on a friday afternoon and working for you. of course, this holiday weekend is getting started. the all important weather forecast. storm team 4 meteorologist sheena parveen is here. sheena, bring us some good news in your forecast. >> we have good news fort travelers today. even though you'll see the clouds around, we're not looking at any rain. not until later tonight. that will be nice for your friday commute. here's a look at the temperatures, though. still pretty cold out this morning. no the 30s. not as cold as yesterday morning. cold enough for that warm coat. washington 30. manassas 36. 37 in leesburg. as you wake up and walk outside, you'll notice the clouds around but we stay dry. 40 degrees by 9:00 a.m. we're watching snow in new england. if you're headed in that direction today, you may be seeing travel issues closer to boston. otherwise, we had rain developing around texas towards tennessee and that will bring us rain. as we go into tonight and for part of your weekend, i'll show you theim

rain and christmas day, that's all coming up. sheena, thank you so much. we're following breaking news out of south korea. 29 people are dead after the deadliest fire in that country in almost a decade. a witness shot this cell phone video of flames shooting out of a building early this morning. hundreds of firefighters rushed to the 8-story building to rescue people. some people escaped by jumping from balconies on to inflatable mats below. the olympic torch was set to pass through the city today. that was canceled in the wake of the fire. we're getting new video of devastating house fires just days before christmas. chopper 4 was over the site of this fire in springfield. part of the home literally collapsed. you can see dozens of firefighters responded to the scene to put the flames out. still haven't gotten word on how it started.

back of the house. soon after chopper 4 was flying to this knaus germantown. >> this fire broke out in a house that didn't have fire hydrant access. when they arrived, the flames were coming out of the roof. take a look at these pictures from montgomery county fire. you can see that home is destroyed. no one was home when the fire started. >> it may be the most wonderful time of the year, but one thing that isn't so wonderful is city and holiday traffic. let's take a look at what's happening. >> it's still early. doesn't look like traffic is picking up yet. that doesn't mean it hasn't started. take a look at this video from last night, folks. you can see the gridlock. traffic moving slowly there on i-95 north in beltville. heavy traffic expected all weekend. head over to the nbc

yesterday. his family thinks he may have died from a heart attack but are waiting for official word. a car, jewels, even a signed kevin durant basketball jersey, that's some of the items that were snatched from a home in d.c. >> as jackie bensen discovered, the suspect should have been in jail when the burglary occurred. >> d.c. police are looking for darren moore, known as be-- a l list of luxury items were taken. court records obtained by nbc4 show both men are no strangers to the court system. in may of 2016 in prince george's county and just one year before the d.c. break-in, english was sentenced on charges of burglary, theft and identity fraud. he was ordered

to use drugs. it's said to be deliberate but no connections to terrorism so far. a warning from the park police. they're searching for a man who claims to be a psychic. but he's really more than a scam artist using the lottery to take your money. this surveillance video shows the suspect walking into a 7-eleven. in october, he went there with a victim promising her a big powerball lottery win. he later told her the ticket won and she owed him money to claim it. she wired him thousands of dollars. police say the man claims to be psychic and meets his victims through his facebook page using the name angel food olivier owe. >> this story surprised me. if you get cards, some scammers are draining the cards before they're used. they can actually steal the value from the

off. sheena parveen is here. she's going to fill us in on the weekend travel forecast. >> you know what, it looks good regardless of all the clouds you see today. it looks good for travel. we're still going to be dry. temperaturewise, could get away with a warm coat. a lot of spots not as cold as yesterday. yesterday we had 20s on the map. 39 in washington. in our suburbs, the mid-30s. as the kids step out at the bus stop this morning, clouds will be around, you'll notice that when the sun comes up. a warm coat to start your day, a warm hat. by the afternoon, comfortable. temperatures in the mid-50s by 3:00 p.m. here is much of the northeast, part of the mid-atlantic states. snow is moving into new england. i think boston may be having issues today with travel delays if you're headed in that direction. we'll keep an eye on it for you. we'll look at a closer look at what we expect locally and into the weekend. let's check the traffic on this finally friday with dave dildine. good morning. >> od

pass through this city today. but it was canceled. >> we're getting new video. two devastating house fires. this fire in springfield last night, it was so intense that part of the home collapsed. you can see dozens of firefighters responded to the scene, quickly put it out. no word on how it started. but most of that smoke seemed to be coming from the back of the house. we're working to learn if anyone was inside when it started. soon after chopper 4 was flying over this fire in germantown. >> it broke out on a section of brink road that didn't have fire hydrant access. when the firefighters arrived, the flames coming out of the roof, take a look at this, you can see that home. no one was home when the fire started. it's that time of year. we look forward to visiting family and friends through the holiday. we don't appreciate the holiday traffic on the roads. news 4's megan mgr

>> she's out at reagan national airport right now. somehow it looking out there this morning, megan? >> reporter: actually, it looks pretty good. you can see behind me here, it's early. only about 4:30 in the morning here. but you can see there are people lining up at the particular counter. american airlines very alive with activity this morning. a lot of their staff here directing people where to go to make sure everybody gets to their flights on time. a lot of folks, the strategy is to leave early, to beat the brunt of the rush today. it will be coming later on this afternoon. they're hoping to get out and miss all of that. take a look at the flight aware delay map here. you can get an idea for some of the delays around the country. only about 70 at this point. so while those folks won't be happy, it's not widespread, at least not at this point. that's good news for folks headed out. airlines have added about 90,000 seats to
