tonight. straight to storm team meteorologist somara theodore with the current advisories and what people need to watch out we're not in the clear yet. people still under a severe understorm warning. that storm brought a tornado warning earlier. right now the tornado warning is expir expire ed. take a look at the map. the instability is south of the beltway. 's expired for central prince william county. but still in effect for parts of stafford. take a look at the storm. this severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 6:30 p.m. as you can see, lots of lightning, heavy rain, continuing to track to the east at 20 miles per hour. here is an area that's getting slammed, manassas, brentsville, very heavy rain with the deep red color. moving of the east. if you live in clifton, it's

not in the clear quite yet. >> some areas are still under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:30 p.m. a lot of the activity happening south of the way. let's go ahead and show that warning. becausehais where we're -- where we are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:30 p.m. that's northern stafford county there.s leo ahead and zoom in. you can see the line of storms, this is the portion thatemains severe, with those gusting winds, upwards of 60 miles per hour. this is the same srm that moved in from the west, sparking that tornado warningarer in parts of culpeper county. that souther portion of the storm is where we're seeing the strong winds. lightning with this as well, ntinuing to move to the east. take us farther north though, we were just seeing manassas park get slammedyo u're now in the clear. but farther east towards clifton, some rain there. big picture, i've gone ahead and

pushed out theje tory of this storm. it's impacting areas like joplin and triangle until 6:30 p.m. the ent e storm will continue to move to the east. so southern ma rland, geteady. you do have some heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds headed your way within the next hour or so. i will zoom out further to show you, a lot of active weather is south of the district. up toward northern montgomery county into southern frederick we are seeing rain as well. even in the district, some light showers movingro inthe west. futurecast on now, 8:30 p.m., pu can see the storm is continuing toh out through southern maryland. we could see the rain flare up more in northern loudoun county as well as portions of southern frederick. the good news is, as the sun sets, that's when things become tranquil and calm down. a lot of active weather is dying down.
