., rain

if you're heading up to pittsburgh, it's going to be a wet ride up that way. back into west virginia, even parts of far western maryland. as we move towards the lunchtime hour here with future weather, still tracking rain in p.a. snow is mixing in even around areas around pittsburgh. we're still dry in washington. 55 degrees at that point. but d.c. starts to see rain during the afternoon and evening hours and notice up in pittsburgh, philly, new york, boston, still dealing with rain. as we move towards the late evening hours, 9:00 p.m., doug, the radar starts to pull out and then temperatures cool. 60 on saturday and then much cooler for the rest of the holiday weekend. >> that's right. our temperatures down tomorrow to 46 and then right back up. 54 on friday. 62 is what we're going for on saturday with a chance of rain. breezy, too. and then it starts to cool. christm christmas eve, 48. look what happens on christmas day. we're going 39 but it may start
