temperatures and came across some drivers filling up before the potential snow hit overnight in dc. the crews pretreated roads with salt brine and juice to help roads stay above freezing and crews will send out more than 200 trucks to treat primary and secondary roads and residential neighborhoods 2:00 saturday morning. we talked to a mother and daughter moments ago about the snow. >> i don't mind snow as long as we can get out. i just don't like ice. >> it's a great driver. i just worry about the ice. >> reporter: crews in maryland and dc and virginia will be out. if you come across these trucks, stay out of the way. treat with rock salt or kitty litter in some cases. the last thing you want to do is be in home at bed after falli

live here in northern virginia, i'm shomari stone. >> now you can get back in the truck and warm up. we'll talk to you soon. other parts of the country getting slammed with the snow. some complain about the coel and we don't have any but they've got a lot more snow to them than we see here overnight. parts of eastern iowa declare a snow emergency that lasts until tomorrow and expecting wind chills as low as 35 degrees below zero and meanwhile in michigan, a massive 40 car pile-up on highway 31 just off of lake michigan in the western part of the state. one car spun out this afternoon and that caused the chain reaction. luckily, only minor injuries involved in that situation. and yes, it is snowing once again in erie, pennsylvania. the city expecting at least another foot of lake-effect snow this weekend. they've already been hit with more than 100 inches of snow in the month of december. so they've got a tough road ahead of

now, breaking news here. prince william county. police say that one of their officers had to be taken to the hospital tonight after getting assaulted by a suspect. this happened in the corner of princess ann lane and west longview drive. at last check, police still searching for two suspects. they've got one person in custody and we've checked but police are not saying exactly how fast they were hurt. keep you posted on that as we learn more. fbi agents spent 5.5 hours at a virginia town home today but details about why they're there still sketchy at this hour. field office saying to us that part of court authorized law enforcement activity. from the eastern district of virginia in alexandria. jackie bensen was there and the investigation. >> reporter: the raid on the home on courthouse square in sterling ended with a long line of

stick on area roads. heads up to fredricks county and baltimore could be and right into pennsylvania. so current temperatures, 24 and 21 in gaithersburg. not only cold enough to snow but stick. not above freezing for days here, so once again, anything that falls will fall and stick on even the roadways. especially any untreated roads. here's the radar. and looks like we've got snow here but a lot of this not reaching the ground just yet. another couple of hours to start to see the first flakes hitting the ground. here's the system itself. it's a very broken up system. this is not a strong system at all. as it comes in, it may intensify around our area and parts of the philadelphia and get on out of here but in philly, expecting 1 to 2 inches. here around 2:00 a.m., notice, starting to come into the dc area

you may not see any flakes at all. if you do, be very small coming down and flurries in the area and you can see the darker shades here and it does indicate some possible light to moderate snow in those areas but by 8:00, just about out of here and 9:00 or 10:00, done here and see breaks in the clouds and then we see the back edge of the storm come through and we could see a couple of snow showers with that. one thing we'll see with this for sure is going to be the wind. the winds will kick up tomorrow night and starts the incredibly cold stretch. it's been cold the last few days. it will be colder tomorrow night. here's your snowfall forecast. annapolis, dc, warrenton, less than an inch in these areas and a gusting to an inch. winchester and maybe martinsburg and hagerstown since you're driving up and some of the ski resorts tomorrow, could get fresh snow towards those areas. i want to showyo
