annandale is different. a 94-year-old world war ii veteran died in this one. his wife woke up coughing and couldn't find him. >> i could not save my husband. i don't know where he is. >> lenny used to care for lewis and his first wife hazel before she died. he was well-known for repairing fine glass and porcelain. >> they would go to fine department stores and pick up things. people would bring things to their home. they were very well-known in the annandale community. lewis' wife and another woman living in the home got out safely. smoke alarms save lives. montgomery county fire say a fire inside this potomac home burned for some time before anybody noticed. smoke alarm eventually went off and told the family t

well. he ended the year big on tax reform. the white house says this year the president wants to work on repealing and replacing the affordable care act again, making that attempt. but also welfare reform, infrastructure and immigration. he wants money for the border wall. democrats want to make sure young immigrants brought here legally can stay past march. >> coming into the new year, we know there's changes coming to the senate starting this week that might impact the president's ability to get his agenda passed, right? >> could make the negotiations tougher. some are going to the white house tomorrow to talk about the daca, the protection for young immigrants. there are two democrats, one from minnesota and one from alabama, doug jones, coming into the senate tomorrow. the democrats are still the minority. but their numbers edge up a little bit making things even tougher and the negotiations much narrower for

to death is behind bars now charged with killing her. liz beth mendez was found with stab wounds inside a home on monday morning. she was taken to the hospital where she later died. she was the mother of three children. this attack happened down the street from where brentwood's mayor lives. the mayor says domestic violence is an important issue within the latino community. >> we don't tend to talk about it until it's too late. >> mendez had moved to the u.s. from guatemala. detectives have not released much information about the man they arrested other people were in the home at the time of the stabbing. this morning, we're working to learn more about the man killed monday in prince george's county. the man whose name has not been released was hit by a metro transit canine vehicle. the northbound lanes were closed for hours wh

takoma park gets a new police chief. antonio did he vaul will be sworn in tonight. he grew up in takoma park and has been a lifelong resident of montgomery county. kids could soon be changing schools. the school board is expected to change things to alleviate the overcrowding in the elementary schools. it will likely affect kids at wilson and montclair schools. they will take recommendations at a meeting tomorrow and have a public hearing on the 17th in manassas. if you peeked outside last, the moon, the supermoon appeared bigger and brighter than other full moons. they are full when they're closest to the earth in their orbit there. the next one will be here january 31st if you missed this one. this one is dauld the wolf moon. >> my
