a home this morning. take a look at the intense flames coming from that building last night. this is around 9:15 in the alexandria section of the county. it was filled with antiques from more than 30 dealers. we know part of the building collapsed in the fire last night. fire crews were able to get out before that happened. >> no one is injured so far. just cold. but working hard. being aggressive about putting this fire out tonight. the building was closed for christmas yesterday. investigators still have to figure out what may have started it. fire crews have not been able to say whether foul play was involved at this point. >> two loudoun county sheriffs were shot. their go fund me page nearly reached its goal. donated $10,000 in one day. the man is being held without bound. douglas johnson jr.

deputies responded to a domestic call in sterling. when they arrived to arrest them, ep pulled a gun and started shooting. both deputies are expected to be okay. if you live in montgomery county, you may be able to prepay your 2018 property taxes before the new tax measures take effect. there will be a special meeting to talk about the plan today. last week they said they wouldn't rush a bill through to change it. fairfax, a lot of jurisdictions allow homeowners to pre bay taxes. americans will start returning the perfectly unwanted christmas gifts. the national retail federation say stores expect an average of 13% fort holiday sales to be returned. sadly, there will be grinches among those returns. about 11% will be fraudulent. the numbersou

catholics from around our area celebrated a christmas mass at the basilica of the national shrine of the immaculate conception. they prepare the annual dinner for hundreds of people, the poor, homeless, needy in our community. one woman told news 4 she's grateful to have someplace special to spend christmas. >> i'm 92 1/2. i have absolutely no family and no relatives. i'm very, very grateful to have someplace to go. >> there are a lot of people just like mary lou in the district, maryland and virginia. of course, not very many of them live quite so good at the age of 92. the cardinal delivered one simple message to those who attended mass. each one of us is capable of changing the world. inspiring message to

mid-20s. windchills down closer to 18 to 20 degrees. layer up this morning. the jet stream pattern, though, not tapping any gulf moisture. it will be a mostly cloudy day today. i couldn't rule out a passing snow flurry or snow shower. there's a ripple of snowflakes moving towards fredericksburg and stafford. this is not getting any accumulating snow but the ground is cold enough where it may briefly whiten the ground. here's future weather to help plan it out. a cloudy start today. we get back to breaks of sunshine towards the late morning into the early parts of the afternoon. by about 6:00 or 7:00, clouds thicken once again. there could be a stray snow flurry or snow shower late tonight. higher chances for that to happen over the mountains of west virginia and a cloudy overnight with a flurry or two possible. later on in the day, we get back to sunshine. temperaturewise, not going to be warm any time soon. we're in the upper 20

>> that's because they both chose to have their stomachs removed after testing positive for the cdh 1 gene. they have a greater risk of getting stomach or gastric cancer. it can be hard to treat. >> if you carry this particular gene, your risk for stomach cancer is 60 to 70%. >> dr. jeremy davis is heading up a clinical trial at the national institutes of health studying the effects of stomach removal for patients with an inherited risk of stomach cancer. >> david happened to inherit the gene mutation and patients like david are uncommon but they're at great he risk for stomach cancer. >> david foeg i will lives in silver spring with his wife and two young sons. when he tested positive for the gene at age 40, he knew he had to do something. he had watched his beloved aunt die from stomach cancer. >> going through thatit
