adrginia. the zoomed around the impressive thunderstorm. much lightning, very heavy rainfall. i would track the storm for you, but here is the thing, it's not moving. it's jus sitting there. we could also seem some flooding issues if this storm continues at the rate it's at. very impressive rainfall rates. that severe thunderstorm warning going until 4:30. a look at 9 wider picture, eas of i-81, it is complete dry out there. think it's going t stay along and west of i-81 today. in the yellow, parts of washington and frederick county down throu parts of loudoun county. only about a 40% chance you're dealing with a shower or understorm mainly before firework time this evening. in the grown, that's moin green sts very low, only 20%. fireworks at the national mall are goinge to just fine. we're also talking about dangerous heat.

alexandria is due to people that neither live nor work in alexandria. >> reporter: waze tells us they n't believe that there is data to tell us it puts excessive traffic on say specric street. foow the hope is that signs and additional enforcemente do ick. it doesn't look like airline passengers are going to get any more seat room anytimeoon. the faa says they're not going to order airlines oh stop shrinking customers' seats. in a new court filing, the government says, yes, it is. the faa says the videos prove the planes can be evacuated quickly, but 70% of americans are overweight. critics say the tests don't reflect modern planes with the cramped seats. >> lives are at stake here. we need to make sure that the faa and the manufacturers are

i was honestly running outside yesterday morning and this morning. this morning, to me, felt a lot worse. n was with friends barbecuing before i came here, and the guys were saying just standing over the grill, absolutely brutal. >> brutal. >> that does turn up the heat. >> yes, it does, just a little bit out there. when you factor in the humidity, this is how hot it's feeling like right now. feeling like temperatures are in the 90s to around 100 degrees. yesterday, though, byhe numbers was the hottest day of the year with the high of 97. a feels like temperature of 110. so today we're feeling a good, you know, 12 degrees cooler. doesn't that just feel amazing? not really. feeling about 98 in washington. i'm keeping a really close eye ontorm team 4 radar, especially for those of you along and west ofi-81. you can see this impressive thunderstorm here. i was tracking theth lightning. is producing over 500 lightning strikes. it has rainfall rates -- already produced rainfall of 1 to 2

inches and showing rainfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour. this has prompted the national weather service to issue flood frederick r parts of and hampshire counties until 8:00 tonight. that's the area here in green. on top of that, a severe thunderstorm warning until 4:30. i'm starting to see it slowly showing signs of raining itself yut. because it's reaot moving at all. it is just sitting there. again, leading to flooding concerns, especially for those of you in hampshire county, west virginia. if you're one of those folks, please reach out to me and let me know what you're seeing. here is the map i made f the storm chances tonight. the red area i'm worried about, the panhandleia of west virg and the areas around west virginia. 50% chance ohuerstorms during firework time. as we head farther off to the east, that chanc drops off here in the yellow. only about a 30 to 40%. as we continue to head farther

once again, we want to take t's happeningat w right now at the base of the statue of liberty in new york. right now we're seeing what looks like some sort of immigratio protest. someone, we believe it's a woman, has managed to climb ont of the bottom there of the statue. you can see her just to the left of the statue's foot. b understand at one point she wasaving a banner that said "abolish i.c.e.." that's why we believe this is some kind of immigration protest. it doesn't appear thahe police are trying to do anything other than cordon off the area. they say they're going to get people off the island. we're going to keep our eye on the situation we'll keep you posted. a special honor today for syrian refugees who have overcome the odds. >> they've been living in the u.s. and today they got the invite to come to tacoma park m anch in the parade there. refugees ho has the and their stories of eprvival. >> rter: parades are a time
