are now clinging to life.c' steve patterson has the latest on this for us. good morning. savannah, police here in boise are calling this one of the most violent attacks in the city's history. is man taking anger out on a room filled with innocent children. a quiet community in boise, idaho, stunned by violence. >> there some child victims. >> nine people wounded in a mass stabbing at a 3-year-old girl's birthday party. six of the victimsng y children. some suffering from life threatening injuries. these boys say the stabbing happened right in front of him. >> we saw him saying bad words and staieing our s. >> stabbing our kids. >> this was an attack against those who are most vulnerable, our children. it's untenae,unconscionable, and it's pure evil in my mind. >> police responded to the

stabbings saturday night atts apartmormally considered a safe haven for those all too familiar with violence. refugees resettled from iraq, syria, and ethiopia. the suspect, 30-year-ol timmy kinner from los angeles, was captured near inscene and charged with nine felony counts of battery and injy to a child. the knife he waw suspected of using recovered in a nearb canal. police say he has an extensive criminal record and was staying with a woman at the complex until being asked to leave friday night. one man said kinner made threats as he left the apartment building. he told the kids, somebody is going to happen here. he said wai and you will see it, and that's what we see. >> the community now reeling. >> i don't trust right now anyone anymore. >> even tef police c could not contain his emotions. >> when you see innocence targeted and the suffering whicu , and when that involves children, it's something that

intention. nobody was harmed in the process, we hope. learning rning, we' more about the gunman who walked into the "capital gazette" newspaper offices late last week killing five eemployees. shooter had a long-held grudge against the paper dating back t a 2011 stalking case. the woman in the case is now speaking out clusively to nbc news. catie beck joins us from annapolisith that story. good morning. >> good morning, willie. this woman says when she first heard about the shooting at the "capital gazette" newspaper, she had an immediate sense of panic. she had a feeling this could be the same man who terrorized her for years. forcing her to move out of state for her own safety. >> i would be afraid that he could show up anywhere at any time and kill me. >> this morning, for the first me, lori is speaking out about her terrifying experience with the ecsud "capital gazette" gunman, jarrod ramos, w she says cyberstalked her for years.

>> months later, after several exchanges, thieds cha dramatically. lori says when she didn't respond to e-mails quickly enough, his became threatening. >> he said f-you, go kill yourself. you're going to need a protective order. >> lori gut police involved but said ramos still wouldn't stop. >> he is very cold. he is very calculated. he's very intelligent. >> ros pleaded guilty to criminally harassing lori in july of 2011. the capital gazette wrote an article about it, afterwards, ramos sued the paper for defamation. his lawsuit was dismissed in 2015. bu he continued torite threatening messages about the on r and its employees social media. lori says she is speaking up now because she wants to empower other stalking victims. >> one thing i do now is he can no longer silence me. >> nbc news has reached out to the attorney now representing ramos, but has not heard back.

enjoy. look who's here, my wife siri daly. the gang is eating,et but start with it. this is an elevated version. >> we're goi to make teriyaki steak skewers, which we have a lot athome. our local market makes them and it's our own version. >>typically, the skewers are the flank steak, whichs the rear part. we're using a tritip. a triangle steak that has grain that goes both ways. it's very clean, but if you cut it off the grain thin, you end up with a blast of favor. >> cutting it properly against the grain is important to get tender meat. why don't you start cutting and i'm going to make a homemadesa teriyakie. if you want to save time, you can find your favorite store bought sauce. there's soy sauce, rice vinegar, some brown sugar, some cornstarch, a little bit of water.

"capitalked into the gazette" and took the lives of five people. authorities suggest it may have been a long-standing grudge with the paper about a story they wrote about him in2011. that's when the shooter pleaded guilty to criminally harassed a woman named laurie, a woman he barely knew. a man she says stalked her for years.
