the horrific traffic continued for 12 hours. >> news4 transpoation reporter adam tuss was one of those stuck in that traffic last night. aaron was stuck in it too, adam. e joins us near the wilson bridge. it seemed like everyone had a problem getting home last night, adam. >> reporter: let me tell you, eun, we're going to remembe that commute for a long time now. listen, i'm happily to report that things here on the wilson bridge are running smoothly this morning. a lot of people probably wondering about that. you can take alook. everything is fine here. but look at the video of just how badhings got backed up all throughout the rest of the day yeumerday. it wasr to bumper everywhere. my personal story, i had to go pickomeone up at reagan national airport, and you of the airportt loop itself. i finally had to ditch the car and get on metro because it was so bad and the pick my car up later on in the day. it was horrific everywhere.

a couple of reasons for this, obviously, the wilson bridge incident had a lot to do with things. but then you had people trying to divert through 95 to cut through the city. you had a nats and orioles game last night. it was by the way, raining on top of all of that, so it was really a perfect storm of a classic nightmare last night. this morning, we're moving smoothly. but i do want s to this all points to something a lot larger, i othe event an emergency if we take out one of our bridges like what happened yesterday the needs to be an alternate plan and people need to start looking at how to get around on the road. metro i thought performed excellent yesterday. aaron, i feel your pain, buddy, that was rough. >> six miles to get to the navy yard.
