darcy. >> reporter: erika, fairfax county police cleared the scene of the crime within the last hour and all day friends and neighbors are dropping off flowers in memory of the victims. let's show you video of the friends and neighbors that came out for a quiet vigil, just as police announced they had petitions to charge a 17-year-old for the murder of the frickers. the teen is known to the family. he's in the hospital right now with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. police say he came into the house and was confronted by the couple and that is when he shot them. now the mother of the wife told news 4 that the mom was very concerned about her daughter's boyfriend who apparently had an ardent interest in nazism. let's hear from the vigil. >> they seemed like people you would like to know better.

and they are just gone. we all really feel a big loss. they were very new part of this community. but we all really started to like them very much. >> reporter: so far fairfax county police have not identified the teenager. he is 17 years old. no word yet on when le actually face those murder charges. back to you. >> darcy spencer, thank you. wire -- we're working to learn more about the shooting of a girl in prince george's county on the 15,000 block of st. phillips late last night. that is the southeastern part of county. waiting for police to release the age and identity. no word on the circumstances surrounding her death. a large police presence in southeast d.c. today. police say a man is fighting to survive after being shot. they blocked off a large section of melon street for the

don't know the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but police tell us the suspect was driving a silver or gray nissan. flames tore through a house in southeast d.c. early this morning and then spread to other homes. cell phone video captures just how dangerous the situation was. but as we see, everybody was able to make it out safely. >> oh, my god, i just hope they get out of the house. look at -- oh, my goodness. >> reporter: joy jones was amazed at how intense the flames were. they lit up the predawn sky. >> i saw the fire people getting out of the houses and i was like i hope they got out. >> reporter: ten people displaced among the three houses involved in the two-alarm fire on 21st street southeast as daylight revealed the extent of the damage it was miraculous no one was injured. the corner house burned so intensely that the heat melted the siding on the an adjacent house and that townhouse was destroyed.

fairfax county police say they stole a car on stanhope flas and they may have gone into people's homes to get the keys to the vehicles. we are tracking a developing story now involving the top leadership at the miss america organization, ceo sam haskell, the organization president and chairman all resigned today. this follows a huge outcry after the huffington post ahold of an e-mail exchange between the leaders. they allegedly mock the sex life and weight of 2013 winner mallory hagen. hasket said he made a mistake of words. the outing president apologized to her and nbc news has not vir fied the e-mails. a mult billion dollars digital media and broadcasting company is saying sorry after an explosive report revealed disturbing accusations, three vice media employees as reported by the new york times received settlements

harassm allegations. one was against the company president. the company's co-founders released a statement saying, quote, we have failed as a company to create a safe and inclusive workplace where everyone, especially women, can feel respected and thrive. the founders say they are taking steps to address the problems. you only have tonight and tomorrow to get those last minute gives to put under the tree by monday morning. and if you still have some shopping to do, you're not alone. the national retail federation predicts about 126 million people still have some shopping to do. the last weekend before christmas is critical for retailers. experts are optimistic that this final rush will be a big boost for retailers. >> today and tomorrow are key times for the holiday season. and typically 40% of holiday sales occurs between december 15th and 25th.

a local organization is spreading holiday cheer by providing thousands of gifts to deserving children in the community. the group firefighters and friends invited people to samuel tucky elementy in alexandria for a fun filled afternoon. kids got to meet saint nick. mickey and mini mouse made an appearance. took pictures with the kids there. organizers expect today's event to benefit up to a thousand children. >> well you know a lot of families are having tough times so we don't want them choosing between paying a bill, buying groceries, or deciding if they need to buy a toy for
