our team of reporters haseen working their sources to get you the very latest information on th tgedy. let's begin with those victims and the suspect and news 4, jim. >> it was a targetedattack. they were journalists just doing their jobs. we have just learn their names. first the gunman reloaded that rifle as he took aim through a glass window. he had mutilat his own finger so he couldn't be identified. we know who he is now. we have learned today a shooting as targeted that ramos had a

history. ramos had sued the capital zette. he claimed defamation after a former staffer wrotebout his guilty plea in a criminal harassment case. a maryland court sided with the newspaper in 2015. now to the victims. we have leaed all five of them did indeed work for the capital gazette that day. we have pictures of four of them on your screen right now. they are rob, a john wendy. the fifth victim is rebecca smith. our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of thosa victim many survivors today as well. we are here on the scen as she has been working her sources talking to law enforcement and witnesses all evening long. what are you learning? >>jim, at that press conference a short time ago the chief did confirm they are looking into

t me show you where we are. this is fourth seet. if we can pan the o camerar this way you can see some of the people outside looking at what is happening. e s.w.a.t. team is here as well. they are just now going inside the building. officers have basically been monitoring the situati outside the apartment building for the last several hours waiting for permission to inside, waiting to be able to execute a searcha wa you're looking at proper video right now. this is right off of fouh street on armstrong court. it is not too far from the laurel police department. this is where we believe that the suspect lived. ias able to show his photo to several people who live here in the area. no one i spoke to said they recognized him. this is the address that he listed in court records.

supposedly lived in this neighborhood. i want today come see what's going o >>nd back out live chopper 4 is over the scene. we have been waiting for thr hours for this to happen while they waited for that searchan wa permission to go inside. again, they will be very careful as they approach going inside this apartment inside this building to make sure i is absolutely safe for these police

officers. >> sounds liks lf red flags here. >> i just got off the phone with editor.mer he told me he and one of his former reporters were the threat and they were afraid of what could happen. so much so they reported the threats to police. he told me that they thought it wa strong enough case. it all started with an article the paper published back in 2011 after the suspect pleaded guilty to a harassment charge. he was angry and sued the prer. the ediays the paper won the case but it dragged on. he and some of his staff were afraid. they never met him in person. they definitely felt threatened and even had a news roomoueeting it. he feels like he did everything he could to prevent something likehis. he still felt sick to his st
