heat wave may be ending in a matter of hours. rain may be moving in, too. we'll check in on you with melissa mollet in a mont, but fir sheena parveen and the weather. >> a lot of people are excitede to the heat wave ending. it's been seven days in a row of temperatures in the 90s, but we are lso trackinthunderstorms. so, that's something we're watching this morning. that will be moving in after about 7:0a.m., but certainly not for everybody at that time. the heat wave will be coming to an endse bec of the rain and because of the rain we actually have a lot of relief heading way for this weekend. lowermidity will be w this weekend, so it will feel much more comfortable. this morning, still very warm and it's 81 degrees, but the humidity's still making it feel five degrees warmer. feels like 86. locally we're dry, but there you see showers and storms off to our west, heading in this direction. we're not here yet across the area. most of us will be staying dry through about 7:00 a.m. here's 8:30. there you see it north awest, they start to move in. coming up, i'll show you the timing for the rest of todnd your weekend forecast.

long time, but now he doesn't believe that anymore. he did not elaborate when asked why. the group has been trapped inside this dark, flooded cave for 13 days now. > embattled epa administrator scott pruitt is out. he resigne yesterday after months of public criticism and numerous ethics probes. in his resignatiletter, pruitt said, "the unrelenting attacks on me personally, my family, are unprecedented and have taken sizable toll on all of us." pruitt faces more than a dozen ethics investigations forearly $4 million in questionabl spending. those investigations will continue. the epa's deputy director and a former coal lobbyist, andrew wheeler, will take over as acting administrator on monday. pruitt's resignation did not come up during president trums campaign-style rally in montana last night. he did, however, resume his attacks o massachusetts senator elizabeth warren, mocki her heritage, calling her pocahontas, a nickne many have

a mother's instinc to protect her children kicks in. this happened wednesday night in dallas. policeay the wom was inside a gas station when a man climbed into her car with her two children inside and tried to take off. that's when she jumped into the passenger's seat, pulled out a gun from the glove compartment, and shot the guy in the head. the vnticle crashed a light pole. the suspect is expected to be okay. the mother and her children were not hurt. this was the scene in mexico, where 19 people are dead and dozens more injured after two explosions ripped through

that mercedes driver's door. he gets a good look inside, then decides to jump inel hi then in seconds, he presses the start button on that mercedes, then he pulls with the car, the keys, and a purse also inside the gas hose, too, still extached to the car as well. that red then pulls behind, and then neighbors here nearby say this is a quick crime that they believe just is not to surprising. >> it's horrible, but they've had a lot of issues with this gas station. and i don't know what's being done to address it. allen'sknow if charles been helpful or not. but it's a horrible thing for anybody to have to go through. >> reporter: and at this time, the suspects in that car are still out there somewhere. turns out, police are offering for tips to $1,000 that lead to an arrest and indictment in this case. and that victim here, turns out, she is very well connected. she's tied to a d.c. council person.
