nerve agent. we first brought you the story asreaking news at 6:00 tonight. we can show you a new picture dawn sturgis. she and her boyfriend became sick more than a weekago. sturgis died this afternoon. video from jun 30 shows her shopping 24 hours before sick. g police say tests indicate the couple was exposed to a military grade nerve agent. it is the same agent used to poison a former russian spy and his daughter in march. russia has denied any involvement. british officials disagree. >> we know back in march that was the russians that we know did a barbaric inhuman act. >> investigators believe they were exposed to the nerve agent when they picked something up from the first attack. detectives are investigating sturgis's death as a homicide.

dly the american city diner has closed, a diner that served breakfast all day long has been a place for great food and great people whotarted it. darcy spencer with the niece of the man who brought the popular diner to connecticut avenue. >> reporte this iconi diner has served countless customers in northwest washington for decades. as the sign says it's time for the american city diner to close after 30 years. dana is the niece of the original owner and waited tables here when she was a teen. >> i can't tell your the num of people who have commented on growing up here and coming to this der when they were kids and now bringing their kids here. so many amazing memories for so ma people. >> they did a nice job. >> jeffrey opened the diner. this video from 1988 shows the original building being hauled

diner you know there is lots of cool stuff in it that the had collected and the family is still trying to figure out what they will do with allf those items. switching gears, a man is faci serious charges f allegedly assaulting a police officer at a busy i strip mall northern virginia. this happened fday afternoon in a shopping center. police say the fairfax county officer tried to stop the man after he smelled marijuana. surveillance cameras captured the two wrestling until a second officer helped subdue the suspect. he is charged wh assault on a police officer. authorities say they found a scale and cash on him. fairfax coefty's police chi says they released the video in the interest of transparency. charismatic, loving and somessionate are just words to describe rebecca smith,

one of the five staff members at theet capital g gunned down. tonight people remember her warm spirit, hundreds turning out for her visitation. smith had just started working at the capital last november as an advertising sales assista when a gunman killed her and four colleagues. rebecca smith was just 34 yearsl earlier today friends and family remembered gerald fischman at his funeral. he served as the editorial page editn for more t two decades. a fellow colleague read his eulogy by included part of the editorial he wrote. a local sheriff's department is making a -- a sheriff's office has a contract with i.c.e.o house detainees while they await deportation.
