>> reporter: experts say there are steps that women can take tt reduir alzheimer's risk. first, if you're in perimenopause, talk to your doctor about hormone replacement therapy. >> if you start before us meno estrogen replacement therapy, might also be protective against mentia. >> reporter: second, focus on what you eat. inooer b "brain food," she recommends foods high in ti idants, like chick peas, flaxseco flaxseeds, ts, berries and dark, leafy greens. to protect her brain, karen exercises daily and sticks to a low-sugar, plant-based diet. what advice do you have to women in their 40s who say, i don't have time. i have had the longest good-bye from my mom. seven years. she hasn't been able to know it's my birthday. it's a very unfortunate disease and it robs you of eevery, sin
