new at 6:00, there's scrutiny coming for d.c.'s public schools after an i-team investigation. that investigation revealed one ooof every four of the s district's teachers not licensed. >> scott macfarlane brokeorhat he joins us now with his update. what have you learned? here are the numbers. 4,000 teachers in d.c. public schools, nearly 1,000 are unlicensed. some are new. somere veterans, but they're violating d. regulations by employing them. the d.c. council says they will have issues whehey return from its recess including whether the district has the property requirements. the u.s. education department today confirms to news 4 it too has oversight of the licensng. the spo person has not yet spoken to the school district but says the agency doesn expec an date this year as it does every year, but d.c. regulatory officials about what they're doing to ensu teachers are licensed and that local rulesbe

we are less than a week away from tth start o nhl free agency. the capitals extended an offer to forward tom wilson but not breakout star devonte smith-pelly. the caps did secure their star defenseman last night announcing a deal with johnarlson. fans were chanting rign him at the parade. now caps fans had their prayers answered. the team locking up john clson on an eight year, $64 million deal. carlson is now one of the top coid defenseman in the entire nhl. ng off a great season where he set career highs in goals, sists and points helping to lead the caps to the stanley cup. the defenseman met his wife in the area. theyngre now rai two sons, so coming back to d.c. was a no
